"We went to Charley's Crab for our one year anniversary. We arrived early for our reservation and although they were ready to seat us, we chose to have a glass of wine at the bar. Great happy hour specials and nice bartender. Hostess and manager were extremely friendly and sat us at the most romantic table outdoors with an amazing sunset view. That's where the good service stops. Our waiter, Cesar, was horrible. After we asked for a minute to look over the menu and decide on an appetizer, it took him 15 mins to come back. Not friendly or helpful when making menu selections, did not check back on us after we received our food, and did not offer a dessert menu. You could tell he was ready to leave and we were annoying him."

"First, we like this restaurant. Now the problems. The hostess staff was completely in orbit. 8 p.m. reservation got there early. Had to remind her at 8:40. Took 20 minutes to order. When it was past 10 p.m. asked to see the manager, cancelled our entries and went home. And it wasn't really crowded for a Saturday night - completely off their game. The manager was very apologetic, but don't know if we will go back."

"Food was excellent, started out with a cocktail at the bar as the hostess was not able to honor our reservation on time. Couldn't transfer our bar tab to our table which was inconvenient and slowed the entire evening down even more. We were seated outside which thankfully had heaters. Service was friendly, but poor and unreasonably slow, had to ask twice for silverware and three times for water. Was not impressed with wait times, or waiters timing of courses. Manager stopped by every table in the outside dining area but ours. Valet was quick and courteous, perhaps he should do the training for the restaurant staff! Will go back again, but with lowered expectations!"

"While the weather was not particularly cooperative, we were able to sit on the veranda as the restaurant had plastic windows for poor weather/windy conditions. With the use of heaters, we were perfectly comfortable.

Our meal started out with a pretty good bottle of Chardonnay and the Calamari & Friends appetizer. The friends were a number of other flash-fried items, which were excellent in taste, and the two sauces accompanying the appetizer were delicious.

My guests and I all had different entrees, and each indicated they were excellent. I had the Dynamite Grouper, which was excellent, but I really couldn't taste the coconut in the rice."

"My wife and I went to what should have been a romantic and delicious Valentine's dinner at Charley's Crab in Fort Lauderdale, Saturday evening 13 Feb 2010 turned out to be a disappointment.
We had made the reservation on line and requested a table with a water view.They seated us outside. It was quite cold even with the heaters going.When we requested a seating inside we were told there was none.My wife ate her entire meal with her coat on. The waitress commented that she was cold.
The next thing that struck us was that the outside tables had no table cloths and in general was not as nice as indoor seating. Added to this,food arrived luke warm and tasteless. It looked to be just thrown on the plate. Waitress was not accommodati"

"Decided to take my wife here for our 5th anniversary. I must admit it was the BY FAR THE BEST experience we have ever had! The hostess greeted us with a warm welcome. Everyone knew it was our special day. The menu even had Congrats on your 5th anniversary on it. The server was absolutely spot on. They catered to out every need, never had to ask for anything, they brought everything out on time and in perfect spacing. LIKE I SAID THIS WAS THE GREATEST DINING EXPERIENCE WE HAVE EVER HAD! and we go out alot! OHH YEAH, I FORGOT THE FOOD WAS PHOENOMENAL!"

"Overall, the food at Charley's Crab was very good. They have a nice wine list too. The options for appetizer, main course, and dessert are somewhat lacking but my guest and I were able to find something on the menu that we liked. Another important tip for first-time reservation makers is that if the night on which you plan to attend Charley's Crab is unseasonably cold AND you know that ahead of time you should specify when making the reservation that you'd prefer to sit indoors. I say this because, unfortunately, this past weekend when I went to Charley's Crab I was taken to sit outside with my guest and it was lower 60's outside and it made for a less than pleasant dining experience EVEN with the outdoor heaters that they have."

"Wonderful authentic place on the riverway!! We were visiting Fort Lauderdale on Valentine's Day. We chose Charley's because of the attraction of outdoor dining. Since it was freezing that night, the restaurnat had the portable sides lowered, but it still felt like an outdoor dining experience for which we were very greatful. The food was very good and our service was excellent. The place was hopping!! We were fine with our reservations, but if you did not have reservations, you were out of luck, and later in the night even the reservations had to wait a bit."

"We selected this restaurant because it was supposed to be romantic. The food was great, the service was good, the view was fantastic but it was NOT romantic. It was way too loud and the crowded. Romantic would be more dim lights, less noise, and more space or walls between other guests. We were squashed in where our chairs were touching other peoples' chairs. Excellent family restaurant but not romantic."

"This is a repeat visit. Tried the one in Palm Beach last year. We actually enjoyed it more this year and last year was very good! The fish and seafood were incredibly fresh. "I will not return to Charley's Crab. Having a reservation did not matter, the wait was too long. The food was not good and it tasted like Diner Restaruant Food, except that it cost much more. We would have been better off going to Peter Pan Diner The resaurant has a nice overall look, but it is totally over rated and it is not worth a second chance even for a light casual meal. My impression of the management at the restuarant is that becasue the restaurant is so busy, they dont't care about the quality or the service."

"We went there for our daughter's 21st birthday and they made it a wonderful experience for her and all of us. The wait staff was very attentive and the food was wonderful. We have never eaten at Charley's Crab but saw that they were part of the Chart House family so we knew it was going to be good and we were right, it was wonderful. I would recommend Charley's Crab for special ocassions. They did a wonderful job and made the evening very special. I made my reservation the night before and indicated we were coming for our daughter's birthday and would like a nice table outside if possible. Not only did we get a great table but they also had menus printed that said "Happy 21st Birthday". Thanks for the special evening!"

"Excellent lobster and stone crab. Most delicious meal we had on our visit to fort lauderdale. Open concept resturaunt so not a lot of privacy and a bit loud. Service was perfect and even shelled my lobster perfectly."

"We made a reservation through open table, and they did not have a table for about 30-45 minutes. Eventually we were seated at a really nice table. Christmas Dinner was good. Service was a bit slow, but our server apologised for the delay. All is forgiven. Will go back."

"Disaster! We arrived on time for our reservation, and still had to wait 15 minutes. We were told they overbooked! Drinks arrived, requested bread and crackers. Were told they ran out. After 30 minutesgot a basket of bread.We ordered the salmon, and after 15 minutes were told they didn't have anymore.We then ordered the snapper, plain, grilled, NO sauce! After 1 hour in the restaurant our dinner arrived. The snapper was drowned in sauce, so we returned it.Norma, the manager arrived and apologized. After 10 minutes she brought one dessert to the table.We'll return for drinks and that's it. No more dinners. Besides, selection isn't that great and everything is overpriced!"

"Very nice atmosphere! The service was great and the food was very nice too. I spilled my drink and the waiter reset the entire table which was nice he was that concerned! (It was only water!!) The food is very nicely prepared but I wish they would have split them for us."

"Went there for the Stone Crabs and was not disappointed. The appetizers were excellent. The calamari fritti was lightly battered and tasted very fresh. The crab stack blended the taste of crab, avocado, and mangos to provide an exotic blend and taste to the palate. The pasta entree, fresh fish, and even the steak that my party had were all well prepared and presented. The waiter we had was very polite and provided great service, but seemed to be newer as there was a lack of guidance of specials and recommendations. However, overall it was a great experience."

"We had been to a branch of this restaurant in Palm Beach and tried the Fort Lauderdale location. We thought the food was moderately good which was disappointing given that entree prices are in the expensive range. We also were disappointed with our waiter who was very pushy at the beginning of our meal. The outside seating is very nice and right on the water, which in part balanced out the evening.

However, we don't intend to visit this location again."
