The Exchange at the Setai Wall Street

The Exchange at the Setai Wall Street ushers in a new sensibility to The Financial District. While maintaining The Setai’s striking decor Executive Chef Josh Capone brings his hometown style of San Francisco based Contemporary American cuisine into play. Ingredients are locally sourced and seasonal. Flavors are bold yet balanced. The approachable menu now features both a la carte and prix fixe options for lunch and dinner. Our three course prix fixe menus are now priced at $28 for lunch and $42 for dinner. As an experienced baker his breads and focaccia are now made on premise. To finish a great experience desserts are now under the guidance of former Aureole alum Alise Ciucci.

We look forward to welcoming you to The Exchange.

"We had been fans of SHO and dined there every time we visited New York, more thantwo dozen times. We were very disappointed when the Setai decided that SHO was too upscale for lower Manhattan and hesitated trying The Exchange. When we finally had lunch there this week we were very pleasantly surprised: the food was excellent! We will definitely be back!"

"This is a hidden gem in the financial district. The restaurant is beautiful, very much zen like. Space is huge, you don't have to worry about getting kicked out because it's too crowded. The food is surprisingly good. The prix fixe is $42 for 3-course dinner. The menu is changing every week, so there are always something new. Highly recommended."

"It's rare to find a spacious restaurant in Manhattan. This place has beautiful zen like setting, very comfortable. Even though there are not that many selections on the menu, the cuisine actually covers a very wide range. Highly recommended when you need a last minute business or romantic meal in the Financial District."

"This restaurant is tucked away on the second floor of the Setai - near Wall Street. It has very modern, but cozy feel - beautiful decor, quiet and the table are spaced far about so as not to intrude on your neighbor. The tuna tartar and the Sea Bream were perfectly prepared. We also went for ice cream and sorbet tastings. So good!"

"Gone is the deft hand of chef Shaun Hergatt at this former NY Times two-star restaurant, and it shows -- in everything. From the well-meaning but amateur front-of-house staff, to a kitchen that seems bored with the very idea of plating, to tasty but ho-hum dishes. While the restaurant had announced its staff would stay on following Hergatt's departure, the well-tuned machine that once turned out some of the most inventive and surprising food in the city with professionalism and flair, was nowhere to be found on our recent visit for a Valentine's Day dinner. The food was adequate, though the presentation was completely absent (a pile of meat on a plate covering a mushy mound of potatoes was the beef entree). We won't be back."

"There does not seem to be enough space in the Private Note section.
My guest and I had very good lunches. The service was good until we asked for the bill. We had to ask 4 times before it arrived. At least twice, I saw the waiter looking at me: I signalled for the bill and he turned and went to another area.
When we picked up our coats, mine was wet. It was a dry day, so I have no idea how it got wet in the coat check. There was not damage, but others might complain.
You have a good restaurant and I am sure to come back, but some things need correction."

"Entering The Exchange through a passageway filled with interesting wall hangings, several of them beautifully framed African-looking brushes and necklaces, is in itself a dramatic experience. The dining room is spacious and tables are far apart, insuring privacy. We were seated at a glass wall flush with the kitchen, and it was fun to see the prep going on just a few feet away. For Restaurant Week, I chose the parsnip and apple soup garnished with basil oil; it was delicious. My entree was duck confit on a bed of couscous, also wonderfully flavored. My friend had the tongue appetizer and a fish entree. Desserts were a lemon cake and a chocolate mousse with coffee. Service was attentive. A wonderfully relaxing lunch; will return!"

"While the decor and the service were of the quality that I would have expected for the price, the food was not up to snuff. The preparation of the cod was good without being great, the execution of several dishes was technically proficient without being inspired, and overall, I got the impression that the food was an afterthought compared to the rest of the place."

"Great intimate restaurant to eat with anyone. The service was excellent & food memorable. A nice touch is that they make their own pastries; which was fresh bread & desserts. Another nice point is that you can see into the kitchen which was spotless even when prepping all the food for patrons. :o)"
