Located in the heart of the nation’s capital, this Daily Grill was the first to be opened in Washington, D.C. "I made a reservation for six, they offer us a booth in the hallway, which we decline, and wait 15 minutes past our reservation time.
The place is crowded, and we start to order our meal, our waiter is mentioning the specials, and I say, "I can't hear you", so he raises his voice as loud as possible while staring me down like he wants to start a fight. The waiters here look like they just got out of jail. I will not go back."

"Went to the Daily Grill for lunch and was less than impressed with my mediocre meal. I started off with one very unenthusiastic service, which took a little less than ten minutes to even acknowledge me. The restaurant was not busy at all. However, the second server who took over did make up for the first. He was very polite, pretty attentive and seemed genuinely nice. The food was just "okay." I ordered the French Dip Sandwich, which I could have gotten anywhere. The loaded mac and cheese tasted a lot better than it looked and this is not even really a compliment. It looked very dry when it came out, but after mixing it up a bit it turned out a little better. The cheesecake dessert was just average. Not impressed and probably won't return."

"Upon arrival we were seated promptly which started out our evening perfectly. We had a very good waiter who gave us recommendations and provided much color to the evening. He was great. I had meatloaf which was very good, which I would recommend to all who enjoy meatloaf as it was very juicy and full of great texture & taste. My wife had chicken picatta which she enjoyed very much as did my daughters who had filet and pasta. The waiter allowed us to enjoy our dinner and not rush us at all. "This remains one of my favorite downtown restaurants for a business lunch. The service is terrific, the food is always very good, and they always are very accommodating to special requests (e.g. for seating on the dining room's perimeter, where it is quieter). My only complaint is that the restaurant can be deafeningly noisy at busy times, which makes conversation challenging."

"I love Daily Grill downtown.
But I do think the waitstaff should be advised NOT to mutter "no problem" to every customer request. It's a sloppy, colloquial expression, and -- just by the way -- if it's a problem, get another job. That's right down there with (from the same waitperson), "Can I get that out of the way for you?" as if we are mine-clearing in Afghanistan, or "Are you still working on that," as if this is a Honda factory. Also, filling water glasses should happen as a matter of course, not requiring a request halfway through the meal, no?
I chalk this Thursday evening debacle up as one mediocre experience among many other excellent ones."

"The Daily Grill is one of my favorit restaurants in DC (I'm a resident of the District). For food and ambiance see above. Note that "fit for foodies" means good food not exotic combinations. Failure to check box on notable wine list reflects the facat that I always have glass of the house white or red and have never perused the wine liset. Decor very attactive with wonderful framed photos of old Washington such the Library of Congress under construction, etc. hanging on dark wood panelled walls. Unpretentious upper-middle-class/business feel. Waiters polite and friendly and can discuss the offerings. Reservations essential if you come at normal lunch or dinner hours."

"The food was excellent and the service fast, friendly and efficient. The portions were generous and especially the desserts. We had just gotten in to our hotel and booked a reservation through Open Table. We were greeted by name by the restaurant hostess and walked right in during a busy time."

"Had an early dinner on a Saturday night. When we left, there were many people waiting for tables, so it seems to be a popular place, especially for families and other groups. I would not recommend. Service was fine, bread was good and warm, but the food was just so-so. I am not a resident of DC, just a visitor, but I know there are better options at this price point in the area ( DuPont Circle)."

"My wife and I came for dinner. We had received a birthday gift card and two of us used it for a $10 savings. We have been here before and as always the food and the service were outstanding. We had tilapia and chicken marsala. I would recommend both of them. The noise level is a little loud, but this should not discourage diners because all else is outstanding. We will return."

"Overall, the experience at the Daily Grill was good. The food is wonderful and I had a great server that made some great recommendations. The only complaint was that the food seemed to take long than usual to arrive at the table. Make sure you order a drink and appetizer to fill your wait time. I definitely will return and recommend this restaurant to anyone."
