Rocco's Café on Folsom Street is a neighborhood institution offering authentic, home-style Italian food with a taste of tradition. We have a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu with brunch specails served all day Saturday and Sunday. Experience the excitement of an open kitchen. Rocco's is great for a casual lunch or a romantic dinner.
"My friends and I were in San Fran for the Diva's Half Marathon and needed a pasta place to carb up. I had seen Rocco's on Diner's, Drive-In's and Dive's and wanted to try it. The neighborhood wasn't great (I was glad to be in a pack walking to my car on 5th street afterward) but the food was A-MAZING! Some of the plates we had at our table were Eggplant Parm, Chicken Marsala, Gnocchi with pesto sauce. It was all great. Rocco even took time out to pose for a picture with us. Highly recommend."

"I am glad we made reservations for lunch...with few tables it was busy the whole time we were there. The food was great, a lot of Giant fans before the game.."

"Rocco's never disappoints. We were a group of 14 and for a small restaurant, we still didn't feel cramped. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the food is excellent. From fresh ingredients to generous portions, you can't go wrong at Rocco's."

"Seems to be a favorite with locals as we saw the owner welcoming many friends to the restaurant and engaging with every customer. The atmosphere and great food at Rocco's is something many restaurants can only hope to duplicate. The blackberry pie was delicious and will visit this restaurant again when we return to SF."

"This is one of those places that you would LOVE to go for breakfast. Perfectly poached eggs; tasty seasoned red potatos; perfectly cooked bacon... Seriously, a place you would wish was in your neighborhood. Friendly waitstaff, and a spotless place, too. Never had dinner, but been going for years whenever I'm in SF. I have been known to schedule my flights around making their breakfast hour! Gotta love Rocco's! The only thing that I wish is that the sourdough bread was more Bodin's style than what seems like a grocery brand..."

"Great food in a SOMA neighborhood setting. We were on a time limit for the theater, and we made it with time to spare. Terrific pasta! Remember to save room for dessert ..."

"First discovered Rocco's Cafe on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives many years ago. We try to always eat there at least once during a visit to San Francisco. The Linguine in White Clam Sauce is the best I have ever had! Meatballs are EPIC as well!"

"since we're new to the area we have to rely on reviews from others... and while this place seems like it could be pretty generic at first look, all of the food was fresh, inventive and delicious. the menu has a lot of options and some of the specials sounded amazing. the service was super fast and friendly and everyone was pleased with their entree. the portions were pretty generous as i took half of mine home! definitely a great place to try in the neighborhood for delicious, fresh italian food or sandwhiches."

"Great food & retro atmosphere. Due to popularity you feel a bit rushed after dining to vacate your table for the waiting crowd. Understandable due to the restaurant's popularity, so approach with a dine & dash attitude for dinner and you will enjoy!"

"The owner was friendly as was the wait staff. The wait staff just was not there when needed though. We had to ask to place an order as did the table next to us. The chef seemed to equate "Italian" with lots of raw garlic. That being said, the food was fresh and the bread was very good. We do not plan to return as we know of some much better spots in North Beach for when we need a good Italian food fix."

"Rocco's is old school italian american. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. Sole Picatta was good, but not great, but the pasta marinara side was excellent. My wife's Eggplant Parmesan was as good as I have ever tasted."

"My wife and I are from San Diego and we have made several visits to Rocco's over the years. Our visit this week was not like the others. First, they sat us at a 2 person table that had virtually no room between the tables next to us. You know you have a problem when you have to slide the table to one side just to get in and out. The food was also not up to par as usual. We started with the homemade polenta with marinara which was good. My wife had the ravioli and meatballs for her entree. The meal portion is large, especially the meatballs. When my wife cut into the meatballs, they were cold. I had the shrimp gamberoni which seemed to be lacking some flavor punch."

"Rocco's Cafe never fails to impress me. I LOVE THE PLACE. There is so much to look at - the ambiance is wonderful; the prices even better. The waitress was very personable. I was going to have a pork entree (people next to me said try to the masala chicken - and it did look scruptious) but then the waitress said the special of the day was southern fried chicken, garlic mash potatoes and spinach. This was after the OMG garlic butter with bread.
And all I can see is OMG - the BEST place in San Francisco. This was my second time there and I can't wait to go back because there are so many delicious choices.
Maybe one day when I don't fill up on the bread and lick my plate clean meal, I'll try dessert.
Wonderful; Wonderful; Wonder"

"I had heard about Rocco's from Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and wasn't quite sure if it was going to live up to the hype. Not only did it live up to it, it completely surpassed it. I will make this a regular spot for lunch and would recommend it to anyone! Enjoy!"

"no trip to SF is complete without several trips to rocco's. it is unpretentious and consistanly excellent from breakfast to the daily specials. i send other out of towners and bring locals here and they all agree that they love rocco's too. that being said, make sure you get a reservation, especially in the early evening and on week-ends."

"Rocco's serves excellent pastas, chicken, seafood and beef, all with homemade sauces and cooked to perfection. The service is excellent, accommodating and friendly. We went on a night when they were serving crab cioppino, and it was outstanding. The broth was delicious and there were plenty of prawns and muscles to go along with the whole crab. For a casual night out you can't beat Rocco's."
