Frank's Americana Revival
Frank's is a classic neighborhood restaurant, with big city appeal. With a recognized reputation for memorabe food and great service, the "Americana Revival menu features locally sourced fruits and vegetables, along with fresh Gulf seafood, Try the chicken fried steak! It has been highlighted by multiple food critics as "the best" in the State of Texas. The highly acclaimed Fried Chicken and Maple Brined Pork Chop are just as good.
The steaks are all Certified Angus and come with generous sides on the same plate, and the salads are almost legendary.
Frank's is a place where you can meet your friends in the bar, dine there, or experience the full menu in the dining room.

"Good food-great atmosphere-can hear each other's conversation which is rare in this town. I enjoy the food-Friday night is Fried Chicken which I rarely eat but the way they prepare it is really good. They have a good bar as well. I like this place a lot."

"I love to get to Frank's whenever I can. Mike Shine and Chris treat everyone like family. The food is outstanding and Chris has made lots of excellent changes to the wine list. I had the redfish special and it was perfectly prepared. The person who waited on me was very attentive as usual."

"Although we'd been here a few times, we invited a couple - one of whom dines out regularly for business. Her response was 'what a great find!. The food and service were great, especially on what turned out to be a very busy Saturday evening. The steaks, chops, and Grillades and Grits were wonderful, as was an excellent Tomato/Caprese salad! We'll definitely keep Frank's on our list of go-to restaurants!"

"Only complaint was the server was not as knowledgable as he should have been and did not speak distinclly. We are four older folks who don't hear perfectly and he sort of mumbled. Everything else was great and we will return because this was not the first time and we know it is not always the situation with the server."

"I had been craving fried chicken and ribs and Frank's was just what I needed! My husband and I split a BBQ ribs appetizer - one large rib for each of us, falling off the bone delicious! I ordered the fried chicken and it was great! Crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside. 3 large pieces. I took one home and it was just as good cold the next day - no grease. The mashed potatoes were yummy and the green beans perfectly cooked - al dente and delicious. My husband had the fried seafood platter, which he pronounced the best he had ever eaten. We split a sticky toffee pudding for dessert...melt in your mouth sweetness!"

"Our pair of families were introduced to Frank's Chop House five years ago. We have dined at Frank's after each Rice football home game since then. The food has been consistently excellent. We have always felt welcomed, even when we were slightly under-dressed. The wait-staff has been consistently wonderful. This restaurant is truly a neightborhood gem. "We never tire of eating here. The cuisine isn't gourmet--it's mostly comfort food done very well. Our table of three enjoyed starters of fried green tomatoes and a chopped salad, both of which were excellent. Our entrees included chicken-fried steak (outstanding), salmon, and an excellent creole-style snapper. Wine list continues to improve, and our server, Mark, is not only great on service, but is as honest about what's good and what's not so good as you'll find in town."

"It's hard to overcome a wrong first impression.The man who seated us was also our waiter. I saw an older couple seat themselves because no one was there to greet them for several minutes.It was a slow lunch hour and not necessary for anyone to wait.I also received a rude response to a simple question about their gumbo which I thought was was ok, not special.Overall I have no reason to return."

"This place just keeps getting better. The fried green tomatoes appetizer is as good as there is in the city, served with a wonderful Remoulade sauce and topped with shrimp. My wife chose the chicken-fried steak (her regular), and I tried the buttermilk-fried chicken, which was good. Both came with a healthy portion of mashed potatoes, and the restaurant was very accomodating about allowing us to substitute their wonderful collard greens for the roasted vegetables on the CFS and the green beans on the fried chicken. Their wine list has been drastically overhauled, and has a great selection of both domestic and imported wines for virtually every dish imaginable (with reasonable markups)."

"We booked dinner @ Frank's in conjunction with a promotional night for Garrison Bros. Bourbon, the 1st real Texas bourbon. We arrived an hour early to visit in the bar and enjoy good bourbon and good friends. James, the head waiter approached us about giving up our reservation to an older couple who had none. We obliged. Apparently this made an impression on the wait staff and on the owner, as each seemed to know immediately who we were and made an effort to thank us for the courtesy extended. The place was packed and extremely noisy, but we were treated well and enjoyed the evening. The food was excellent, the service friendly. Prices are a little higher than we normally pay, but this was a special night. Return is likely."

"Since Frank's was taken over by Mike Shine and his group, some menu items have been pared and others added, the wine list has been improved, and what was already a very good restaurant has gotten even better. We each thoroughly enjoyed a cup of some of the best chili we've ever eaten, a special appetizer that we're told may become a staple on the menu. Our entrees included the chicken-fried steak, which is up there among the best in the city, and an absolutely delicious red snapper topped with crabmeat, served with very tasty okra & tomatoes and rice. Portions are large, prices are reasonable, and the owner is very friendly, apparently trying to get around to visit with all diners. We'll be back more often in the future"
