Luminaria Restaurant & Patio
Located at the Inn and Spa at Loretto, Conde’ Nast Traveler’s 2012 World’s Best, Gold List award recipient. Luminaria Restaurant and Patio combines modern sophistication with rustic Southwestern charm. Inspired by New Mexico's first inhabitants, the Anasazi 'Children of the Light,' Luminaria's design, décor, and cuisine illuminates the Santa Fe dining experience.
During the warmer months, dine outdoors on the rustic wood patio adjacent to the world-renowned Loretto Chapel. At twilight, dine al fresco under the stars, transform the high desert into a romantic veranda draped and tented with flowering vines and luxurious flowing fabrics lit by hanging lanterns. A less formal, but equally delicious menu is available fireside in the Living Room, featuring a nightly happy hour and late night reverse happy hour specials.

"I regularly go to Luminaria, in part because of the gracious setting, and in part because of the Legacy Club membership that I have, which discounts the total bill. In general, I have always been pleased with the food. In this case, 3 birthdays and a wedding anniversary, we chose Luminaria because it is a lovely place for celebrations. The food was very disappointing. My gin and tonic had a substandard tonic used, the food, while plated beautifully, was dry and uninteresting. The desserts, which they are known for, were too imaginative to be appealing."

"This was our first time at this restaurant. The food was excellent. My wife had the Lamb, I had Salmon. We had wine and drinks. They made a chili spiked margarita that was superb. We drove in from El Paso and this was our first choice . 2 friends joined us for the evening and we all had a great time. I truly recommend this restaurant to everyone. You will not be disappointed."

"We had a party of four. Four different entrees. Three different apps. The apps were mostly 4 stars or even 5. Three of the entrees (lemonfish, beef short ribs, lamb rack) we would give 3-1/2 - 4 stars, but one (paella) was a 1 or 2. The service was subpar for this level of restaurant, but not terrible. All in all one could do better for less money elsewhere."

"We celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary at Luminaria and had the most wonderful evening. We chose Luminaria based on Trip Advisor reviews and were not disappointed. It was warm enough (April 30) to sit outside on the patio. The food, the service, and the ambiance was fantastic. We highly recommend this restaurant."

"My wife and I dined here on the last evening of our trip and it was definitely a case of saving the best for last! We were seated in an intimate booth and found the staff to be friendly, attentive, but not intrusive. If you enjoy sangria - you must try both the red and white that they have available. The menu has something to meet everyone's taste, including interesting dishes with local flair. Chocohalics save room for dessert, including the thick sliced bacon dipped in chocolate combined with a chocolate waffle and candied pecans. And to top it off at the end they brought us complimentary chocolate truffles - yum!!"

"When we were being seated, we asked for a different table because the table the host wanted to seat us at was almost in the entry room. ..Clearly the worst table in the restaurant. The hostess respond that those tables were for people with reservations. We explained that we HAD reservations and and to haggle with him a few minutes before he adhered to let us sit more in the back. The restaurant was never full the while nite. We were very happy with our meal and the wait staff was excellent."

"Very nice. However; there was no one to greet us for several minutes, we almost turned around and left. After we were seated it again took considerable time before the server took our drink order. The meal was ok, my husband had the watercress and arugula salad which he loved. I had the grilled romaine salad which was lackluster. He had the papardelle, again a hit. I had the special, a seared tuna with smashed potatoes. The tuna and potatoes were delicious, but there was nothing else on the plate. Something to lend a counterpoint and some moisture would have made this better. Dessert was out of this world, the winelist extensive, and the service was excellent after the slow start."

"This is another 'fine dining' Santa Fe experience with very good food, good wine list and obsurdly slow, inefficient service. The waiters were also bar tenders and did not appear to have 'sections'. The three of them were all over the restaurant with not much of a plan. Thank goodness it was not too busy because we (party of 4)started at 7pm and were not done until 10pm. It is pricey for that level of service and did not see any bargains on the wine list. Comfortable seating but lighting over some of the tables was bright and directly overhead which can be annoying."

"Luminaria has a beautiful, subtle decor in soft taupe, ivory and soft canteloupe colors. Staff are knowledgeable, hospitable, and attentive but unobtrusive. Everything we've eaten there has been both excellent and reasonably priced - even the brunch. Both indoor restaurant and outdoor patio are aesthetic and charming. A good place to go if you want to have a relaxed meal and quiet conversation with close friends, sweetheart, or older parents - you can hear each other speak and are rarely forced to put up with loud braying from a nearby table. "We were fortunate be in Sante Fe during Restaurant Week and enjoyed three courses with wine pairings at Luminaria. Each dish was more wonderful than the last. I had a spinach salad with pine nuts and maybe shallots which was a knockout. We asked our waitress about the dressing (warm sherry) and the salt (Himalayan). The Spice Crusted Tuna was crisp-tender and delicious, and Molten Chocolate Doughnuts for dessert were melt-in-your-mouth amazing. The wine pairings introduced us to a few wines we would not ordinarily select, but all the chef's selections were spot on. We will definitely return to Inn and Spa at Loretto, and will enjoy another amazing dinner the next time we visit Santa Fe."

"The Restaurant Week menu was a fantastic value and it was executed flawlessly. I think the portobello ravioli was the best dish I tasted during Restaurant Week. Service was perfect -- attentive but not at all a distraction from my dining companions. Next time someone asks me for a fine dining recommendation in Santa Fe, Luminaria will be on the list. Looking forward to visiting the patio this summer. We chose this restaurant because it had numerous meat-free options."

"Dinner was outstanding. We espcially enjoyed the steak dish, the tuna dish and the pork chop dish. The ravioli appetizer was excellent. The only disappointments were two of the desserts - the "chocolate donoughnut" and the "apple pie" dishes were actually distasteful. The wines were quite enjoyable."

"I listed the noise level at "energetic" as I could hear the conversation at one the table not directly adjacent to mine, but I guess that a problem at any public space.
The service was very good and the menu for Restaurant Week was limited as expected, the portion size was larger than expected and the quality of the meal was outstanding. Easily the best Restaurant Week meal I have ever experienced (Washington, DC included)."

"After beautifully prepared and enjoyable dinner the first night of our stay at The Inn and Spa at Loretta, we looked forward to other meals in this delightful restaurant. Breakfast each morning was excellent and it was nice to find gluten free items on the menu noted. The tortilla soup at lunch that day was so delicious we returned for lunch at Luminaria each stay of our stay. Very friendly staff in an enjoyable setting - highly recommend this restaurant."

"We live here in New Mexico and, being foodies, have gone to most restaurants. Luminaria was one restaurant, however, we weren't familiar with. We were so pleased with it! The service was honestly the best in Santa Fe, second only to the food. Their chef and staff prepared a truly amazing dinner for us. We really had a lot of fun."
