"In NYC for a weekend and wanted to try a Bobby Flay restaurant. He's one of our favorite chefs on TV. The decor at Mesa Grill to be very dated. They were trying for a southwest feel, but it felt like a Best Western hotel dining room with beige orange walls and ugly chairs. My dish was the lamb chops which were excellent! My wife ordered the ribeye, medium rare. It came to her medium to medium well and the ends we're tough, tasteless, and dry. I suggest smaller portions. Do we really have to contribute to the obesity problem by only offering 14-16oz steaks? It just gross to eat all that meat in one sitting. I'm being hard because Mesa Grill is expensive. I just expected much more from one of the most notable chefs in the world."

"A friend & I were visiting New York and made a 9pm reservation at Mesa Grill. Our most memorable meal had been a brunch at Mesa Grill in Las Vegas so we didn't want to miss the opportunity to try it in NYC! We arrived early so we sat at the bar -- drinks were incredible! I would highly recommend the spicy margarita with Serrano peppers. Hillary was taking care of us & we felt so comfortable/welcomed that we cancelled our reservation for restaurant seating & dined at the bar! Spectacular service & friendly people! The food was amazing...salad was delicious, filet was cooked perfectly and had great flavor, and the shrimp tacos were awesome as well. And, the perfect ending was the toffee bread pudding! We will be back!"

"Loved the food at Mesa Grill. This was my third visit but first dinner. The grouper and filet were great as was our bottle of wine. Here is my problem. My friend and I were seated next to a large party. Not just a party, but, a family birthday party for a 3 year old. While no one really misbehaved, it was just a nuisance. The little girl was running around, opening presents and getting lots of pictures taken, with a flashes, in my eyes. There was lots of commotion and it was very distracting. A few times, members of the party were standing right next to our table. My server could certainly see my frustration and the rolling of my eyes on more than one occasion. Perhaps we should have been moved or just a dessert comped to show they cared?"

"The food was fantastic...not a complaint at all. We have eaten there twice now and would recommend to anyone. Our server wasn't overly friendly and she didn't want to make conversation at all. Our bread was taken before we could even stop and say please don't take it. Dirty silverware but the issue was addressed quickly. Sat upstairs and had a great view of the restaurant. To top it off...the margarita's were to die for. Overall, it was a good experience and we would come back for Bobby's food--servce needs a bit of attention."

"I was there with a group of 9. we were promptly seated at round table that was comfortable and tucked in a corner. The service was first rate. from the first impression as I walked in and was greeted with a friendly smile to our server who was attentive, knowledgable and added to our whole dinner. We were even visited by the general manager. Mesa has been a staple here for over 20 years and continues to Wow all of our senses."

"my pork tenderloin was amazing. but everything else we had was, well, just ok. we brought our 5 year old who has a pretty sophisticated palate. the evening before she ate grilled lobster and a variety of sides from an upscale NYC restaurant. the best they could do a mesa was a tortilla with cheese melted in it. the wait staff made it clear that the kitchen cooked just off the menu, there was no creativity or spark or accommodation. that is not was fine food is supposed to be about. bobby, it was not your best work by a long shot."

"This was our first time here. We went for my wife’s Birthday. From the time we walked in the door until we left everyone was very nice and helpful to us. Nice clean bar and nice people behind the bar to serve you. When we did sit for dinner the table was nice, roomy and a nice view. Our server was Nicole, very nice young lady, answered all our questions and did not push you to order, she gave us lots of time. When the food came it great tasted and looked very nice on the dish. For the main meal I did go with Nicole’s suggestion, and I'm very happy I did. We had dessert and on the side of the dish they had written Happy Birthday."

"We LOVED Mesa Grill. As our thing for Cinco de Mayo we decided to give Mesa a try. We were extremely pleased and satisfied with the food and the service. Our waiter was very helpful in helping us make choices, esp with the margaritas since they have one standard margarita recipe but their extensive selection of tequilas are what make each margarita unique. I really liked that. I had their pork tenderloin with a maple pecan tamale. Wow. So good. My date had the steak with a jalapeno paste tamale which was divine. Each dish came with a sauce that accompanied the meats. The sauces had flavors that kept changing and hitting you at different times with each bite and the meats were so tender. We topped off our meal with the churros. Mmm!"

"My favorite resturant is Bobby Flay's Steaks in the Borgota Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. When I found out that I would be spending a weekend in NYC I just had to try one of his resturants in the city. We selected Mesa Grill and had a 9pm reservation. The steaks were good, but I really did not care for the tex-mex twists to all of the items on the menu. (I knew it was tex-mex going in). They seated us all the way on the top level in the back by the service entrance. Bad location - very disappointed with it. It was very loud and the service was not as good as at the Borgota. Service at the Borgota is always impecible and I never had a bad table in the 12-15 times that I have dined there."

"I have been to Mesa Grill many times. I recommended my date and I go here. He has never been. He loved it. It is definitely my "go to" restaurant when I'm in the City. I had fresh tuna and it was delicious. Cooked perfectly. My date had the ribeye and the first bite he rolled his eyes and said omg, this is delicious. The dessert menu didn't set us on fire, so we skipped dessert. It is definitely worth going back."

"Considering Bob Flay's notoriety, I expected a far better dining experience with my guest than what I had. The food was mediocre at best and the service slow and careless. "Probably the best food I've ever eaten. I had the Sunday dinner and my daughter had the grilled chicken. I loved all the food on my plate, but my favorite was the grilled potato salad. We had been walking all over NYC, and were exhausted and foot-sore. Mesa Grill was a perfect place to revive and to eat great food. We really liked our waiter also."

"I went to Mesa Grill for lunch with my family who was visiting from out of town. We all had a great experience and loved the food. Lunch prices were very reasonable. My four year old nephew was with us, and they were very patient and accommodating of him.
The rough cut tuna nachos and goat cheese queso fundido were big hits as appetizers. They were probably the stars of the meal. Most of the table ordered cheeseburgers, and we also had the spicy chicken with sweet potato hash and cornmeal crusted chile relleno. Everything was delicious. I most highly recommend the tuna nachos!"

"Iron Chef Bobby Flay's New York restaurant does not disappoint. I've been here three times now (Saturday brunch, weeknight dinner and weekday lunch), and the food is spectacular. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Also, they have an excellent selection of premium tequilas that make for a great margarita. I should note, I am typically not a big margarita fan, but I ordered one even for Saturday brunch."

"The food was out of this world. The pork tenderloin was the best I've ever had, tender with wonderful, flavorful sauce. Try the coconut line margarita, it is heaven. And the mashed potatoes with green chile sauce were decadent. Great service. We sat upstairs with a great view of the restaurant."

"The staff at Mesa is usually snobby but our server this trip was an exception. I can't say enough about how friendly he was and how welcome he made us feel. This, of course, encouraged us to spend more than we would have. Since the food was excellent it was a win-win situation. The fundido and shrimp tacos were wonderful - great appetizers in perfect presentations. The jalapeno taco was very doughy but tasty and the salmon and pork entrees were perfect - excellent quality and flavoring, unique and delicious. Cocktails were great - - peach margarita was strong but very flavorful, mescal flight was not over-priced and tasted great. We had lots of fun and definitely plan on going back."

"I assumed the food would be good and the service acceptable and was suprised when the opposite occured. Bar staff were friendly and accomodating, front end very helpful and Melissa our server was very good to excellent.
Both starters were good but the shrimp tacos could have been served on the head of a pin. Concerning the rough cut tuna nachos , the tuna and sauces were very good but the chips themselves were either commercially prepared off site, stale or just plain nasty. The two main plates were some of the worst dishes I have ever encountered at a celebrity chef or fine dining restaurant. The Thursday lobster special showcased the worst bits of lobster I have ever had and the chili rellenos were basically tasteless."
