Locanda Verde is a casual, bustling neighborhood Italian taverna located in Robert DeNiro's TriBeCa hotel, The Greenwich. The airy, light-flooded space is open morning, noon and night serving Chef Andrew Carmellini's inspired urban Italian cooking with desserts and baked goods from award-winning pastry chef Karen DeMasco.
"Try the lamb--absolutely delicious! And they make the best Negroni I've had in a long time. Service was a little slow on our last visit, but we would still go back in a second."

"Loved loved loved Locande Verde. We were visiting from London for a long weekend and this meal was a real highlight. Had breakfast, lovely intriguing menu. All delicious. Next time will book a month ahead and try and have dinner with you! Gorgeous understated interior. NYC at its best."

"Lovely mid-morning breakfast, so civilized before the crowds later in the day and evening. You must order the granola with yougurt and fresh fruit: it's to die for!"

"Fairly uneven meal: one crostini was excellent (fava bean), while another (trout) was pretty bland. Pastas were good, but not memorable. (The pasta at Andrew's new restaurant, LaFayette were much, much better.) Service was brisk. Very noisy, very crowded. Given the hype and challenge of getting a reservation, I'd pass the next time."

"We had an excellent dinner and experience. We are a group of folks who take our food and wine pretty seriously - so always looking for an impressive meal - And we have young families. In PDX it is possible to find great food in family friendly establishments - but we were not sure what to expect in NYC. Locanda Verde exceeded our expectations on both fronts - happily accommodating our group when we grew from 8 to 9, and nobody flinched when the addition was a 3 year old :) The interior is charming and comfortable, the staff knowledgeable and friendly. Highlights from our meal included the fava bean crostini, the locanda salad, the special squid ink pasta, the roasted rabbit and a divine pistachio cake with rhubarb sorbet."

"What an outsanding dining experience. The pesto and lamb pastas were sensational only to be topped by the pistachio cake and lemon tart. There will certainly be a retrun trip. The service was just okay but the bartenders were great and though it was crowded we were not at all rushed."

"Loved that you could make brunch reservations. Great Bloody Mary. I enjoyed the waffles...very sweet though for me. The pancakes were a big portion and not too lemony, the ricotta was rich and the truffle is yummy. Also a great place to see some famous faces. The reason for lower service stars was because coffee was never being filled without asking and waitress was hard to find when wanting to order or the check."

"I had lunch with a friend on 4/29/2013. I was early for my reservation, and asked to be seated right away. I got the stock response from the hostess of how they need to have everyone in the party present to be seated. i understand that this is good practice durring busy hours; however, this was for lunch on a rainy Monday with over half of the tables empty. I asked to be seated citing that I needed something hot to drink. She made it very clear that she was unhappy to seat me, and showed me to my table without offering a word. When I shared the story with my husband later (he has dined there in the past as it is close to work), he told he what a terrible service he had at a client dinner. Dine at North End Grill instead."

"I work in the area and have been here at least 30 times , usually with clients . Sunday was my first time for brunch with very dear friends from Canada. After our experience I will never go back . The male host was beyond rude . We had our daughter 18 months with us and the other couple had there baby . We had a reservation for 4 and asked for high chairs . He said this was a problem as our ressie was for 4, not 6 !!!He huffed and puffed for a while and said he would try to work something out . During which time we sat in the vestibule waiting to be called . It was almost 11 when we were seated in a 4 top which he had originally said would not work . The 4 top was also located next to the coffee station and next to the waitor station ."

"Indifferent, rushed service. Unfortunately, the food was also just ok. The fantasia of tiramisu dessert, the only carefully executed dish that we tasted, was definitely the high point of the meal."

"Very bad service from the hostess. Would not even accommodate a request for an extra chair even though there were 5 empty tables next to us!! The food portion would fit better in a French nouvelle cuisine restaurant!!"

"the ambiance was more adult and enjoyable than the photos of the place I saw, the food was way better than expected, actually a memorable dinner for years to come. very impressed with the food sensitivities, great food enjoyment. waitress was superb and kind. atmosphere was adult and rich, but with a country style. I would recommend to anyone to go and will definitely go back again for a wonderful dining experience."

"Beware - after making my reservation with Open Table I received a phone call from Locanda Verde stating Open Table reservations are sequestered to the banquet room, away from the main dining room. I objected to this "second class treatment" to no avail. The banquet room is an overflow room with no atmosphere and terrible service. There is absolutely no need to be at Locanda Verde if that means eating there. Locanda Verde is good, just not that good."

"Consistently excellent Italian cuisine, in a handsome setting. Always packed for lunch - both business and social. You really can't go wrong with any dish here, from appetizers to delicious desserts, all attractively prepared. Service is professional. Minor complaints: some tables are a little too closely spaced, and some of the pasta entree portions are really tiny - a recent pappardelle portion was about three tablespoons-full."

"The food outshone all the other aspects of the restaurant. (Perhaps because it felt like we were eating by candlelight in the 1800s with an arctic wind blowing from an elusive vent.) The blue crab crostini, homemade ricotta, pastas and desserts were FANTASTIC. There was an aged steak cooked to perfection; however, very expensive. We could have done with half the portion at half the price. Veal ordered, lacked depth of flavor and/or was overpowered by the pancetta that accompanied it. The duck was beautifully cooked and the flavors married well with it. The skate I ordered was also executed well, solid entree, but needed acid."

"Locanda Verde's reputation for fabulous food is well-deserved. The ricotta cheese with sea salt and herbs is amazing, richer and more satisfying than any dessert. Grandmother's ravioli is extremely satisfying. On the down side, themenu at lunch is rather limited, with only 6 or so options in each category. Service was extremely professional and friendly. The restaurant is very pretty. It is also somewhat cramped and very noisy, although our table in the front by the window was better than the back room. The chairs are extremely uncomfortable, little better than metal folding chairs. What should have been a fabulous experience, based on the food, was less than fabulous, based on the lack of comfort."

"Overall we enjoyed the food and drinks. HOWEVER, are res. were for 10pm. We were not seated until 10:30 ish.which was not a problem at all until I asked for more Toasted Italian bread to soak in my Brazino sauce. At which point I was told that that wasn't possible as the kitchen had apparently closed. REALLY? You can't TOAST some more Italian bread.? Boy it would have served much more beneficial to my wife and I to have learned that the kitchen was to close just 30 mins. After sitting down. Especially, after the server witnessed how much food we were ordering and after we expressed that we may be ordering more. NOT ONCE were we told that the kitchen would be closing soon. I have more but am limited. Unfortunately."

"This was our first visit and celebrating a birthday - Locanda Verde did not disappoint. The food was exceptional; if you are a foodie this place is for you. The wait staff was very attentive and our waitress was very knowledgeable about every ingredient, in every dish and what to pair with the different courses we ordered. She was a lot of fun and really added to the dining experience."

"We went on the recommendation of a friend who raved about the sheep's milk ricotta. Having tried it for both breakfast with the truffled honey and lunch, with olive oil and fresh herbs, we'd have to agree - it's outstanding! We're able to buy fresh sheep's milk ricotta in Toronto but were informed that Locanda Verde ships theirs from Sicily. Truly worth the visit. We will be making it a regular part of our visits' to Nyc."
