IPO showcases New Urban Cuisine with Executive Chef Trevor Hoyte’s take on Contemporary American flavors. Chef offers his signature “shared dishes” in a sophisticated stylish setting. Housed in the W Chicago City Center, IPO captures the elegant energy of the hotel’s 1928 beaux-arts architecture along with the bustle of the financial district, millennium park and the theatre district; giving the restaurant a downtown decadence.
"The section my group sat in was incredibly loud. I could literally hear everyone's conversations because the louder it got, the louder everyone had to speak to try to be heard. Food was very good, service was excellent, but since I go out for a lot of lunch meetings, I don't know that I would go back unless they put in some sound dampening equipment. I am not expecting it to be a library, just a normal restaurant noise level would be appreciated."

"The food was excellent. The beet salad included some interesting elements that really pulled the flavors together. The short ribs were outstanding. Other than the fact this is in the W hotel and the restaurant itself does not have much character the food was great and I would visit again."

"This is my last try at IPO, the service continues to be very inconsistent. I cannot have a business lunch and have to worry that the waiter is frankly a thug. The waiter was way too casual, pushy and clearly not trained. The menu deleted a great ahi tuna salad which was a staple, clearly the chef is NOT listening to the clientele. I shall simply cross Adams and go to The Florentine at the JW Marriott."

"Good grief. Service...how long does it take to get a second glass of the by the glass white wine? Nobody came to check. Finally after 15 mins my colleague had to get up and ask ? What? Then the head of wine rushed over to explain he couldnt find a bottle...but had finally found one... the house wine by glass. Yup.
Food was yummy. Bit much going on for my taste and bites were small to medium si if you have big appitite think sbout ...i dont so was happy with portion. Not many choices on menu.
No many people at all there on a rainey nite perhaps
This is an example of food that is good to really good, but customers lost in the execution. The second glass of wine free. At16 dollars for not that generous glass it helped. Wont be"

"Met my son for his birthday lunch. Arrived at 12:45, didn't get food until 1:30 so my son, who was on his lunch hour, had to eat his mushroom crusted salmon in 8 minutes. No apologies, or even acknowledgment, of how slow the service was. Oh, and I picked the place based on its on-line menu (at its website) which didn't match the one posted outside the restaurant, which didn't match the one inside (which had way fewer things I'd want to eat). I'm not going back!"

"Beautiful decor-veryodern & upscale. Within the W hotel which has a beautiful lobby so a good meetup place. The service was great as was the food. We went to the oriental theatre so had free valet parking which was an added bonus!"

"We enjoyed an early dinner at IPO before seeing "The Book of Mormon". It was a convenient location for us and we took advantage of their theater menu. The food was very good, nicely presented, and plenty for a before-the-theater dinner. We enjoyed our overall experience at IPO."

"This was my first trip to IPO and I wasn't pleasantly surprised. It's a convenient business lunch spot, although it can be a little loud during peak hours. Still, we were seated at a spacious table and had little trouble conversing. Our server was pleasant, prompt, and attentive enough to refill our beverages without intruding on the conversation."

"I went during a quick work lunch. I made reservations for around noon, but the restaurant was not busy so I am sure I could have just walked up and got a seat right away. I ordered the quinoa chicken meal. It was a great meal - high protein, low fat, and not a heavy meal. The service was very good, we got our food on time and they were able to process our checks right when we requested the bill."

"The service was very poor! Our serverer didn't come to check on us once! The food was good but it took a long time for anything to come to our table!"

"Nothing great to say. The food was fine, although expensive for what we got. The mixed drinks were incredibly over-priced. I left very unsatisfied, even though the food was enjoyable. Not planning to ever go back."

"In line with W hotel branding, décor and ambiance. The food is artistic, a lot of style, flavorful, but very small portions. My date and I shared appetizer, main dish, dessert, and barely made a dent. Priced ok. Good, but not memorable."

"Food was great, but service was pushy. I appreciate a quick and attentive waitress during lunch in the loop, but she was really trying to rush us. I hadnt seen rhe friend I was meeting in months so we were in no hurry."

"Nice spot before seeing a show in the loop. Pricey for what you get though. Not a fan of the beet salad (too sweet for me) and entrees were decent. Enjoyed the spicy naan like flatbread. Good place for a drink and shared apps."
