Left Bank is an authentic Parisian-style brasserie located in the historic Blue Rock Inn in charming downtown Larkspur. Built in 1895 during the railroad era, The Blue Rock Inn was a popular weekend destination for San Franciscans to come dance and picnic under the stars.

"Scheduled a special dinner for my husband, which I made a point of mentioning in my Open Table reservation. First disappointment was that our table was so cramped between two other tables that I could see the nose hairs of the guest next to us. The young guest was eating dinner with an elderly gentleman who was hard of hearing. So they yelled at one another throughout their meal. I couldn't talk with my husband, as I couldn't hear him over the cacophony. Finally, no birthday mention when dessert came, no candle. Nothing. We've eaten here several times and with each successive visit we find we're more disappointed. We'll think twice about choosing this place again for a special occasion - or even at all."

"This wonderful restaurant offers a European flavor while not being overly formal. The food is wonderful - the menu is varied and delicious. The atmosphere is comfortable and lovely...almost feel like you are in a city in France. The employees are very congenial and nice...and the service was prompt but not rushed.
And, they brought my mother a little dessert with a candle for her birthday!"

"I was there with a group of nine. We were seated at a round table which I really liked because we all could see and talk to each other. I and three others had the lamb sandwich which was excellent. One wanted fries rather that the arugula salad, and they complied eagerly. Both the fries and the salad were delicious. One of us had the oysters and they were sumptuous and ample. We had a very nice experience."

"My wife and I and our family have eaten here countless times so I guess we were do for a disappointment. Service ,as usual, was just fine. Cocktails and appetizers spot on. Now we come to the entrees. Duck and trout both yummy. Friday night special: Bouillabaisse..not so special. Pretty darn tasteless..lots of waaaaay over cooked seafood. Simply, without a doubt, the worst Bouillabaisse I've ever had! Two very nice desserts followed with a 20 year port and a Sauternes that came from the bottom of the bottle and shouldn't have been poured due to the excessive amount of residual sugar. Love this restaurant but someone needs to pay more attention to what's in the bowl and in the glass."

Food has been very consistent, and a burger always does wonders for the soul
Oysters and Moules to start, always, and the classic French dishes are also the way to go
(Coq au Vin)
The wine prices seemed to have increased, and the service is just adequate
Yet, for a neighborhood spot, it always satisfies
Some of the servers and the tall bartender can be surley
We really love the brunches there, and the coffee is robust"

"Spur of the moment dinner on a Friday night so we were lucky to get a great table for two. We were disappointed that this lovely French restaurant had adopted the American service attitude, rush, rush, rush! We hadn't finished swallowing the last bite of our starters and they were whipped away. Our waitress came back every few minutes to take our next order, we had told her that we wanted to take our time but she still kept coming back and filling up the 3/4 full wine glasses. When we ordered the entrees they arrived so quickly that we wondered if they had read our minds. The duck was barely warm so we asked to heat it up and the scallops were hot and delicious. I would go back for a quick lunch but not for a leisurely evening out."

"I took my honey here for his birthday. He hadn't been there for seven years and I even longer. The food was amazingly good - he had lamb - and I had ravioli (I'm a vegetarian). The server was super attentive and friendly. He gave us plenty of time with our drinks and appetizer. I had requested online if they could put a birthday candle on his dessert. At the end of the meal, voila! A profiterole with a candle. And, as a gift, they didn't even charge us for it. Classy move. This will ensure that we return. A bit pricey but perfect for a special occasion. The only request I would have is that they space the tables a little further from each other. We heard the whole life story of an exuberant first-date duo. But, hey, they were interesting."

"Moules were good, not great (at least 3 shells did not open!!) Tarte flambe was like cardboard--Trader Joe's is much better. We have had lunch here for years, and this time it was less good than in the past. Service was very slow--nearly 1/2 hour between courses."
