"We also had good service. We were 20 minutes late for our reservation for brunch on Father's Day, and they had no problems seating us. The food was tasty and arrived quickly. I will definitely return to Tableau soon!"

"Had our 33rd wedding anniversary dinner here because we had been before and my wife said let's go again. A very friendly place quite cozy, met a couple from Denmark and helped make them feel welcome to Canada. Will go back again."

"First time at Tableau, I was concerned about noise levels after reading negative comments, but it was surprisingly quiet. Half way through a large group sat behind us so noise levels went up a bit but nothing disruptive.
The food was excellent. My husband had the rabbit terrine to start and loved it. I 'only' had the garden salad but it was perfect - tender leaves, lovely vinaigrette.
For entrées my husband had the steak frites. The meat was tender and tasty, and he adored the sauce. I had the special: beef tenderloin cooked sous vide, with crispy polenta. It was amazing: possibly the most tender beef filet I have ever had. Our waitress was very attentive but never overbearing and made great wine recommendations.

"we were there on sunday morning. lovely venue. the server did not know the menu and stumbled to special requests. no specials, no refills for coffee and very slow to respond to any requests. they certainly need to step up their game and offer more if they want to be a destination"

"The decor is beautiful, classy and warm without being too stuffy. The service was perfect...our waiter even had a French accent! The food was delicious with great presentation, and our waiter did a great job with wine pairings. We also really enjoyed the signature cocktail list. Our only regret was not staying for dessert. We can't wait to go again!!"

"During our recent trip to Vancouver we had a chance to dine here and were very excited after reading great reviews. They did not disappoint! The food was great, cooked perfectly, flavors blended well and arrived promptly. Service was great on all ends, from the hostes greeting us with a smile and happily taking our coats, to the server explaining all the options with a smile and delivering our food with great timing. Would definitely recommend this place, over and over."

"my first experience here was great - food, service, ambience - so i was excited to bring my husband and teenage son on a return trip. unfortunately that was less great and will be the last time i eat here. even though the restaurant was not full, the three of us were jammed in a small, made for 2 corner table, and with two males over 6 feet tall it was an uncomfortable evening. at the end the waitress asked us if we were too cramped and suggested that next time we ask for a different table. we shouldn't have to ask - i was kicking myself that i let them sit us there in the first place but with a hefty bill for appies, dinner, cocktails and wine, i sure won't do it again."

"Had dinner night we arrived as it was part of our hotel. We sat outside & were served by Bob who could not have been more helpful, he recommended a lovely wine for me & beer for my husband. The food was excellent & it was an all round great experience. We had a drink in the bar later & again the bar staff were excellent would defiantly recommend this restaurant, bar & hotel."

"We celebrated our son's birthday at Tableau, this is my 3rd visit and the food and service have consistently been top-notch. I love the french bistro food there, frites in a basket and fresh, warm sourdough bread. Had the porkbelly/prawn appy (delicious) and steak + frites. Our server was attentive and sensitive to some people in our group's gluten / dairy intolerance. Fairly high noise level is a negative though, it was a bit difficult to carry on a conversation - which could be the music or poor acoustics. It is a great spot to stop in if you live in the neighbourhood - Downtown / Coal Harbour. Street parking is fairly easy to get (but a bit pricey)."

"We reserved in this restaurant for my girlfriend's b-day; I wanted to go for a long time since I heard about it all the time on the radio (Rock 101 Vancouver). To be honest I was cautious as we have had not to many good experiences with pretentious french restaurants before, but I was thinking why not try one more time.
I must say this spot is one of the best kept secrets in Vancouver; to put it in a few words, great food at a reasonable price, great service (with the right level of intrusion while eating), very nice place and quite enough for our taste (you can keep a conversation without yelling).
The trout tartar is the best starter I have ever had in any restaurant in Vancouver, period.
Keep the good work!"

"A group of six went there for lunch and received excellent service when we arrived. Some of us ordered the lamb shank risotto and we love it much. The food arrived pretty fast, so we have time to try desserts. We ordered the cream brulee, ice cream and chocolate mousse, but they were not as outstanding as the entree."

"In anticipation of a milestone birthday, I wanted to try something different in terms of Vancouver restaurants and Tableau went well beyond my (and my husband's)dining expectations. Our server was very helpful(with a killer sense of humour)and provided me with much needed moral support as I tried (and thoroughly enjoyed) Kushi oysters for the very first time :-D Our meals were prepared beautifully and without any pretention which was very refreshing (especially in a city where some establishments feel using 'fluff' is the only way to sell a green salad and follow up with a less than stellar ingredients)."

"It was a great lunch, however space was pretty tight and was hard to have a personal conversation without our neighbours looking over and listening in. A little awkward. Food was great, but portions are on the smaller side. Wish I had ordered two entrees for lunch!"

"No, no, a thousand times no. This trended downtown eatery is all hard edges with a predictable menu and uninspired wine list. Worse, though, is the noise level. Because there is nothing in the room to absorb sound - no textures, no soft surfaces - the noise level makes it impossible to have nice evening. We left, never to return."

"Nothing against the ambiance in this restaurant - we had the most annoying and loud table beside us. Unfortunately it was busy and there was no where else to sit. But the whole thing was distracting and I couldn't even speak to my dining partner. It left a bad taste in my mouth.
However the duck confit was crispy and delicious!"

Reasonable price point for some items & then overcharge on others for what you get ESP. On the evening special items. (An unwelcomed approach that some restaurants use to make more $$)

"I took my very picky parents and my mom was apprehensive since it wasn't her beloved Chambar .... After out meal with the fabulous cocktails and we had an outstanding waiter.... She changed her mind and said she preferred tableau..... I thought I was in the twilight zone.... I agree but y'all don't know my mom and her opinions!!

"Well, you must know by now I love the place. I'm in every week, sometimes twice. Have never had anything here I didn't like. The standard menu is great and filled with French bistro classics. Daily specials are abundant and forever-changing. Today, I had two items off the board - asparagus sweet pea soup and trout tartar!"

"I live in the neighbourhood and had heard about it from some friends (all good!) but when we were deciding where to go for dinner I was resistant, didnt want to dress up. Made the call, we didn't have to, so of we went. Service was great, a bit cheeky. Food was delicious! It ended up being pricey but we were so happy with the food and service that we felt it was well worth it!"
