Located in the heart of the Chevy Chase villages, a mile away from busy Bethesda and a few blocks North of the District of Columbia, La Ferme has been serving Contemporary French food since 1985. Our covered patio can be used for dining or a private function (Spring to Fall) Romantic setting with lots of private tables (including 2 balcony tables for 2).

"I thought the brunch was priced very competitively with plenty of variety. The best surprise was the beautiful presentation of the dessert plate.
I had casually mentioned it was our Anniversary and the plate came out with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate and a candle in a strawberry.

"La Ferme is definitely a special occasion restaurant, so I don't eat there very often. But happy to say that nothing has changed from the last experience. The ambience is great, not too loud. I kept my order simple, steak, and it was cooked perfectly. The chocolate and grand marnier mousse cake was light and not too sweet, a perfect way to end the meal. There was also a guest with gluten-free requirements which was handled with no issues (although, would be helpful to have a few gluten-free desserts as options). Returning to the restaurant reminded me how of great it is, I won' t wait too long until the next special occasion !"

"Our meal was perfect from start to finish. We had an early dinner reservation, so for most of our meal the restaurant was more than half empty. Flawless from all aspects. Excellent food--we mainly went with chef's recommendations. Can't beat the free off street parking."

"We had a delicious meal at La Ferme. Our dinners were very tastey (stuffed chicken and fricassee). The highlight for us was the french onion soup AND Amaretto souffle. It was too cold to dine outside but the deck looked inviting. We split a Caeser salad and the soup and our waitress had the portions split on 2 different plates/bowls- nice touch!"

"The service was very attentive and the restaurant has 2 tables on their own private balconies overlooking the rest of the restaurant. The food that was ordered was cooked very well (try the Chocolate Souflee... really amazing). They also have a live piano player which adds to the ambiance, however if you sit on the balcony close to the speaker you can forget about hearing your dinner date.
The outside of the restaurant is much cuter than the inside which needs a facelift. As I said, everything was cooked well, however the menu is pretty scattered and doesn't feel like a french restaurant just because they have steak au poive.
Overall: Not sure if I will go back for dinner, but I may try their brunch which always looks amazing online."

"LaFerme is my go-to restaurant to bring clients and friends. It is perfectly located between Silver Spring and Bethesda with plenty of parking. It is elegant and quiet, with a great lunch menu that is reasonably priced. The service is friendly, but very professional and discrete. It is also lovely for an afternoon glass of wine at the end of the day, especially now on the deck. There is a private room in the restaurant that is perfect for larger business lunches or conference with a table that seats 20, or can be used as a private area with its own service bar for a stand up reception for twice that many. I have used the restaurant for baptism brunch, baby showers and other social occaisons as well. Elegant and upbeat. Great place."

"This was our first time at La Ferme and we had a wonderful experience. The menu was varied and we each had something different, so I was able to get a sense of many dishes. There was not a "miss" amongst them. The spring vegetable terrine was especially fresh-tasting and beautifully presented. An older guest found the NY strip steak tender and flavorful, and the veal was artfully done and seasoned beautifully. Desserts were superb: chocolate and marzipan Charlotte for me, and the others dishes, all light and flavorful. And the ambiance is lovely! A beautiful setting for a beautiful meal. One little quibble: our wine bottle was set away from the table and our server was not as assiduous as we would have liked. But we will return!"

"Mom is 95 and has always loved all things French. The staff was so gracious with her. As soon as the maitre d saw us, he switched us to a table in an area without steps. The restaurant is designed to look like a large provincial farmhouse; very lovely, and so evocative, she began speaking in French half way through the meal (she is not French and I haven't hear her speak it in almost thirty years). The three course prix fixe meal was delicious and interesting. Mom raved with almost every bite. When my husband found an error on the check, the owner came to our table, apologized, and comped every extra item on the check. Only drawback: If you stay downtown, and don't have a car it's, it's an almost eight mile cab ride."

"A solid neighborhood tradition if a little on the dated end of the spectrum of decor (while still being intended atmosphere appropriate). The food was genuinely of a French character and the preparations, are tasty. Rabbit is a highlight ,salads fresh and crisp (at this dining), appetizers interesting and entrees varied. if your looking to pretend you're in France and having an quite upscale rustic repast...you'll get that with good service and plenty of space (it's a big place sometimes packed but often lightly populated) . Can't really go wrong just don't expect to be blown away by originality (still, there are only a few places like this left in this area....some with better food and reputations) but Le Ferme is Le Ferme, thank goodness"

"On a lovely evening for dining al fresco, we often gravitate to nearby La Ferme, which again did not disappoint. The patio is among the most pleasant in the area, service was efficient, and the food is traditional French fare and very good. We have brought our teenage sons there for special occasions, and they gobble up the fresh baguettes, snails or onion soup, Caesar salad, and bistro steak. Yes, there are many graying heads in the restaurant (though not on the patio), but the ample parking lot is a feature appreciated by all ages."

"Make sure to order a souffle for dessert. They are fabulous! There were five in my party (all family) so we each tasted each others food. Everything was good. I thought the mussels were a bit overcooked, and would have like more snails in the escargot. I would definitely go back; the ambiance is wonderful, and the service was great."

"La Ferme is great if you are looking for a classy french meal without the hassle of going downtown or fighting Bethesda parking. Food is very good but not great (mussels app and souffle are notable exceptions that were outstanding). Service is attentive but not as polished as you normally get at those prices. Live piano music in the background is a very classy touch that you don't find much anymore and is a real enhancement to the evening."

"We were celebrating a friend's 80th birthday. She had a marvelous time. She enjoyed everything she ordered except the liver. She felt it should have been cooked a little more. The piano player was a delight!
I've dined at La Ferme a number of times and the last two times {same server} I felt our server was a tad abrupt. When dining at an establishment such as La Ferme I expect nothing but quality service. This particular server needs to work on his interpersonal skills. Otherwise, We will return however because the food and the ambience are tres magnifique!"

"Most excellent evening as it was our 20th wedding anv. The wait staff and chef were outstanding and the food was exceptional. Having spent many years in the European Theater (Germany, Italy and Belgium) you have created an enviroment that made us feel we back leaving across the ocean.

"The setting is beautiful, the souffles are to die for, the main courses and appetizers are usually very well done. Never had a bad experience (except for the service a couple of times, which can be quite slow when the kitchen gets backed up.) But one doesn't go to La Ferme for a quick meal, but rather a relaxing one. So if you go with that attitude,slow service isn't the end of the world and the experience is wonderful. We love the place."

"Wonderful, classic French food in an inviting atmosphere. The menu changes enough to keep you coming back, but there are always the classics that you count on. Most of the wait staff have been there for years and they know just how to pace you through a meal - there when you need them, not hovering when you don't. Our Easter dinner was perfect - everything you would expect to be on the menu with the twist of a delicious seafood pot pie brimming with scallops, shrimp, fresh peas and pearl onions. Don't miss this unpretentious, but excellent classic!"

"La Ferme is perfect for a romantic meal or celebrating a special occasion, no matter what time of year. If you're dining in the winter, the roaring fires and cozy ambiance set the perfect mood; or in the summer, dining on the patio is delightful. I've dined at La Ferme for brunch several times, and it was delightful; however, this Easter brunch was lackluster. The menu was good, but our service was not. Unfortunately, we only saw our waiter twice the entire meal and it was hard to get the attention of any other wait staff. While this particular experience wasn't the greatest, I would still recommend brunch or dinner. Our mother's day brunch last year was exquisite!"

"All food for the four of us was exceptionally good. It was Easter, and unfortunately, we felt somewhat rushed. We could have sat there awhile before desert, as the dinner was plentiful and delicious. However, the food and ambiance made it very worthwhile. Inexpensive Merlot was really good. We'll be back soon."

"The restaurant was overbooked and overcrowded. We waited 30 minutes beyond our reservation time to be seated, and another 15 minutes to be served a drink.La Ferme is a lovely restaurant and nice for special occasions, but they were severely overbooked for Easter. This did not make for a positive experience."

"Service could have been quicker and more friendly. Wine list okay but overpricred. The bottle we selected sold for $47 but could be bought retail for $12, representing a markup of 300 percent. Food very good and La Ferme is one of the very few restaurants in Washington DC where they serve excellent souffle for desert!"
