"We've been to Orso's on and off over the eight years that we've been here. It didn't start out as one of favorite restaurants but over the past couple of years, I'd rank it right up there with the best that Anchorage has to offer (and that's saying something). We had the halibut on this occasion and it was to die for--perfectly cooked and seasoned just right. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable.
Had a elderflower martini in the bar and it was fabulous!
If you haven't been in awhile, I urge you to go and you've never been, you're missing out on some amazing food."

"We went to Orso for Father's day brunch. My husband had been there previously for happy hour drinks and appetizers, of which he raved about. We looked forward to the full menu. Husband ordered the crab stuffed rockfish, served on a bed of israeli couscous and accompanied by broccolini. It didn't live up to the hype. I had the Orso Benedict, which the waitress proclaimed was the best in town; I found it to be severely lacking. Crab was muted in flavor by onions and lacked texture, one of my poached eggs was overcooked (yoke hard) and the stone ground mustard hollandaise was like a thick dijionaise rather than a hollandaise sauce. Best part of our meal: smoked salmon artichoke dip & fried ravioli appetizer, mimosa and sangria!"

"I'm a fan of Orso over many years and have loved the great majority of what I've eaten there. This time, unfortunately, there was some room for improvement. One member of our party found the Orso Osso Bucco insufficiently tender. On my own plate, the broccolini had that old-sweat-socks flavor that broccoli can get. But I do give thumbs up to the crab-stuffed rockfish, and my friend's chicken linguine met with complete approval. The calamari appetizer was very well received by those who didn't mind the spicy burn at the end (not for everyone but quite nice as a spicy thing). Our favorite molten chocolate cake did not disappoint. I'll still recommend Orso to anybody looking for great dining in Anchorage, unless I'm dissatisfied again."

"I like to dine, not just eat. The food is always good and the servers are extremely helpful for making choices. This resturant has never disappointed me. Also the customer is encouraged to order according to their dietary requirements without feeling as if it is a bother to the establishment. I love that about Orso's."

"Orso is so convenient for events at the PAC and the food is fabulous! WE had wonderful, innovative appetizers such as salmon-spinach dip with flat bread and fried polenta with a delicious balsamic ketchup. Wonderful. I had the crab stuffed rockfish and it was so delicious it was difficult to stop with half still on my plate but the leftovers next day were awesome! Service was a little spotty and we were sitting near an aisle and a service shelf but all the servers were polite and knowledgeable about the menu.Whenever we asked someone other than our waiter for something, such as butter, it appeared almost instantly. I recommend Orso to anyone looking for an excellent meal in friendly surroundings and especially for attending downtown events."

"Orso has really "gone off" in the last year or so. Our server was wonderful, I appreciated his positive attitude and ability to multi-task his large section. The noise level was almost intolerable, not much you can do about that. The food was not good at all from temperature to presentation to taste. Bland, not good at all. As someone who lives downtown and enjoys walking to restaurants I will opt for another establishment. Sad!"

"I enjoyed my experience at Orso the other night the food was great, service was perfect and overall we felt welcome and relaxed. The only improvement I would suggest is the calamari was not good. It reminded me of something out of a fast food restaurant. We really enjoyed the Tritip bites with the smoked salmon spinach dip, suggest to guests that they eat them together! "We enjoyed Orso quite a lot. Service was outstanding and the ambience just as good. That said, my filet mignon could've been a tad more tender and it was served medium rather than the medium rare that I asked for. The King salmon that my fiance had was very good, but seemed to lack in seasoning as compared to some other restaurants that we've sampled. 4 out of 5 on the main course, 5 out of 5 on the appetizers, deserts, and wines. 5 out of 5 on service and ambience. Overall, we'd gladly go back and can certainly recommend this restaurant to others."

"Orsos continues to be one of our favorite restaurants. Great downtown location. Excellent food, wine, and beer selection. The servers are what makes it really good though. They are very attentive and friendly."

"My friend and I had a wonderful time there. I had made reservations on line and asked for a table where there was less noise so we could chat and catch up. We were seated in a small room on the side. I was so happy to see this. Our server, Stephanie was polite, there when needed, otherwise left us alone. We had an engagement and food and beverages were brought quickly with no hint of hurry.Thank you!"

"It's been years, but once again I was reminded of the elegance of the Orso atmosphere - very nice. We had a reservation (for 4) at 6:15, and were seated almost immediately. Our server was very hospitable, and she did all that she could to serve us, but from the time we sat down until the time we received our check was a total of 2 hours! Be prepared to wait a little while.
As the wine decreases, so increases the noise. Not as loud as the Brewhouse but still very 'energetic.' The benefit of enduring this is, of course, for the food. It was very good, although it lacked that last bit of flavor to make it truly excellent. Example: my salmon was cooked perfectly, but it just wasn't very flavorful. I'll be back, but it may be a while."

"At the urging of the manager, we decided to give Orso another shot after the poor dining experience we had for our anniversary in January. We took my parents to Orso on 5/6 to celebrate their 52nd wedding anniversary. They were out of the sparkling wine we ordered but made a suitable substitution for the same price. The service and food were both outstanding. This is what we had expected on our first vist to Orso. Thanks for the wonderful evening. We will be visiting Orso again."

"The food is always good, as is the wine selection. The crowded table layout is less than desirable. Once the restaurant filled up the area around the tables out in the middle of the floor area were so tightly packed that the customers and waiters could not move through the available floor space without bumping into each other or other tables. Very unprofessional and driven by the bottomline?
The same goes with how tightly the middle tables were crowded in next to the booths. So much for a romantic evening with a date? Saw several couples move or leave because of this.
New menu is not as informative as the old one was? Wine list the same!"

"ORSO is a popular local venue. This particular meal was not very well done, but that is unusual for ORSO - perhaps the chef was having an off night. The service was excellent! I'd recommend it to visitors, and for meals before attending events at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts. Good date night place."

"I was surprised to find such an excellent Mediterranean restaurant in downtown Anchorage, not known for its exotic cuisine. But from start to finish, ORSO was wonderful: from the waitstaff to the quality of the ingredients to the attractive presentation to the delicious flavors and textures, ORSO was a delight. And well priced! We will be back on our next visit to Anchorage!"

"After visiting Orso at least once a week since July of 2013, and now working in Houston, I can truly classify Orso as a Neighborhood Gem. The menu offers something for everyone, and even some unique items like Mediterranean Meatloaf--something my Mom didn't make for sure. I was always impressed when I walked through the door and was greeted BY NAME by the greeters. The service was always exceptional and I look forward to a time that I can return to Anchorage and again go to Orso."

"We were looking forward to our meal and it started well with our favorite salad, "Insalata Orso". I chose the filet and I should have ordered fish like I usually do because I asked for "medium well" and it wasn't only "very well" it was burnt quite badly on the underside.
I did not send the dish back and I realize that I should have to give you the chance to rectify the mistake.
Apart from that small thing our service was special, and she went out of her way to help us obtain the bread pudding from next door.
