Ivar’s Original Acres of Clams has been a Seattle tradition since 1938. The city's colorful waterfront at Pier 54 provides a scenic backdrop for this attractive yet informal restaurant where, as ferryboats glide by the window, you'll dine on Ivar's traditional favorites and other delicious Northwest seafood from our daily fresh sheet. "The wait staff are always friendly and the food is high quality every time; a wonderful dining experience. The Summer Berry Salad is a gem; I wish it was on the menu all year. The clam chowder is consistently the best; no other restaurant comes close."

"Ivar's Acres of Clams is a Seattle institution. They don't usually have brunch here anymore (Salmon House in the U-District has one every Sunday) but they decided to have one for Mothers Day. The food was delicious, except I will have to say the crab legs were a little salty and not as sweet as usual. But overall the food was good the service was good as well."

"Overall, our experience was very good. The view and location are hard to beat and Ivar's is a solid staple in Seattle. Evening was off to a rocky start as we were not seated until 20 minutes past our reservation time. Kind of defeats the purpose of a reservation at some point. Our server was excellent and effecient even though the restaurant was very busy. Food was good to very good depending upon the selection. Wine list was solid. Overal, very enjoyable."

"Food mostly good quality in reasonable portions, priced 20% more than it's worth. Staff seemed short; waiter never able to give personal service or touch or much else; kept laughing at his mistakes (4/4 of mixing up who ordered drinks, soup, food, etc).Crackers delivered stuck in soup made mess opening package. Prices set to keep people away rather than as value for service and food provided."

"Ivar's Acres of Clams has been a favorite in our family for many years! We come here for special occasions and bring out of town guests whenever they visit so they can experience wonderful Seattle seafood. We've always had great food, all the way down to the kids menu. I was very pleased to see grilled salmon on the kids menu because my toddler loves salmon! She devoured the whole thing and even had room for chocolate cake. We always have a good experience every time we go."

"Of dining at Ivar's the evening prior to Mother's Day and it was definitely an extremely busy time down on the waterfront. Our requested window table was ready, our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. Our drinks arrived quickly. We ordered the prawn cocktail which I would suggest adding a 6th prawn to so its equal for sharing. We both had Boston clam chowder and the bacon wrapped fresh Alaskan halibut, which were out of this world! The baby yukon gold potatoes were ok

"Typical expensive prices for a nice harbor view, but lacks merit when it comes to the food. Plain fish, weird waiter practices as well as unfriendly (no goodbye, thank you see you again). Go if you don't know where else to go on the harbor. Drinks were cheap though"

"We were seated near a windwon as we asked for. The food is always good at Ivar's but service was a bit slow. Mayeb it ws the timeof the day. Sort of too late ofr lunch and early for dinner. They were not that busy so maybe the server's were just taking abreak too. All in all, I would always recommend Ivar's for great seafood even though it is a bit pricey, but portions are large."

"We had a wonderful time! Our group was a family occasion of a number of people who don't often see each other. There was plenty of room for each of us to move around, and talk with those who we were not sitting next to, originally! The great view of the ferries coming and going made our dinner that much more enjoyable."

"We were late for our reservation as we had just come from Victoria on a ferry. The restaurant staff was very understanding and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and the view of the water was great! We will definitely go back when we are in the area."

"The food was awful. It's a bad tourist trap with basically fried style high fat really bad food. The fried surf clam was somewhere buried in breaking, the side salad was the worst...not the leaves, but my balsamic dressing on the side was like a really think glue, think mayo but even thicker. For a main i had the tacos, with really over cooked blackened fish and a terrible tasteless bedding of something. My partner had the salmon which was just barely okay. Almost 120 dollars with one beer and a glass of wine for lunch. Save your money folks."

"My 2 young children and I arrived 45 min early for our reservation and were immediately seated. I have a picky 8-year-old and an adventurous 5-year old, and they both found something they would like to eat with no trouble. All the food was excellent, as was the wine I ordered. Our server was attentive and service was quick, and when the manager came by to check on us, he even chatted for a bit with my kids. I'd recommend to anyone; we'll definitely be back."

"It was the 4th day after Halibut season opened, so there were several nice preparations for the best fish in the world (according to me!). So from a food perspective the choices were nice and appropriate sized. Unfortunately the service was lacking in that we ordered/reminded our server 3 times for the same shared plate which he seemed to be taking care of, but then on the last time he said he never put the order in since he didn't think we wanted it! That and the really poor and limited wine list makes me say that I'll go somewhere else in the future."

"My entire family really enjoyed our Easter Brunch at Ivar's. The food was varied and delicious and of course the desserts were amazing (banana's foster in particular). The wait staff were great and all of this was made even better by the beautiful weather and scenic view we had of the sound. Thank you to all of you who made it special. It is hard from all of my family to get together since we live in 4 different states but we managed to pull off members coming from 2 out of the 4 states and Ivar's made it special."

"We made reservations for 9 a week in advance. When we arrived there were 10 - 15 people waiting for seats. We arrived exactly on time per our reservation. We waited about 13 minutes to be seated. We were taken to our table, it was not set up. More importantly, there were only 4 chairs at the table. The restaurant was absolutely full. I had to ask for the Manager. Five of us stood at the table for close to 10 minutes because there were no chairs to be had. Nonetheless, because we had 9 guests, they charged us 17% of our bill as a tip. Incredibly bad service. Wow!"

"I eat at Ivar's often, I would not recommend eating there for a buffet. To me and its only my opinion. The only thing good was the clam chowder. I like very much clam strips and I thought thats what they had at the buffet but it was a combo of less quality of fish. It was very dry. I thought the meat was to be a prime rib, not sure what it was but it also was on the dry side. My girl friend on the other hand was satisfied. She likes very much crab, so she was content."

"I have always loved Ivars. I have moved out of the area, but I try to always stop back in. They have a very nice kids menu, with a wide variety of offerings. The regular menu is quintessential northwest seafood. My stomach isn't large enough to hold everything I want to eat! I also loved the selection of local wines. "Wonderful water view, decent service. Bacon-wrapped halibut delicious and, like the salmon, perfectly fresh. Red clam chowder had the appearance and taste of way too much corn starch thickener and probably should have been sent back. Mussels in white wine sauce were not particularly good; not much sauce, and what there was tasted mostly of wine and was neither full nor well blended. Some butter and garlic might have helped. The beet salad had a generous chunk of blue cheese and was delicious."

"I've been coming to this location for years. I also celebrate Ivar's birthday each year and try to get a group together to enjoy in the festivities. The service we received was very good. All of the main dishes were very good. However, our calamari appetizer lacked flavor and was a bit too soggy for my liking.
I enjoyed the cake pop bites this year as the cupcakes from last year were a bit messy. The decorations were perfect and it was a good experience.
We were there for a friend's retirement lunch (it just happened to be on Ivar's birthday). I was disappointed that although I left a note in my reservation, it was not acknowledged. Staff did a fantastic job of trying to calm a child (I'm not sure why the parent was not doing it)."
