"After a small blip recently, the chef is solid and the food is back to it's former luster. The Margarita pizza is amazing and the fish dishes shine. I loved the salmon and the halibut also looked divine. The eggplant entree is a great vegetarian choice and is tasty by any standards. The Caesar salad is also flavorful--garlicky and tart. The wine choices are interesting and affordable and the wait staff is knowledgable and friendly. We particularly love Allison, who always steers us in the right direction and is always attentive. This is one of our go-to spots that always makes us feel welcome and satisfied."

"One of the real benefits of living in Royal Oak is having D'Amato's right around the corner. The food is consistently wonderful and the service is great! Even though it is a popular destination, you never feel rushed and the staff makes you feel as if you are the only table in the restaurant."

"We loved the restaurant after being there for the first time. The food was great, the ambiance great, and the atmosphere was good UNTIL the party started in the private room and they allowed people to leave the door open. We were sitting right next to the door. Women were screaming and it ruined our dinner. So, next time when I make reservations, I am going to ask to sit far from that room! I will definitely be going back under that condition!"

"Another great meal with some great wine to go with it. We loved the Margarhita pizza, which may be the best in town. Also, the salmon was perfectly prepared and delicious and the eggplant dish is hearty and flavorful. The Caesar salad is so good and Allison, our server, always makes us feel comfortable and special."

"The food was good and the servers were attentive. The wine list is extensive providing a wide price range. If I had to be critical of any point it would be the menu. It offered a narrow selection of meals. However, overall we really enjoyed our visit and would return again."

"This is our 3rd time to D'Amato's and we were very disappointed. We went on a Saturday night, they did not have any specials for the evening. Our waitstaff did not seem to care about her guest. She could not recommend one wine over another, nor recommend what was best on the food menu.

Our other two visits were much better than this one."

"Our waiter was awesome - he spent time talking to us about the restaurant, and we exchanged ideas of how to get more business thru advertising in local papers. We were offered "Endless Mimosas" which was really great. Food was excellent. The only reason we do not give it 5 stars is because the interior is very outdated, flooring needs repair/refinishing. With a little facelift, the place could be a great R.O. gem."

"My girlfriends and I enjoyed our Restaurant Week specials, which were served with a generous glass of wine. Our waitress was personable, prompt, friendly, and offerred excellent suggestions. The sauces were unique and I loved my gemelli, a shrimp pasta dish, that was so generous I took home some of it, so that I would have room for the tiramisu-excellent!"

"One of my fav restaurants in the Metro area. The food and service is always consistently exceptional (from the martinis to the dessert). I brought my fiance' who lives in NJ here because he always brags on the food in NJ/PA area. He was pleasantly surprised! This became a fast favorite for him.

"We didn't realize it was restaurant week and were thrilled with the smaller menu D'Amato's put together for the occasion. The food was delicious, wine and dessert were on point, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The only thing keeping me from posting a glowing review was the temperature of the restaurant itself - D'Amato's is housed in an older building with lots of windows, which makes for a pretty setting. However, it was so cold in the restaurant that it was distracting and uncomfortable, despite the space heater that a staff member plugged in near us."

"After a disappointing last meal at D'Amato's, they have made a comeback & we had a great meal. The Margarhita Pizza was delicious, Lasagna, although too salty was delicious and the salmon yummy. The service was superb, thanks to Allison. Wonderful wines, 1/2 off on Wednesdays-what's wrong with that? This has been a mainstay for several years, & we're delighted that it's back to it's former glory."

"After reading some great reviews of this restaurant, I was disappointed. The food was mediocre at best. I had the brisket and it was over sauced. The sauce was very rich and when combined with the sauce on the risotto, which it was served on top of, it was way too much. My boyfriend had the chicken marsala, which had no flavor at all.
We wouldn't go back."

"The staff are all helpful and polite. They have no problem going that extra mile for you, if you want flowers brought to the table or having a bottle of wine already at the table prior to your reservation. Glasses and bottles rarely stay empty for long and Food is incredible. The Chef and kitchen staff really have another level to them than other places do not. Fast! but too fast on meal preparation and appetizer to main course to desert time is almost perfect! My girlfriend and I have been going on our anniversary every year for the past two years and try to go at least three times a year. I think we may need to step up the visit rotation to once every two months. That is how enjoyable this past dinner was. Server Allison was Outstanding!"
