"This place is a great special occasion treat. You order off a menu and also select items from an open buffet. The buffet included sensational smoked salmon, lots of salads, beautiful fresh fruit and tasty (but not spectacular) sushi. Be sure to moderate your consumption, because the main course is huge. Everyone at out table order the crab cakes with spinach and poached eggs. Coming from the Pacific Northwest I was a bit hesitant to try crab in Chicago but I needn't have worried. The dish was as good as any I have had in Portland. After all this, dessert!. Small portions of lovely and decadent pastries. The ambiance is very nice and service was great. Small quibble--coffee is excellent and plentiful, but $5 a cup seems a bit pricey."

"We have been coming to Aria since we lived in the New East Side about 8 years ago and we have continued to return there when we visit. In the Fairmont Hotel, prices are moderate, the wait staff reliable and the food an eclectic interesting, tasty mixture of Chicago-style food. The Nan-bread served as bread, with several dipping sauces is good. Portions of food are big enough to share, especially if you are not in your 20's or 30's. I had the lamb chops this time, and my wife had grouper; both were excellent."

"The main course was Salty. Also corn while giving a Midwest character to the meal really did not suit scallops. The dish was not one but multiple separate and disparate entities. The wine choices were good."

"Everything was wonderful, but have to especially complement the wait staff. They responded to every request and were very intune to the needs of our group. The room with large round table and beautiful stone wall was perfect for us. We will definitely recommend to our friends traveling to Cicago."

"Innovative sushi selection. Light menu versus the many steak houses in the area. Duck was very good. Nice quiet place where you can dine on good food at leisure and talk."

"Ate here for dinner and breakfast. Food was good, but wait time for food and drinks were unusually long (at both breakfast and dinner). In fact, my dinner guest had to leave for an appointment before I was done with my entree. Also, the price was high for the overall experience. We ate at The Girl and the Goat the next day and had the fastest, most attentive service, with just as good or better food, plus the price was less. I would go back to one of these restaurants, and it wouldn't be Aria."

"I was worried when I saw the new menu, but the chef delivered. Really delivered! Every dish was delicious. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. We had the duck, grouper and scallops as entres. So much flavor....clean, fresh, crisp. Crab cakes and Fois gras as apps, yum. Killer french fries. Plates were licked clean."

"The vivid lunch crowd was such, that my sushi order did not reach my table in time to enjoy. After 35 minutes of waiting, my waiter and the hostess decided to make my order "to go", complimentary. It was a truly sweet gesture as I was about to leave for the airport. The business of the restaurant and the lively crowd suggested, that the place is a truly successful and pleasant eatery!"

"We have dined dozens of times at Aria and always regarded it as an underappreciated gem -- the food is always great, and a great value. We have returned many times for enjoyable dinners before attending events at the nearby Harris Theater. Unfortunately, on our two most recent visits, we experienced baffling, very long delays in receiving the entrees we ordered, forcing us to rush through our meal and rush out the door to reach the theater in time. Both times, the restaurant was not particularly crowded. It is hard to understand why this is happening, and maybe we were just unlucky. But it has happened twice in a row now, and we will probably go across the street to Felini next time."

"Nick, the waiter, took great care to make me feel welcome and cared for. The food, a vegetarian curry, was on the bland side with most unimaginative veggies (mostly squash and red peppers, one mushroom, only). There could have been so many Asian veggies added to it, considering the price! The Naan and the complimentary Almond Crunch as well as the Green Tea provided a nice touch."

"Aria is a very special place. Although in a well known hotel, the Fairmont, Aria is anything but ordinary. Low light focuses the diner's senses on the food and wine. Starting off with Enos, the wine bar, you enter the hotel knowing you are in for a treat. The wine bar is remarkable in selection, attention to detail, and quality. The restaurant guides you past the significant cocktail and sushi bar, both of which are excellent leading to the dinner table. Homemade bread and sauces complimented a remarkably nice cabernet. Grouper with chorizo and lentils in a colourful bowl presentation was a feast. Almond bark with coffee finished the excellent design of the chef and attendant staff. Aria is required relief for the weary guest."

"The menu was not as listed and the first course arrived burned. No one should ever consider this restaurant and your reviews are clearly from another time and chef. After the appatizer we left."

"This is an okay in hotel Asian fusion place. But our waiter was over the top, we dined to the smell of burnt naan, and the music does not match the atmosphere of the restaurant in any possible way. Rarely does music detract from a meal, but is sure does here. It sounds as thought someone though pumping the tunes from the adjacent bar into the restaurant would be a good idea. It is not."

"Food was 50-50 and a little weak in lamb, side dish areas. Too spicy and not revealed on menu or by waiter. Sushi, however is reliably terrific and not cheap. We live in the area and would to come often. Will try mussels next."

"This is an 'Asian-flavor' restauant..best blue-point lightly batter fried in a sabyon sauce oyster's I've ever eaten! absolutely succulent. I ordered the Duck breast 'pho' which put it in a large bowl with some broath, nice piece of fois-gras and 3 duck meat balls..almost too much food. One member had the shrimp Thai curry..was a bit spicy. The beet salad was superb. Highly recommend. We dine early at 5:30 to miss the crowd and the noise. :-) Our waiter had been serving in this hotel (Fairmont) restaurant for 17 years..that says a lot, n'est ce pas?"

"We have been to this restaurant several times but on this occassion it was quite disappointing and I blame it totally on the server! He never brougth their famous Naan which every other table got and he brought food to half our table (we were 7 in all) and the other half had to wait another 20mintues and we could find him to ask what was going on."

"Music was a little off putting for the type of cuisine, however food was very good, a little pricey, however very large portions. Great flavors, good wine list and friendly service. Beautiful decor, great for a date night, and attached to a sushi bar, great for after dinner cocktails. Valet parking is reasonable too at only $9."

"Ate from the set Valentine's Day menu. First portions were good, main was not all that great. Was like being at a reception where all the guests were served at the same time so food was prepared with little care. Seemed like they were short staffed as service was slow. Heard its a good spot for lunch, may try it again but only the sushi bar."

"Aria was a great place for a nice romantic dinner. Our server, Nick, was very helpful in describing the dishes and our food and drinks arrived quickly after ordering. The bread and dipping sauces were fantastic, the lentil sauce was my favorite. Dishes were large enough to be filling and worth the price. The complimentary almond bark after dinner was an excellent ending to the dinner. I would recommend Aria to friends and family who were looking for a place to go for a special or romantic occasion."

"Aria has an Asian theme. Had the duck dumpling and the oxtail soup apps. - both good. The level of 'heat' in the duck dumpling was welcome in the winter, but may be much during the summer. Entrees were the duck pho, and the pork tenderloin - both good. Duck pho a little cumbersome to eat. Coconut cake desert - good.
The price point was OK, and the service was good.
Nice pre-theater dinner venue."

"The food was worth it, and overall we enjoyed ourselves, but for the price ($$$$) we were expecting a better atmosphere and better service. We waited a long time to put in our order, and then everything came all at once. I was denied a glass of wine that was listed on the holiday menu (and I paid for), and my dessert came before my husband was even offered one. The ambiance was strange: they were playing current pop at a low volume at a romantic restaurant called Aria?"
