"Some friends of our dined here a couple of years ago and said it was great. I had the special roasted garlic creamy soup and shared the mustard crusted lamb chops. My husband had a salad and a baked potato. I opted for the avocado salad it was ok but in my opinion it has too much mayo. Over all really enjoyed our experience..."

"The noise level was a bit higher than I would have liked for my mother and my uncle, but not unreasonable. The service was good, but the attentiveness of our waiter could have been a bit better. The entrees were the stars of the evening. All four of the dishes we ordered were cook beautifully and the flavors were fantastic. The portions were huge. The best of the dishes was the special dry-aged new york strip steak."

I take clients out downtown very regularly and what sets Keefer's FAR ABOVE the competition is their warm welcome, desire to please and attention to detail. "Keefer's is a modern steakhouse. On a Saturday night, every table was occupied and the bar was full. The space is modern with hard surfaces and a very high ceiling so the noise level was high, but conversation was easy at our table for two. The fish taco appetizer was recommended by our waiter. The salsa verde was flavorful and had mild heat. Wet aged ribeye and NY strip were prepared expertly to temperature, with great steakhouse flavor that aging brings. The creamed spinach and french green lentils were out of this world. The baked potato was "steamed" and cut open with a knife, so did not have crispy skin or fluffy starch, so falls to "good". Next time we will try one of the other potato options. Otherwise, outstanding!"

"I'm not sure what was going on in the kitchen but the food was definitely sub-par. The creamed spinach was so watery it was impossible to eat. The waiter tactfully acknowledged the kitchen's poor performance. He recommended not to send back the spinach because "the cook had left for the night." I'm a huge Keefers fan so I was embarrassed about a poorly mixed drink, the indelible spinach, and an almost cold steak for my first time guests. Having said all that,the waiter was top notch.... redeeming the overall experience. I sincerely hope We had a rare off night. I will definitely give Keefers another chance."

"I've been a huge of Keefer's. I always enjoyed the food and service. It was a no-brainer for meeting with out of town clients and a recommendation for guests looking for a Chicago steakhouse experience. I used to feel so taken care of and appreciated at Keefer's.
But I won't be taking clients there anymore or talking it up. The last three times I've been there have been below average experiences. We had terrible, unengaged service Thursday night. My salad came with dressing, despite a request to have it on the side. My steak was overcooked. I was clearly the host, but was asked for my order first. The waiter dissapeared for long periods of time. And several people ultimately served us. Guess I need to find a new steak house."

"Great service the waitress was very attentive to our needs. One very appreciated act of customer first was the chef took the time to prepare a special Oyster Rockefeller dish for me that wasn't on the menu. We are starting a tradition of mens day in our family, everyone agreed that Keefers was a great pick to start it off. We will be back!!!!!"

"We dined early as we were going to the theater. When we arrived the room where we were seated was empty, yet we were given the table closest to the wait station clearly the least desirable table in the room. The maitre de spent several moments picking this table and could have chosen many better, as the room was only half full by the time we finished dining. We started with a beet salad which was very flavorful and ordered steaks which were prepared to our order, good but nothing exceptional. The whipped potatoes were quite "soupy" and thin, not whipped. Creamed spinach was excellent. The best part of our experience was our waiter. He was very pleasant, helpful with our questions, checked on us, but was not intrusive."

"It was very strange. We ordered a soup, an appetizer and a main course. The service was really bad. The main course was brought to our table before we had even finished the appetizer. The waiter has obviously noticed that. But instead of bringing the food back into the kitchen to keep it warm, he left the main course on our table. When we eventually finished the appetizer, the main course was already cold. This is definitely not what you expect from a restaurant in this price range. The place seems reasonable if you just go there for a steak or for fish. But if you look for a place to stay for a while and have a multi-course menu, you better go somewhere else."

"MY girlfriend and I attended keefers on Tuesday March 12. I was in visiting my Girlfriend and we were looking for a place near her work. I researched and and the decision came down to Keefers, Joes, or Sullivans. I was happy with our decision. I Ordered a Draft beer My girlfriend had red zin. We wer ther for the steaks so we skipped the appetizers. I ordered the porterhouse Medium rare cooked perfectly hot pink edges with a warm red center. I elected the blue cheese crust, very rich, it was good unfortunately it wasnt what my stomach was calling for so i found myself scraping some of it off. My Girlfriend had thefilet ordered medium a nd also cooked perfectly ala Dianne with a smooth redwine and mushrrom sauce. Recommend to anyone!"

"My wife and I had a great time at Keefer's. The salads we had were excellent - Wedge with Thousand Island dressing and the Bacon and Blue Salad. Unfotunately, I was not impressed with the New York Strip special of the day. Next time I will stay with a ribeye / delmonico. I did enjoy the Au Poive sauce. My wife ordered the chicken pot pie which was good but needed some bolder flavors. Our waitress Emily and the server staf did a great job with everything. They made our dining experience fun and enjoyable."

"Keefer's has been one of my favorite places for business and personal steak and fine dining since they opened. It is a really fun bar area, great service, wonderful steaks, and best of all fine dining up and down the menu. Keefer's menu and creativity really does makes every diner happy. Roomy, classy, comfortable dining room, or more casual dining in the bar. Highly recommend Keefer's!"

"We were downtown for an overnight spa weekend and this restaurant was recommended by several friends/family members at a party. We were not disappointed. The server was awesome and the food was delicious! We loved loved loved the Asian Pork Belly appetizer. The drinks were good size and the steaks were remarkable.
While we couldn't really say it was a romantic setting if that's what you're looking for, we would highly recommend Keefers."

"This was my first time to Keefer's and I was very pleased with the results. The menu was more diverse than I expected (I went for the Banh Mi sandwich) and portions were plentiful. The service was quick and attentive yet not obtrusive. All in a great spot for a business lunch and I look forward to trying the dinner menu soon."
