"Terrace in the Sky is a rooftop restaurant with great views of Manhattan. It's a very cozy, intimate place and truly perfect for date nights. The ambiance is fantastic, with a rose and candle on each table, and a musician playing the harp in the background.
I enjoyed the food, though it wasn't the best I've ever had. I found the menu a bit dated, but overall the appetizers and entrees were relatively good. The dessert however, was absolutely fantastic. I had the creme brulee with macaroons, which really lit up my eyes. The dessert was my favorite part of the meal. The staff were friendly and attentive, and overall, I definitely enjoyed the experince."

"Food was actually quite good. We had two appetizers, two entrees and two desserts and all were well prepared and nicely presented onthe plates. For a Friday evening, we were surpirsed that the restaurant was not full, but it was definitely not due to the level of the food. Good wine list also. Only surprising element was that with the limited numbers of patrons that evening, it surprised us that service was not more attentive. Water glasses remained unfiled for most of the meal. Coffee cups were not refilled; when a waiter was finally "caught" he refilled my wifes cup and then left, without filling mine. (I was so surprised I didn't speak until he was away from the table; I thought he was going to pass around me and fill my cup)"

"The food was pretty good as was the service until our entrees were delivered. After that we never saw our waiter again. Not once. Some of the senior staff jumped in when we needed the check, and to ask if we wanted coffee (after we had finished desert). Perhaps they were understaffed that day. "What a DISAPPOINTMENT! We were 2 ladies: maitre'd took us 1st to table by the kitchen behind a tree. After objecting we got table by the window. Place more than 1/2 empty. Maitre'd wanted our order 3 mins after we sat down then was condescending about Restaurant Week menu & we had to ask twice for wine list. Wine steward best thing all evening: nice & informative. Waiters were decent. 2 yr old child running around 7:30-9pm. Harp way too loud. Food OK, nothing special. We eat out often at $$$$$ NYC places & are forgiving about a lot, but this was slap-dash service, ambiance of a chain restaurant & average food for the price. View on 2 sides is nice, but no way makes up for the rest of it."

"The food was nothing special. We went on Valentine's Day on which the prix-fixed menu was a way over-priced $125 per person. Our first preferences had run out and were not available. While many window seats have great views, more than half the tables are inside and have no view. The place was however romantic - with a live harpist and a fireplace and candlelit tables. The service was ordinary and the waiters were not as commanding as at other high-end restaurants. Overall a good experience but way too over-priced."

"The dining experience was wonderful. Our table was on the interior however it looked out north towards the GWB. Very Romantic. The food was very well made and presented. Service was attentive and personal, so much so that the waiter came by the table after 45 minutes advising of an available window table. "Sad that I was so disappointed with the food. The view of the city is beautiful - the only reason I would go back is for a cocktail to enjoy the view. Otherwise, I would not go back. "My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary. We were here last year and it was great. I was disappointed in the hostility projected from the serve who fillet the fish. He was quiet upset and snapped at me when I asked him why he he was taking so much off. The waiter told me that he "just had a bad day, his car broke down". That was a poor excuse and although almost everything else was "okay" that left a bad taste in our mouths. I can't say that we will go back anytime so. I have been there over 5 times, and it seems like that one was the worse. Sorry. Nice view, great ambiance, but the staff needs to work on their attitude. The hostess wan't exactly friendly either."

"The staff were very nice. Free valet parking makes this a very easy experience -- even the valet was outstandingly nice and friendly.

"We went for dinner during restaurant week. As soon as you walk out of the elevator you can sense that this place is an upscale place, but not in a stuffy kind of way. You definitely get an old New York fine dining feeling. The decor is a little outdated but I think it adds to the character. The views are great. From where we were sitting, we had the view of upper Manhattan, still not bad. The place is on the 16th floor surrounded by floor to ceiling glass windows. My husband had the short ribs and he loved it. I had the organic chicken and it was ok. Service was amazing. The staff was very polite and friendly. We would go back and try the rest of the menu. I think the menu is priced reasonably for a fine dining restaurant."

"The food was really good and well prepared but it probably didn't have that "wow" that foodies would be looking for. The decor in the place was stuck in the the '80s - all the ornate decorations were a little stuffy for my taste but also there were fake flower decorations by the window sills that made it look like a Chinese restaurant. The harpist playing that evening was a great touch though. The thing I did not like there was the service. I think we had five different servers because they don't assign tables - the guy who took our order literally just said, "so what's going on?" to ask us if we were ready to order - No "Hi, I'm so-and-so, are you ready to order?""

"As you walk off the elevator you have entered into another world. The restaurant has a panoramic view which is breath taking. The food delicious and just the right portion. Excellent service from the waiters very attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend this place. Can't wait to go back again. Trying to give my boyfriend a hint this would be the place for a marriage proposal.....especially on the outdoor terrace.

"Would recommend to older people as the decor is very old and the ambiance is not too warm. But overall food is really good, service is excellent and the view is great. Has a Rainbow Room feeling to it for those who miss the Rainbow Room/Cipriani at the Rock. But it's not quite like it. Will return for a date"

"WOW! This is truly a gem! Need a romantic spot to take that special someone - this is the place! Superb food, excellent service, and one of if not the absolute best nighttime views in the entire city. Located on the roof of a building on W119 St, you can see for miles (literally). From almost any table in the glass enclosed dining room, you will have a view of the Empire State Building, Whitestone & Throggs Neck Bridges, Triborough Bridge, and the George Washington Bridge. Even if the view (and outdoor viewing in the nice weather) were not this good, Terrace in the Sky is a magnificent restaurant. The chef does an outstanding job with textures and flavors making every dish a dining experience. Try the Blitva, it was superb!"
