The Trident, formally 'Horizons" is now open!!
We recently completed our remodel and upstairs Skydeck addition showcasing the most amazing views!
In January 1981, this beautiful space was revived into Horizons restaurant. Inside is an incredible recipe of art and architecture, complemented with a resemblance of an old yacht. The ceiling mural was original to the Trident and painted by Dave Richards, creator of Janis Joplin’s infamous 1965 Porsche Cabriolet. On the outside deck, discover one of the most stunning restaurant waterfront views on the west coast, which boasts the skyline of San Francisco, Angel Island and Alcatraz. I had brunch here with some friends and everything was phenomenal. Our service our food (the Crab Cake Benidict, The Cioppino, Crab Louie, ALL wonderful.) Our waiter was helpful and personable. Great experience.

I brought my man for a special dinner. Our service was less than impressive. When we asked for recommendations the waiter didn't have anything great to say about anything. We ordered the Bibb & Blu Salad which was okay but nothing you cant make at home. The chowder, I cant say exactly what was wrong but it kinda tasted the stinky feet smell. and the Flat Iron Steak which was pretty yummy but a very small portion.
I will go back again for brunch but probably not chance it on dinner again."

"Four of us chose the Trident in Sausalito to celebrate a birthday. Of course, the view of San Francisco and the bay is spectacular, with everything from huge cargo ships to three-story party boats to rowboats going past right outside the window. The food was, on the whole, delicious, except for the drinks (a gin drink and a vodka drink), which tasted strange. The wait staff was attentive and unobtrusive. The noise level was extreme (hard to carry on a conversation); maybe the restaurant could install some noise buffers. The musician should be placed elsewhere on the top floor for maximum effective listening. And, the $5./hour mandatory fee for valet parking (except for the first hour, which is free) was an unwelcome surprise."

"My new favorite restaurant in beautiful Sausalito! Fascinating history ... wonderful ambience ... attentive, gracious service ... excellent live music ... valet parking ... fabulous view ... beautifully-presented dishes of sustainably caught seafood and local organic produce using perfectly-prepared, top-quality ingredients ... this place has it all. My guests, who are seriously hardcore foodies, adored the scallops. I had THE BEST fish & chips (with terrific fresh cole slaw plus marvelous garlic fries) I have ever eaten anywhere. This place is just fun! And snazzy! You can fall in love with this place very easily ... I did :)"

"Kudos to the staff! The host stand was all smiles, we didn't have to wait for our reservation and our server Fernando was fantastic. Very attentive and professional, and our meal was delicious.
Outside seating can be chaotic though... We were cramped in a corner and guests were climbing all around us for seats at the outside bar."

"We all enjoyed our food: fish&chips, brussel sprouts were among the favorites. Service was was lacking. Were told to go ahead and sit at our table,menus would be brought but another hostess told us to wait.We waited 10 mins until 1st hostess asked us why we didn't sit down! Miscommunication between them,they were obviously not too happy with eachother. Drinks were very late,wrong drinks brought, salted rims when no salt was ordered - several items wrong. We ordered 2 bottles of champagne @$60.00 each. The pours were so uneven, last 2 glasses got very little and waitress reached over us to pour - a pet peeve when there is plenty of room. We were charged another service fee for the champagne! Should have complained at the time."

"Amazing views in a restaurant that is a throw back to the 60's and 70's Sausalito. Management and staff are professional and efficient. Casual and easy atmosphere. On my first two visits, the valet cost was expensive but now the restaurant is paying the first hour which makes it much more palatable. Food prices are high, but quantity and quality is good. Good cocktails."

"Absolutely amazing. I took my wife here for her birthday and am completely impressed. We arrived early and had a great time strolling around the strip. Our reservations were for 7 so at 6:30 we decided to go in for a drink at the bar. Amazingly our table was already waiting for us. Our seats were incredible, the table was situated so we both had a clear view of the SF skyline and the Bay Bridge. Truly a romantic view. "This was my first visit since it changed hands. Brought a foreign visitor for the "views" but unfortunately the fog interfered. Now THAT is not the restaurants fault. However, if I were the manager I would FIRE the girl at the front desk. She was unbelieveably rude, interrupting me during my first sentence saying "Your NAME?!" It was a short sentence! Let me get it out please. No smile, no hello, no nothing. The guy who walked us to our table was great. And our server was even better (Melvin). But that girl has to go. She also ignored us when we left."

"A small and modest menu. Quite the presentation for the half crab. Waitress was very considerate. Despite being packed on a sunny Good Friday the service was very timely. We liked the ambiance and view when this was Horizons. Service and food preparation are now both better. I got the feeling that the employees like working here. The crab cake sandwich was an entree with taste surprises out of the ordinary. My wife felt the accompaniments to her crab were well selected to go with each other. We plan to return soon, maybe while crab is still in season. The on the deck parking is a definite plus for those of us who don't ambulate well."

"The food is pretty bland. We ordered the oysters, which frankly were the worst we've had in a long time, and the cioppino. This is presented as a Portuguese dish. If that's so, the cook really needs to spend some time in coastal Portugal and learn how to prepare a decent stew. On the bright side, the service was good, and the bubbly was excellent. The singer not so much.All in all a deception for these old Horizons' customers."

"We have been going to the Horizons (now Trident) restaurant for years. It has always been one of our favorite spots to dine,...and gather with friends. The deck seating, with the incredible views, are the highlight. However, our visit there last Saturday was a disappointment. The food was lacking, and the noise level was intolerable. We finally left, so we could continue our conversation elsewhere. Having said all that, our table service was GREAT! It's definitely worth a try. Maybe it was just an "off" day."

"This place never fails to amaze, but not in a good way...
Today, when we arrived the hostess asked if we wanted to sit inside, or outside. We chose inside as the forecast was for rain showers. "That will be a problem" she told us, "as you didn't specify that at the time of booking, all inside tables are reserved." After a few minutes she grudgingly seated us in an area with five tables, all suitable for parties of four. In the 1.5 - 2 hours we spent there, no-one was ever seated at any of these tables.
This was a bad start to an otherwise pleasant meal with friends from New Zealand.
As other reviewers have commented, they really need to work on their front of house manner and organization."

"Enjoyed a lovely lunch with a old friend and the atmosphere of your restaurant suit that just fine. Was pleasantly surprised how good the fish tacos and salad were. Quite tasty. But as always as in most restaurants, there wasn't a generous amount of 'fish' inside and had there been, I would of given this 5 stars!!"

"Food was tasty but not abundant. I ordered the Niçoise salad that came with 3 pieces of tuna and only a sliver of anchovy! The man who showed us to our table was friendly but the girl working with him didn't even crack a smile or say hello. Plus the parking attendant was so rude, calling "Ma'am, give me your ticket" from his booth rather coming over a few feet away to get it from me as I stood in line, that I didn't even bother with a tip. They may not be connected to the restaurant but he sure did leave a bad impression."

"My favorite place on the planet is a table on the back deck at the Trident. I get a meal here each and everytime I am in Northern CA, even if I have to drive through wet weather all the way up from San Jose, which is what I did on this visit. The food never disappoints and the service is superb. I can't wait to go back again!"

"We were anxious to check out Trident because we had such fond memories of going there before it closed in 1980. Maybe our standards have changed but it was OK, not great. When the singer came on, the noise was over the top in order to hear ourselves. Her amp was way too loud."

"The service was a little disappointing this last time around. I was there with a group of 5 family members visiting the Bay Area for the first time who wanted to enjoy a nice meal and wine with a beautiful view of the city, however we felt rushed in and out. Our request to be seated outside was not accommodated and the waitresses kept on pushing us to order as fast as possible. We were not even thought half of our appetizers and the food was dumped on us. I was not a relaxing experience."

"Brunch in the Bay Area tends to be overambitious or bland; the Trident has hit just the right note with a great menu and location. The smoked salmon hash and the smoked salmon omelette were near perfection. Bloody Mary's quite good, but the 10 inch glass is difficult to drink from. The only offnote was the coffee which was quite bad. Service was attentive but not invasive and they had heaters on the deck, on low, to keep the temperature at a very comfortable level. We will be back---well worth the drive from Sebastopol."

"We chose this restaurant because we were curious about the changes, if any, after becoming the Trident again. Nothing looked any different than when it was Horizon, although we were told it was completely renovated. The service was the star of this outing for us. From the reception people to our excellent waiter, each person knew their stuff. The food was ok, but nothing to rave about. The prices were fair, except the valet parking was expensive. Should be 2 hours free, after all, you are spending money in the restaurant."

"The Trident has been lovingly renovated that takes advantage of the beautiful wood and murals/wall decorations of its l970's origins. (Got rid of the hanging ferns.)It has a spectacular view and location. We made reservations the previous day for lunch for 2 at 12:30. My guest and I arrived promptly - requested a table by the window. The restaurant was less than 1/3 full - many open tables. The hostess was rude about our wish to choose a table without full bright sun. We ordered soup starter and the entree crabcake sandwiches arrived much too fast - even our waiter mentioned that the sandwiches arrived too fast. Our waiter, however, was terrific and made up for the rudeness of the hostess and the kitchen problem. Food was very good."

"Trident has a wonderful history as being the hip spot of the '60s and '70s. They have kept the "psychedelic" ceiling art of that time, but the general decor is very tasteful and warm. "Nice setting for a casual meal; the only down side to this restaurant is that the food is very casual. This was our second time eating at the Trident, and I think this second trip was best. The waiter was exceptionally attentive and professional - something that is totally lacking from most of the other restaurants within the area. Capita in particular could use a lesson in service; sadly although Ms. Weir (Capita's owner) wanders around her restaurant being charming - she lacks the ability to observe her staff's attention to detail or work ethics."

"The hostess had not read the request on Open Table for a special table and led us to one with a very bad glare of sun off the water; we asked to change to what I had requested. She was young, not paying attention.
My Eggs Sausalito were very good; my companion's crab Louie was bad, too much of the dark green wilted ends of heads of Romaine, very little crab, he was disappointed because he had been there many times when Horizon served wonderful Louie salads.
The waiter was charming but interrupted our conversation twice to ask if everything was alright. I finally told him we'd let him know if we needed anything. He made some remark when we were ready to leave about it. Training!!"

"Our waiter was a delight once he finally showed up. But waited at our table with no service, no water, no acknowledgment for quite a while. The food is a great improvement over the old Horizons restaurant. Our biggest complaint was the bartender did not have a key ingredient for one of our cocktails and so made it without. It was not until our waiter had to go back and talk with the bar to find out in fact they knew they were out of the ingredient and just did not put it in. Not okay. However, our waiter did remedy by comping the drink. His service was wonderful."
