Housed in a mountaintop chalet with windows overlooking the city of Vancouver, the Observatory offers diner’s views that are as unique as the food prepared by executive chef Dino Gazzola.
Regional and seasonal West Coast dishes are freshly prepared daily in our mountain kitchen using Oceanwise and Green Table certified ingredients. The Observatory’s exquisite food, exceptional service and award-winning wine list turn every meal into a special occasion.
Feeling indulgent? Enjoy our five-course Chef’s Taster Menu which allows you to explore a range of wines carefully chosen by Sommelier Steven Conroy or choose a bottle from one of over 500 selections from the multi-award winning wine list.
Dinner is served seven nights a week from 5pm and complimentary Skyride admission is always included with every advance reservation.
"My partner and I had one for the memory bank dining at the Observatory and highly recommend it... Early reservations guarantee the best seat with the view."

"We had a very tasty dinner with delicious food, fine wines and a good service. And we got the best place in the restaurant. The panorama view from the "Observatory" to Vancouver is spectacular."

"To be honest we went for the view. You ride the Grouse Mountain tram to the top _ $39/person. but if you reserve ad each person orders at least an entree - the ride is free, We went on a Sunday night - totally foggy all the way up and all through dinner - no view. But the food was outstanding.- I had scallops and my wife smoked chicken after a parma ham appetizer. All very creative. They also served another little complementary appetizer and small chocolate cups after dinner. And the fog cleared for our ride down."

"The location is obviously spectacular, but the view is severely hampered if you're not at the window. And all the window tables are not equally scenic. It's a shame the designers didn't take this into account when building the place. Given that the reason for making the trip all the way up there is for the view, it's frustrating to not have one.
The dress code is listed as "smart casual" and while i'm the last person anyone should take fashion advise or criticism from, it is a little disappointing to be sitting next to people wearing a tshirt, gym shorts, and Nikes when you're trying to create a sense of occasion.
The food was excellent. The texture of the my chicken was superb - unlike anything I'd ever had. Service was adequate."

"We took my mom and sister to this restaurant on the day before they left Vancouver, it was the perfect way to end a trip. I don't know why everyone who visits Grouse Mountain doesn't dine at the restaurant because it costs $40 to make the journey up and all the entrees are $40 so it's basically like getting up the mountain and getting a free meal too!We knew the views were going to be spectacular but had read mixed reviews about the food so we were pleasantly surprised that it was absolutely amazing! The complimentary warm bread was a nice touch, along with a spoonful of ceviche and mini sorbet cones at the end of the meal. Service was fantastic and the view was beautiful. Only downside was a noisy group that distracted from the ambience."

"A special occasion spot. On our most recent visit, the weather and vistas didn't disappoint.
Unfortunately, our waiter was inexperienced; we sat for more than 20 minutes before greeted, offered water or other beverages. Friendly but not up to the task. One of our party requested the 5-course tasting/wine pairings menu, but was told it's only available if all at the table has it as well. We weren't as hungry, so the appealing tasting menu went ... untasted.
The food was delicious, the amuse bouches that arrived with warm bread and melt-in-your-mouth compound butter. Portions were smaller, as one would predict with 'fine dining', but satisfying.
The included skyride up & down the mountain added to the sense of occasion. We will be back."

"The scenic view of Vancouver on a sunny day made our dining experience so much better. The chef made the delicious meals plated like an artist. It made our guests feel so special to dine in such beatiful city. Thank you. (Food is a bit pricing but the godola was included; it turns out okay, it definitely for special occasion)"

"If you are after a special location I can absolutely recommend this restaurant. The menu is a little limited but the food is extremely good. And the view from Grouse Mountain over Vancouver and the Island is of course totally worth it. The staff are all very friendly and dedicated. And since the ticket for the skylift is included in your meal the price is absolutely appropriate. So all in all I can only just encourage you to go and have dinner at The Observatory."

"The food was great but after we were finished dinner, we waited for about 15 minutes for anyone to clear our plates, then another 10 for our bill. AND then another 15 before we decided to get up and find someone who would take our payment. Overall the food was amazing, the view was amazing. But the service was terrible."

"Amazing view, excellent food, perfect spot to spend a romantic special occasion. Very good price considering a passes up the mountain will normally cost two people almost $100. Well worth the cost."

"Top notch gourmet food that did not leave one with a slight feeling of hunger, but a feeling of satisfaction and great flavours. The value to price relationship was perfect."

"Food was very good and of the highest quality, however it was obvious the restaurant was getting back the "free" gondola ride (normally $40/ea)in the cost of the main course, all of which were $40 alone. Basically, what we paid for in our meal would have cost $70-$80 elsewhere, and the total price here was $150. Taken together, it was a good experience, but it shows there's no "free ride"."

"The food and service was excellent, but I didn't care for the screaming baby. I also was perplexed when I asked to be seated at one of the empty window view seats away from the crying baby I was denied."
