"We are always happy with this place. It is the only good place to get a good meal around penn station. I was upset to hear that it will be closed once again for the summer."

"The meal was satisfactory but not what I expected. A step behind every other steak house I have been to in New York. But you can't beat the convenience of eating there before a game. They have a private entrance to the garden directly from the restaurant."

"Came here for a business lunch and was very pleased with everything. Had the crab cake appetizer and the filet mignon, both were delicious. Great service too. I'll definitely be returning."

"Just no way this place compares to the great steak houses they claim to compete with. I can forgive the construction issues, but the food was just OK.
If your going to charge Morton/smith and Wolensky prices the food shoud be just as good. It is not even close"

"As New York steakhouses go Nick and Steff's has slipped a bit since it's re- opening. It's convenient location to Madison Square Garden and private entrance to the garden make it worthwhile although the food at best has become average and is a bit pricey. The variety of the menu has decreased and they no longer make their special Hand cut extra large french fries. I received very commercial french fries instead and was very disappointed. It's usually very busy after work And they have an excellent selection of top-quality wines and spirits. The food is good but there are many places equal. The service is generally very good but as noted it is not cheap, but then what steakhouse in New York. It will be closed for the summer I believe."

"The restaurant is convenient to the Garden. The bartender told us of a secret door that leads you directly into the Garden from the restaurant, but upon leaving, the hostess told us we had to go outside to a nearby door, that turned out to be a Garden employee entrance. Seems no one had a clue as to what was going on in this place. We were there early but as the restaurant filled up, the noise level was HIGH high. As for the food...The bread was harder than rocks. We were told it was probably old bread since they were not open the day before. Another common complaint from employees seemed to be the lack of business when the Garden was closed, due to construction. No turnover of food. Porterhouse meat was GRAY..sent back. Filet was good."

"Typical New York steak house. Great food and service! Pricey and loud. We ate there before the Fleet wood Mac concert so it was packed. Still we had a great experience. Their reservation system was the best."

"We went to Nick & Stef's as we usually do, looking for a really good meal prior to a game at the Garden. One of us got that, with a seafood mixed grill that was excellent."

"Up against the best steak houses in NY, Nick & Stef's falls a bit short. Up against the better steak houses in NY that have a back door opening directly into Madison Square Garden ... Oh wait, its the only one. And that's the point. A respectable choice and incredibly convenient if you can get a reservation on the night of a game or concert at MSG, but that's the extent of its appeal to me. Since MSG rarely has a quiet night, Nick & Stef's has a formula that works well."

"Kind of dark but probably partly due to scaffolding overhead; construction also made accesss more difficult. Appetizer portion, and drinks, are very small for the price. Prime rib entree though was one of the best I've had anywhere. Can't beat the convenience to Madison Square Garden seats. Service was very attentive but not intrusive or rushed"

"I was very surprised to find such a great steakhouse in a touristy (Penn Station) part of town. Amazing food and service. We had to catch an Amtrak train and we got appetizer and steak and made our train. A great find!"

"Great spot before a Garden event. They get you in and out in 1 hour which is key for those 7PM starts. Slow roasted prime rib was off the charts. I highly recommend!"

"This steakhouse does not compare to the food at Rock Center Cafe or the Sea Grill which I frequently go to or any other steak houses even though they are in the same price range. Upon entering it smelled like old beer. The menu was hard to read because it was a little too dark. I had a lobster tail which did not taste like one and the sauteed vegetables were tasteless as well. The staff was very informative and expedient. Even though this restaurant is convinient when going to a concert, I would not visit again until the food has improved."

"Difficult to find due to scaffolding. Not the best steak I've ever had, but a good spot to have a higher end dinner before an event at MSG. Service was great, didnt feel rushed at all. Vibrant, energetic atmosphere. Tables for 2 are very close together unfortunately - almost felt like I wad on a double date with the couple next to us. Loved access to the Garden straight from the restaurant!"

"Fantastic steaks, wedge salad, chopped salad, and side dishes!! We got there at 9:30, but never felt rushed. Service was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable! Kind of hard to find because of construction (supposed to be done by summer 2013) but worth finding it at Madison Square Garden! Nice quiet, low lit atmosphere - classy furnishings. We loved it!!"

"This is my second time at this restaurant. The first time i ate there last year I thought it was great. The other night the food was sub par. My oysters were very small and not very tasty. 6 of us ordered steak and it was so fatty. One ordered filet mignon and it was very dry.
We were all extremely disappointed and of course our bill was ridiculously expensive"

"The food was awesome. I had the chopped house salad which was amazing. My filet mignon was cooked to perfection and was delicious along with the red wine sauce. The sides were out of this world too. We ordered the asparagus and the mushrooms and there was plenty leftover to take home to my husband. My mother had the iceberg wedge with bleu cheese and bacon and said it was delicious. Her entree was the seafood grill which she said was fabulous. Our server, Norman, was great and extremely attentive and friendly! I would go back in heartbeat."

"I have gone here several time before hockey games. It always seems that the wait staff is not happy serving children. My children eat regular entrees, not chicken fingers and they still seem annoyed. It is an easy place to go before the game, otherwise I would think to go elsewhere."

"Food is typically well-prepared but also typically served with no thought to presentation what so ever. Somehow, a fillet mingon sitting alone on a white plate (not even a sprig of parsley)lessend the appeal!"

"The Caesar Salad was very average. Before ordering it, I asked the server if they had a 'good' Caesar Salad and she said 'what do you consider good'?....not what I wanted to hear. We also ordered the Szechuan beans which, I believe, were overcooked. The bread basket was uninspired and, in fact, the small bun I chose was a bit dry/stale? It's very convenient to MSG; however, I would not recommend it. I had one of the specials, which was a Nori wrapped, tempura seared tuna. It came to the table luke warm - now I know that you only sear the tuna so maybe it was meant to be that temperature; however, it didn't really say 'special' to me."

"Went in during Restaurant Week and were initially told that they were not serving the special menu. Eventually the menus appeared with no explanation. This is such a noisy restaurant that we could not have a conversation."
