APIARY is a sanctuary for sophisticated New York diners, a modernist's musing on high design and Chef Scott Bryan's straightforward, yet refined cookery. Chef Bryan applies his appreciation for accessible, local food, reinforcing Apiary as an East Village dining destination. Apiary's wine program offers great depth and value. Apiary features $35 3-course prix-fixe menu from Tuesday - Thursday & Sunday and on Monday, Apiary invites guests to enjoy their own wines without corkage fee.
"Went to Apiary for my wife's birthday with family (6 people). Everyone's food was really good - both appetizers and entrées. Not really much else to say...good food, good service, nice atmosphere (not too loud and not too stuffy). I am usually hard to please when it comes to these things - I was very pleased with my choice....and so was everyone else."

"Four of us dined here May 9, 2013. Three had duck breast and one had merluza. The duck breast was superb. It was perfectly seasoned and prepared. The merluza was ordered as part of a3course prize fixe and accompanied by wine selections from the sommelier. The fish was perfectly done and served over a bed of peas and puree. The wines were very well chosen to enhance the food. This was an excellent dining experience."

"I simply chose this restaurant because it had availability for a last minute reservation on Friday night and it "looked nice"... I'm glad I did. Great food, tasty drinks and chic décor.
Make sure you order the mushroom soup, it's amazing! The duck and chicken are great choices as well.
The staff is friendly... I would love to come back!"

"Came here on Monday for their no cork fee nights - ordered two appetizer salads. The greens, though simple, were delicious and refreshing. The other salad was a twist on the iceberg wedge salad. The sauce had diced up anchovy - was a bit heavy for my taste. I was very disappointed they didn't have the side of brussel sprouts when we went. Service was nice and the bread and olive oil at the beginning was really nice"

"Love Apiary. This was my third visit, and it was a great dining experience. The food was excellent. This restaurant has a lovely, modern design and chic ambience. Its a rare New York restaurant that provides you with very comfortable seating, with tables spaced so you can actually enjoy the conversation without competing with the next table to be heard."

"THe best sweetbreads ever! I have not had a meal there that was not excellent. My only complaint is that the restaurant gets VERY noisy when it is full. As a place where I take friends to "dine" rather than just eat, the noise interferes with the conversation. Needs carpeting or better sound proofing."

"Apiary, on first glance, appears to be a standard above-average restaurant. However, the food is exquisite, every dish surprises you with how good it is. the ravioli appetizer is complex. the merluza is lightly crisped on the outside but flaky tender and succulent. for dessert, the apple tart is the best i've ever had. (i just wont think about how much butter must be in there.) our server was incredibly nice and helpful. i love this place so much, its my second visit in a month. my only complaint is the noise level. its closer to saturday night bar than thursday night restaurant."

"I have found my new neighborhood gem..and so have all my friends..we were first attracted by the decor, beautifully appointed, and then we found out about Monday free corkage! We started to go on Monday's and have our wine night there instead of once a month at someone's home. It was so good and such a pleasant experience we now go "not on Monday's". I have now taken my colleagues from work and friends from the neighborhood. I don't mind sharing such a find..the service is always friendly, professional etc. And Wine Night..they could not be nicer..I don't know what more I can say except I will keep going and bringing my friends..its not often you can go to a restaurant and know that it will be good whenever the visit."

"Had dinner for four on a busy Saturday. Food was very well prepared and presented. We had the Duck and organic chicken. Service was great. Not a lot of entree choices. Would have been nice to have 2 or 3 entree specials. Reasonably priced as well for the quality that you are getting."

"Went on a monday "no corkage fee" night which enhances the experience since one can bring a wine that might not be affordable on a list. The food here is creative and solidly done. Fish dishes are excellent (I had bass). The duck and chicken are also excellent. My only complaint is that the menu does not change much if at all. Been the same for about 9 months and there are not a lot of specials (at least on mondays)"

"Apiary is a tremendous find. The food is ambitious and delicious. My friends had the salmon, which they said was superb; I had the rabbit ragu over pappardelle. The rabbit was generous and well-seasoned. For appetizers my friend had the octopus, which she loved, and we had the simple salad--the freshness of the greens was notable in a town with really good produce. I was impressed by the wine list; in particular, the wines by the glass included a Bergerac, a really nice French wine that's not so easy to find in New York. The space is unpretentious, but nice. Go!"

"Consistently delicious food. Almost a perfect experience. The lighting it a tad bright but that's my only complaint, and it's a pretty minor one. It's become a standby for taking out of town company to give them an amazing meal."

"This is one of our favorite restaurants in the city. The food is absolutely delicious and the service outstanding. We have been to Apiary several times and it never fails to amaze us. The duck was perfectly cooked and so delicious. We shared appetizers and loved the sweetbreads and grilled octopus and of course dessert was so yummy. We had the apple tart which was a soft flaky pastry, apple (a little too sweet) and ice cream. My husband's salmon was also perfectly cooked and delicious. Definitely a winning restaurant"

"Nice place, nice design, food all edible if not a particular stand out. Cocktails are Manhattan worthy, help seemed a bit rushed, but still polite even as we were 2nd to last to leave the restaurant.
Over all, thumbs up, if not quite yet a foodies-paradise in this competitive NYC market."

"Love this restaurant, but it needs serious sound-proofing. At times the noise level was positively painful. Vie eaten there on weekday evenings, avid even with the place half full, the noise is distressing. One goes there to dine and appreciate the food, and the noise makes that difficult."

"Very good food and service. I chose Apiary because of its proximity to the Classic Stage Company where I was seeing a show. Although it may not be a "destination" restaurant, it certainly is on my list if I am in its neighborhood."

"my husband and I had an awesome dinner here with two of our friends. everyone ordered different items on the menu and enjoyed each one immensely. the hamachi crudo and ravioli appetizers were so good, and the ny strip steak, salmon, roast chicken, and pork chops were outstanding. excellent service and a cool wine list with small production wineries as the focus. for sure coming back!"

"We had been excited about Apiary from many glowing reviews. The food was inventive and very unique. The scene was very nice and modern and was very suited for a good romantic mood.
What was not excusable was how the service was handled. Our server came to our table only the few required times, and didn't even check on us after we had our food, but I guess that happens so wasn't extremely bothered. What was atrocious was that not 5-10 minutes after the check came, the manager came over and asked us if we could leave because they had reservations waiting. That is complete bush league. Never in NYC have I been asked to leave, and felt it rude. After such rudeness, we will not be back."

"We arrived well before our reserved time, and were offered the option of dining at the bar in lieu of our table. This was a wise choice, as the ambiance and service at the bar compared favorably to the excellent dining experience we have enjoyed on previous visits. Apiary is a favorite go-to for a nice meal."

"We had the 5 course tasting menu and one of the more moderate wines from the wine list (Girard Artistry). Overall it was a great meal, portion size was good on the tasting menu, not too much or too little and the ambiance in the restaurant was perfect, a nice buzz but enough to still have a conversation across the table. As a visitor from out of town (UK) I would recommend this to others wanting to escape the tourist traps in Midtown."

"My favorite choice for Restaurant Week. An early reservation in a simple but sleek setting provides a setting for quiet conversation. The only complaint on the food is excessive salt. Enjoyed the best prep of blackberry financier, a current favorite with chefs. Apiary is definitely worth a return visit."

"The prix fixe menu was grudgingly skimpy and badly seasoned and the service was indifferent. I sampled this restaurant during restaurant week to see if it was worth adding to my short list of tried and true wonderful Village restaurants for special occasions -- it isn't."
