“Where you might least expects it, on Crown Hill, a hidden oasis of sensuous Moroccan ambiance and cuisine waits behind dusky peach walls. At Kasbah, the five-course D'yaffa feast is one of the city's best dining values. Your hands will be washed at the beginning, and then sprinkled with rosewater as the feast winds down.” Seattle PI
The scene
Low couches, embroidered leather cushions, layered carpets and jewel-toned hanging lamps: This dining room feels a long way from Seattle. Two spacious dining areas allow for a choice between luxuriant privacy or a prime seat during one of the belly dance shows.
"We have been to Kasbah a number of times and always have a wonderful meal in a lovely environment. We invited friends to join us who had never been previously. They loved the food, the decor and the ambience, as did we."

"we had been planned to visit Kasbah for ages and made it during Happy Hour on a Tuesday. We enjoyed the Happy Hour menu entrees (keftah tagine and fish shamoula, plus trio of salads) and ordered lamb bastilla as an appetizer. For dessert we split the kasbah Cake and ice cream; I don't think Kasbah Cake is particularly Moroccan but it was delicious with drizzled chocolate, caramelized apples, coconut rose water. Portions were generous even for "happy hour" but we ate it all! Everything was beautifully presented, served at the correct temperature, and well seasoned. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive but did not hover or rush us. Our one minor criticism was the texture of the keftah; a bit dry, but the flavor was excellent!"

"For me, a diehard cheapskate, it was a little pricey. But for everyone else, it is probably average. We had a party of 12, four-course dinner, for around $300. (People paid for their own drinks, though, so that was not included.) We had a wonderful time, belly-dancer and all. We celebrated my son's 50th birthday. A young man who was with us said he can't wait to bring his girlfriend there."

"This place was very nice. Expensive, but it was worth it. The waiter was very friendly and they had the entire restaurant sing Hday which was awesome. Nicely done will surely return."

"My husband took me to the Kasbah Moroccan Restaurant on Valentine's Day. We were met by the owner after a brief wait and seated in a cozy booth area with 2 tables. The middle area of the restaurant came alive when the belly dancer came out after we began our appetizer. It was a five course meal of exotic tastes and smells and even though we had become vegetarians over a year ago, the lamb beckoned us to try it. We weren't disappointed as I believe it was the best lamb I have ever had. I was raised around the food (my Dad being a restaurant owner for 24 years). The service was prompt, friendly and informative. It was my 1st experience but not my last! I shall return to the little oasis in Ballard for more tastes of North Africa!"

"The meal here made for a memorable evening with the different food, spices, belly dancing show, and Moroccan ambiance. I wouldn't do it again for Valentine's Day Dinner, but it is worth trying at least once. Most of the food was good, outside of the soup which was bland and may have come from a can, but it did not ruin the 5 course meal. I felt the meal was reasonably priced and you definitely get filled up beyond capacity. I have a huge appetite. I also felt the wine quality was better than average in selection and taste. I would recommend trying it out."
