"Maybe we ordered the wrong thing, but the food was very average - definitely not worth the price of the meal. The restaurant itself was very nice and in the Power and Light District, so the are is great, but we were very disappointed with the food. I got the salmon with bourbon glaze. The glaze tasted like straight up maple syrup - no bourbon flavor at all, which is what I was looking forward to since the restaurant is owned by Makers Mark. The salmon was overcooked and dry, so it needed a sauce and the sauce was so sweet I couldn't eat it. Veggies also overcooked and limp. The mashed potatoes were okay, but beat within an inch of their life, so a little gummy. The wine - they didn't pour you much what you paid by the glass."

"This resturant was very noisy. The server only did the minimum and the Steaks were tough. My Girlfriend and I both ordered a Medium rare steak, my ended up Medium and her was rare ... We had to almost flag down our server to get sweetener for our Teas or for much of anything else."

"My daughter and I ate here before the Carrie Underwood concert. The food was delicious. We only ordered appetizers, so not sure but felt like we were not treated like a table with bigger ticket items. Our bill exceeded $70 however!! I believe our waiter was Jose?? When he walked by would have to flag him down because he never stopped to see what we needed. I tipped him accordingly."

"Made a reservation before a concert at the Sprint Center. Our waiter (Jose') was fabulous. Drinks were perfect! We opted for soup of the day instead of salad and the Tomato Basil Bisque was unlike any we have had....could have made a whole dinner out of it. We both ordered the small filet and it was cooked to perfection. We will for sure make this a must before activities at the Sprint Center."

"Went on a Friday night, Power and Light wasn't packed, but still there were people at the bars later in the evening. Had a 7 pm reservation at Maker's Mark, place was kinda dead, maybe three or four other tables full at that time. A few more groups trickled in later in the evening, but overall disappointed in the ambiance. Food was good, not quite great. Steak was tender, shrimp was over cooked. French Fries were actually really good. Most outstanding part of the trip was our server. I don't remember his name but he did an amazing job. If you're a bourbon lover they have a great bourbon list. We'll probably go back at some point, but it isn't at the top of our list."

"The service was excellent. We both had the 6 oz filet and they were cooked exactly how we requested and melted in our mouths. The location is excellent if you are planning on an evening in the Pwer n Light District or attending an event at the Sprint Center."

"We had a very nice evening at Maker's Mark on Sat. evening. We live in South Overland Park and very rarely venture to the P&L district on a weekend, however we took advantage of the valet parking and then waited in the bar for our friends, although our table was ready and waiting. There was an energetic vibe but it was not too crowded to enjoy a couple of drinks, and the bar service was excellent. There were several large parties however we had a quit table for 4 and were able to enjoy our conversation and a fabulous dinner. I would highly recommend the grilled romaine salad as well as the calamari! We all had steaks that were prepared as ordered. I would recommend and return again!"

"We went at not the best time, during Top 12 tournament, KU, K State game. While the service was excellent, food great it was noisy and crowded. Will go back, but not during such a hectic time. Also while my steak was great I asked for rare and got med rare, I am sure it was that the kitchen was slammed as the above mentioned game had just finished and there was a crush of patrons that surged in the doors."

"We met for a impromptu business meeting…the staff was wonderful and accomodating. Our waiter was patient and did an awesome job of tolerating our order delay due to in-depth discussions. We met there during the Big Twelve Tourney on a Thursday when all was in full swing….Makers didn't miss a beat! The only reason I did not give 5 stars…I reserve the big "5" for romantic encounters!"

"Was a bit more pricey than I remember last time I was there last summer. Waiter served me incorrect drink twice but accidents happen. He was very apologetick and seemed sincerely embarrased. Overall my wife and I love MM and plan to return when are back in town."

"Don't know what happened but it took 45 minutes to get food while others around us were 1/2 that or less. Reservation worked great, food pretty good and a cool atmosphere. Just made us miss a little of the conncert we were going to."

"The food, music and service was great! The only disappoinent was how close the tables were. We felt like we were in the conversation with the table to our right and our left."

"Even with a "private" room for our group - the noise level was deafening. The steaks were good - rather limited selection of salads / sides. The killer was the DJ that started in the main dining area about 9pm playing very loud music so conversation was no longer possible. Not very many people in the bar, no one dancing - I don't get the need to have a DJ. Priced to high for most of the younger folks.... too loud for professionals... they can't seem to decide who their customer is - I can tell you it is not me."

"Planned our evening at Maker's Mark for a Valentine's celebration and we were very excited since we hadn't been there before and then quickly became very disappointed. Although the food was very good and the service was fantastic, our seating was horrible (we even had made reservations). The tables were so close together that you could just reach out to your side and touch the next restaurant patron. Additionally, the restaurant was very loud and had more of a bar-like atmosphere. Would not have expected the environment to be that loud for an upscale restaurant with equally upscale prices. Wouldn't recommend for a romantic evening and good conversation."

"We arrived for an early dinner at about 5:00 p.m. The actual dinner crowd starting coming in at about 6:00 p.m. We were seated quickly and our server was very prompt. The food was amazing. I had a ribeye and the other party I was with had the filet. Both were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The experience as a whole was top notch. We will definately be back soon."

"Restaurant Week menu sub par...Prime Rib could "only" be cooked to a questionable Med-Rare (more like Med-Well++.) Bread pudding below average. Brownie much better option. Waffle and fried chicken..very average piece of chicken fried chicken.. flat bread more like greasy cheese pizza."

"Using Restaurant Week lunch coupon made this an especially nice deal. Our server, Michael, was wonderfully friendly and we never felt rushed at all, despite being the end of lunch hour. The Hot Brown Sandwich was every bit as good as the original at The Brown Derby in Louisville, KY."
