"This was our first visit to any CHOP restaurant and was extremely pleased. I ordered the 12 oz Rib Eye with Wasabi Infused Mashed Potato and I have to say I have NEVER experienced such a delightful meal and I am a fairly picky eater. Both the steak, asked for medium rare, and the potatoes were fresh and HOT. I can't recall any restaurant I have dined in where a steak was this hot. Absolutely excellent! My partner ordered the Lobster stuffed Haddock and found it very flavorful, maybe not has hot as mine was. Unfortunately our friend ordered the New York Steak and found it tasteless. We loved the overall ambience of the room. . The overall service was excellent. Watching the flow of the room, this place has it going on. Excellent!"

"Food and service was superb. Price was around the same a The Keg, but there is no comparison. Steaks & Fettuccine, salads and dessert were far superior at Chop. We will now travel across Winnipeg for those wonderful dinners."

"My 4th visit to the restaurant - thought I would save it for special occasions. The last time I was there, the service was lacking but felt the place needed another opportunity. This time around it took too long to even take our orders and it didn't get any better. When we finished eating, our dirty plates sat on the table for at least 30 minutes. Coffee was not offered. Food was OK, but doesn't make up for the total lack of service. The waiter was knowledgeable and polite, but obviously had too many tables to wait. Very disappointing,. Don't think I'll go back."

"Went for an anniversary and Chop always meets our expectations. Had the Tuna Pillar appetizer and it was tasty with the aeoli and citrus relish accompaniments. The Caesar salads were generously portioned and full of flavour. I had a rib steak and my wife had prime rib. Both were cooked exactly as we requested and the timing of the courses was perfect. I didn't have a starch but opted for more veggies. The grilled red peppers were good and green beans had a perfect amount of crunch. My wife enjoyed her infused mashed potatoes and the mushroom side was enough to share.
Definitely our steak house of choice!"

"This was our first visit to Chop. The sour dough bread was warm and tasty. Our steaks were served exactly as ordered and tasted delicious. The clam chowder the best ever. The dessert "trio" a great way to taste a sample of 3 of the favourites and plenty for two to share. The serving staff extremely attentive without being intrusive. A great evening."

"I was happy and satisfied with the food and service that was provided by the restaurant. The food was enjoyed by our whole table. The only opportunity that I see with this location is with the parking outside. While we were lucky to find a spot nearby the entrance, I only noticed 1 handicap stall. For a restaurant this size I believe there should be 3-4 minimum. I understand that the restaurant is geared toward a younger crowd but with the aging population I believe it is necessary to have couple more spots added. Other then that I would recommend this location to others."

"Went to CHOP for Mother's Day brunch. The steak sandwich (open face) was excellent. The french fries taste was also excellent but just be wary of the oil/grease level. You don't want to eat these often but once in a while is great. The two eggs with style (bacon with potatoes, toast and fruit) was done very well. The Chicken Ceasar Salad had a good flavour. My preference is the creamy style dressing and this restaurant, like most, serve their Ceasar Salad with the vinagarette style of dressing. We ordered two Mamosas which tasted delicious. This was our second visit and we definitel plan on going again. Total bill for three was about $72.62"

"We hadn't eaten here in quite a while so we thought we would give it another try despite the restaurant being out of our way (we live in the opposite side of the city). I have to say the steak was outstanding! I have recently been to 529 and we regularly go to the Keg. The steak at CHOP was better by far! Overall we were very pleased with the dining experience. My ten year old son had a burger and it was very good as well. My daughter and wife had the filet which was very good. And I had the ribeye (lemon BBQ) which I thoroughly enjoyed (you have to like well marbled meat to enjoy this steak).
Worth the drive. We will be back. Look forward to trying their patio this summer."

"Our experience was excellent. We had ordered the prime rib and it was so tuff that you could not chew it. We told our waiter and he took care of things promptly. He took the prime rib back and brought us fillets instead at no extra charge. The hostess came to the table and apologized for the tuff prime rib and gave us a gift certificate toward our next time there. We were very pleased with the professionalism of the hostess and the waiter. Would recommend Chop to all my friends."

"I was very happpy with the service. My big disapointment was the crab. We went specially as you are advertising crab. The crab was not apealing looking, cold and we had to ask for butter. The butter came pre-melted and started to congeal as we ate (NO CANDLE TO KEEP IT WARM). Also the look of the crab was as if it was frozen and small. My other issue was we had ordered prawns and was surprised to only get two for the price. I am a fan of your restaurant and will be back but was very disapointed in the crab. For less money we had a much better crab dinner at The Keg.
Great serviced saved our dinner."

I was just travelling here on business, back to Calgary Friday & seeing the dentist in the morning as a result. not sure I would go back to chop was disconcerting"

"Chop is an upscale Keg with a slightly hipper, smarter ambience. The Ahi Tuna Pillars and the Coconut Lime Mussels as appetizers were the best part of the meal. Both were excellent and if we'd stopped there this review would be a rave. The main course of Rib Eye and Wasabi Crusted Ahi were both disappointing. The steak was small for the price and overdone and the breading on the Ahi was so heavy as to overpower the fish.
What did this place provide that the Keg doesn't? A slightly better wine list and 10% higher prices.
The service was efficient if wooden and be prepared the place is busy, the bar is packed and the noise level is high."

"Great food as always but our service was very poor. Our waiter seemed like he was in a hurry to get our table turned over. One of the guests at our table said he was going to finish his vegetable and the waiter took his plate away, not hearing the guest, not paying attention. He didn't seem very attentive and he was very condescending. We have had much better service then that at Chop before."

"I found the food average, maybe slightly above, but the price I would expect more.
The cocktails were well below average. I have a margerita that had virtually no taste at all. My wife had a drink with a fancy name, I tasted it myself and.... gin and tonic, I suggest they call a spade a spade and not put it on their special drink list. The lounge looks a lot better than the dining area which is dark and crowded."

"I wasn't impressed with my first visit to Chop. Our server was great however the length of time to get our food when we had a 8pm reservation was too long and to top it off our meals were made wrong. I will probably not recommend this restaurant to anyone in the future."

"Our server aggressively tried to up-sell us on everything we suggested which definitely had a huge negative effect on the overall experience. Food was good but not sure it was at the caliber that they charged for it. I would want to go back again to test to see if we had a better server if the food and experience would be much better."

"Our server was excellent and very nice. My wife had ordered a fillett and it came with some sort of seasoning on it, i beleive pepper she does not eat pepper and was not happy. Our baked potatoes were still hard and not very tasty. My prime rib was decent but not as good as other restaurants. Overall i dont think we would go back"

"The food as usual was excellent however a few minor problems: My meal was to come with a baked potato it came and looked rather bare,I noticed no potato told the waitress and she said sorry and it came on a separate plate. I thought it was her job to make sure the plates had all the stuff on it? When we were done our meal and our desert was put on the table no suggestion if we wanted coffee we had to ask for it. Also napkins were taken away before the desert and you need them for desert?"

"Alittle to dark in the resturant for our liking...really had to strain to see the menu. The appitizer was wonderful, we had the trio with shrimp cocktail ( huge ), steak bites (very tender and wonderfully spiced ) and the beet salad ( my husband ate it all, so I guess he enjoyed it ). We both ordered the prime rib, which was large, but very chewy. The dessert was a trio as well of Choc. cake, Creme caramel and a rum cake. Nothing special."

"My wife and I dine at Chop often, as do a number of our friends and family. We love everything about it, except the quality of the steak. The steaks taste good (great seasoning) but the meat itself tastes cheap. It's never tender enough, and the cooks often overcook/undercook what's requested. I can't recall how many steaks have been returned, just from the servers saying it doesn't look like. That aside, we love everything else you make. You have the best appetizers, best sides, best drink menu. Everything else is perfect. We still choose Chop over other steakhouses because for everything else, Chop can't be beat. If the steaks were a bit better, it truly would be perfect. Service is normally exceptional as well."
