Sovana Bistro has been a staple in the Unionville community since opening in 1998 and has evolved into a highly regarded dining destination. The menu is made up of two sections - our well known "staples" and our always changing "taste of the season". The kitchen creates simple hand-made food, inspired from many areas of the world and seeks to source ingredients that are available in their appropriate season.
The service reflects a gracious approach to hospitality and genuine concern for each and every guest's experience.

"Table was waiting on a very busy night. Service was exemplary, drinks arrived quickly. The Cheese flight appitizer excellent, as were the salads. However the fish special of the night was overcooked and dry. Key lime tart for desert was right sized and a wonderful blend of sweet and tart. If the fish had not been overcooked this would have been 5 star but not the first time here that the entre' fell short."

"They keep the menu fresh and creative with regular seasonal adjustments and truly noteworthy specials. There is definitely a bistro feel to this place, but it also passes for romantic fine dining. Service is very good, great ambiance, delicious food. This particular visit was Mothers' Day brunch. Creative touch with Bloody Mary Flights and also very delicious and healthy (and reasonably priced) children's menu items. There are dozens of restaurants I love...this one is my favorite of all."

"After spending the afternoon at beautiful Longwood Garden, we had the good fortune to dine at Sovana Bistro for the first time. My husband's fish entree, a nightly special, was superb in its complexity of flavors and textures. My fava bean-English pea-feta cheese pizza was also delicious and also a delightfully different and creative combination of flavors and textures. We look forward to returning when we're in the area again."

"This restaurant is in a rural area of Chester County and, as such, is a fine spot compared to the options, but we wouldn't suggest that you make a special trip here as did we. The wine list is extensive and I must acknowledge the front of the house for offering us a more expensive bottle of wine for the less expensive one we ordered and was out of stock. On its own accord, the offer was made because the more expensive bottle was most similar to what we ordered. Our party of 4 each had appetizers and entrees and although we can all say there was nothing wrong with any of our servings, there was nothing memorable or noteworthy about any either. The noise level on a Saturday night is very loud and not conducive to conversation."

"Nice prepared food. Every meal has its own delicate taste for it to call french. The cook combined specific polar flafors like sweet and sour or spicy and flat or berry and cheesy for the meal to become complete. The service is good even in busy hours. A little bit noisy though at the bar area. It looks also the place is popular among locals. Overall will recommend to visit to my friends and family."

"This restaurant has always been a favorite but this time the experience was less than stellar because of the waiters attitude concerning the wine that we ordered. when he presented the wine for tasting, I acknowledged that the wine was very good but entirely too warm for Chardonnay. His offer to place it in an iced bucket was not going to solve the issue since we wanted to drink the wine immediately. He then only offered to put it in a champagne bucket, which didn't solve the problem either. It was clear that he was not happy with us and did nothing else to address the issue. We ended up drinking the warm wine and re-considering our opinion of Sovanna Bistro."

Our sandwiches were fresh and flavorful and the soup of the day--a carrot-fennel bisque--was delightful. Alcohol is not normally part of the meal on the rare occasions when we take time from work for a special lunch, but the descriptions of Sovana Bistro's special cocktails were too tempting to pass up--and did not disappoint!"

"for the first time, it felt like "rookie night" and the service was at best at Applebee's level. It took forever to clear plates and the various servers all seemed very green.
my white perch special was also less than wonderful. It had some sort of sludge paste that was next to it.
this is a fantastic restaurant that just seemed to have an off night. That would never keep me from going back as it's one of my favorite places in Chester County."

"We were happy with everything we ordered for dinner except for the fish dish.. it was a pan-seared Stripped Bass but the skin wasn't crispy as it should be for pan-seared Bass and the freshness factor in the overall taste of the fish left something to be desired. "We had a reliably innovative and delicious meal at Sovana. Food and service were excellent. However, we were seated at a cramped little table in a busy area of the restaurant so I rated our experience only 4 stars. We were not expecting a soothing, romantic atmosphere at one of our favorite bistros, but unfortunately bustling and noisy close to the front entrance best describes our meal. I will be more intentional and request a quieter location next time. And there will certainly be a next time."

"I've been a patron of Sovana for years, but this last experience topped all prior visits in both high quality, artful dishes and service. Often I'll see restaurants be good for a while, then slowly fade in quality and execution. Sovana is bucking the trend and going from excellent to outstanding."

"First time going to Sovana. I'm an ex-waiter, and go to most restaurants being highly critical. I gotta say coming up with complaints on Sovana Bistro would really be splitting hairs. Service was excellent, vibe was excellent, food was excellent. We were all beyond impressed."

"We were given a gift card for this place and told that it has the best food in the area. We live an hour away, but were in the area for a doctor's appointment, so decided the time was right to try the food. We were really disappointed. The fish tacos and the burger were recommended by our server so that was what we ordered. The tacos were not good. The fish was in little tiny nuggets, and I couldn't taste any fish at all. The sauces were bland. The burger was made from very lean meat and very dry. No salt or pepper on the table and it took forever to get refills on our iced tea. We were practically sitting on the laps of adjoining tables, as the seating was on one long bench, and the tables were not spaced well. $63 dollars left!"

"OK, you've got me, this is likely my favorite restaurant in the entire world. The food is simply without peer. The atmosphere is great, though can get loud at times. The service really is first rate, which is saying something, because years ago it was the low spot for the place. I recommend it to all of my friends and family. It is sure to please."
