Revolution’s sophisticated and vibrant atmosphere greets guests as they enter the commanding historic Baldwin Building. A dazzling tiled mosaic from Florence adorns the wall, while rich hues of garnet and chocolate brown leather, natural cork, and original restored wood flooring create an inviting social scene. Revolution’s menu features a selection replete with imaginative interpretations of contemporary global cuisine. "Took friends there after we had been there several times. Had a wonderful meal. We all had fish dishes. Two had the cedar roasted salmon which was outstanding. One had the snapper that was excellent and one didthe octopus salad as her entree. Again, very nice. The spring butter lettuce salad had nice portions of the lettuce and light dressing. Went there before a show and our server made sure our meal was properly paced."

"This was our third Easter brunch at Revolution and although all were very good this was the best yet. Menu had great and varied choices that fit all tastes. Service was friendly and very well paced. We never felt rushed but were allowed time to savor each course.Both my wife's and mine food was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Portions were ample but not too large. Great place!"

"I actually really liked this place aside from one thing - the server claimed the restaurant is known for their seafood, and the ceviche wasn't very good at all. The flavors were there but, the squid was so chewy and rubbery it was inedible.That being said - the rest of our food was fantastic. We went for Easter brunch and had stuffed french toast, Scottish salmon and a rock shrimp omelet. All very delicious. The atmosphere was extremely modern and trendy and the service was great.We will definitely go back, but this was a rough first experience due to the ceviche plate."

"Food is always delicious at Revolution, but servers have been below par last 2 times I've been there. This time, although I had made a reservation through Open Table, we were seated in a windowless basement room with no decor at all, and the server was surly. We were trying to make a show at DPAC and there was no consideration of that, he took a long time to take our orders and to bring our checks. I ordered a bottle of wine with another couple at the table and he didn't ask how to bill it so it was put on our check and we had to work it out after. For such a fancy and expensive restaurant, they should have better service. You have a lot of good choices in downtown Durham, go somewhere that appreciates your business."

"This place is a fantastic spot for those who love great food. I had the scallop appetizer and NY strip entree. Scallops were perfectly seared and paired with a hot thai sauce that perfectly married heat with flavor. The NY strip came out as perfectly medium rare as I have ever had one and the shiitake mushrooms on top were a perfect pairing. Next time I make a steak at home I will be buying shiitake mushrooms.
Ambiance is very nice even if the tables are packed a little close for my tastes. Wait staff was extremely nice and helpful - really impeccable service. And the valet literally ran to get our car when it was time to go. All in all a 5 star dining experience from entry to entree to exit."

"We had the 5 course tasting menu with a wine pairing. Everything was delicious, only the scallops were outstanding. The chef's specialty seems to be seafood. I would recommend the restaurant for foodies, however not the wine pairing. They don't appear to have a sommelier and it shows. The wine was decent, a few even quite good, but it was served too cold and not paired very well."

"I don't think Revolution lived up to the hype I'd heard. The bar is nice--very large--but the dining areas feel cramped. The decor is modern, but unappealing. The food was good but not spectacular. Avoid the chocolate lava cake! A nasty clump of marshmallow on top of a overcooked cake."

"The food is really good, the ambiance is very upbeat, particularly the bar. The valet parking is perfect, otherwise it would be hard to park here. i thought this was a "cuban" cuisine restaurant and it really wasnt. There were no cuban classic dishes or new adaptions of them. Obviously the chef changes the menu often, so i will try again. The main dishes were excellent, we had fish and they were very good. The Lamb Sausage appetizer is really exceptional. I would come back just for that. No matter what your tastes are, you will find something memorable in this enticing menu. It is also a very fun place for a dinner with friends or your spouse. It is open late, til 2am on saturday night, so this was ideal for us who went out around 9:oopm"

"Overall we had a nice meal - the food was very good - not amazing, and the ambiance was nice for what we were seeking: a fun night out as a couple. The main issue I had was they kept brining the wrong food to us and those next to us. The kicker was they served the couple next to us our meals, and then, when they realized their mistake, simply moved the plates from their table to ours. Granted, we were sitting next to them and could see that they hadn't touched them, but still. When you pay that much money you expect to be the only one with your plate. It just turned us off for the rest of the night. Not to mention, I'm guessing the public health department would have something to say about it."

"Food was amazing! We chose the Chef's tasting with five courses, which is all items not on the regular menu, AMAZING! The five courses were just enough food to satiate us but not too much that we were totally stuffed. Highly recommend getting the wine flight (wines chosen by the waiter, who was beyond knowledgeable) they were perfectly paired. It was a great way to enjoy your company without feeling rushed. Fabulous all around!"

"My husband and I have been to Revolution many times and really enjoyed it. We have brought many groups there. Last Saturday evening we had a less than wonderful experience. First of all when we checked in with our group of 8 the hostess proceeded to direct us to the basement. I have made it perfectly clear in the past that I did not care to dine in the basement. As a frequent, loyal client who has recommended Revolution to many in and out of town guests I felt insulted that my preference was not honored. We were offered a table in the back of the bar with bar stools. As we had a show to attend and it was a Saturday evening we kept the reservation. I really wanted to leave."

"The mussels are outstanding - we get mussels at a lot of durham places: pops, blu, fishmongers....revo was a level above. The wine sauce was soooo yum.
The two deserts we got were no where near the apps and entres. A little bit of a letdown to a otherwise great meal."

"I love Revolution. I don't drink, so can't comment directly on the cocktails or wine list (although my friends say the cocktails are worth the visit!). The food is well done, creative, and beautifully presented, and the service is great. I've ordered from the menu and always been satisfied.
I enjoy the Feed Me option - chef's choice of starter, entree, and dessert - especially when I feel adventurous or don't want to decide. You will surely have at least one thing that you wouldn't normally order, and you will probably really like it. I've always liked the starters and desserts that were chosen. On only one occasion the entree didn't turn me on, but it was still tasty, well presented, and I took home the leftovers for lunch the next day"

"Had long standing reservations, but given the choice of a high table with bar stools in the front window or near the drafty front door and greeter's stand, we (in our late 60s) opted for the highchairs. Lamb sausage appetizer consisted of two HUGE hunks of medicore something, my frisee/fennel salad had celery instead of the distinct flavor of fennel. Husband's risotto (winter squash, cauliflower, arugula) was cooked well but totally bland - no caramelization on the squash, no herbs, nor, it seems, any cauliflower. My duck was good, tender, flavorful, topped with raw matchstick apple slices. Service was excellent, too bad the meal was not."
