Tamarine is a contemporary Vietnamese restaurant that features the light but flavor-intensive culinary delicacies of Vietnam. The restaurant offers a menu based on small plates, promoting the Vietnamese tradition of the 'shared' meal in which food is shared and enjoyed with those close. Tamarine's small plate entrees are enjoyed with the pairing of a variety of aromatic, flavor infused rice, designed to be mixed and matched to create a truly unique flavor experience. Along with culinary delicacies of Vietnam, the restaurant showcases the works of emerging artists from Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries. Semi-annual exhibits will close with a cocktail event to auction the art. Proceeds will be donated to La Maison Chance, an orphanage in Saigon, Vietnam.

"There is always a delay in getting seated here, even with a reservation, and it is often overcrowded and noisy. If I weren't so addicted to their food I'd save the aggravation and go elsewhere, but OH! the food! It never disappoints."

"We thought the food was fabulous! The service was a little slow, but the waitstaff were very friendly and helpful. This was our first time here, previously we had always passed and noted that it looked very "private" and "exclusive" as it was curtained off from the outside, and we liked that. However, the curtains were gone and we were seated next to a floor to ceiling window that looked out onto a walkway and we didn't like this so much. We would definitely go back for the food, though, the Shaking Beef was excellent!"

"I've eaten at this restaurant at least 6 times and it's always great. The shrimp cupcakes are a signature dish, and very good. Try the calamari as well. The shaking beef is another signature dish, and a good one for first timers. I had the Kaffir lime snapper on this visit. It was good, but a bit spicy for my taste. You really can't go wrong; virtually every dish is delicious."

"This was my 4th or 5th visit to Tamarind. I have never been disappointed. I asked for a private table and got one (well as private as it can get!) and our waiter - Paul - was attentive but unobtrusive.

"I went here w/a small group for an early dinner on a Sunday night for a friend's bday. I had made reservations on opentable beforehand, so we were immediately seated on arrival. Service was excellent. We never once had to ask to have our water glasses filled. It was a bit empty when we first got there,the lighting was dim, so it was hard to read our menus. The music was nice, but maybe b/c it was a Sunday and we went early, it was almost library quiet, and a bit uncomfortable at first. Once our food came though, we felt a little better & the restaurant filled up quickly. We started w/ springs rolls & chckn wings. The entrees were perfect in quantity & taste. We had the clay pot cod, lemongrass fish & tamarine prawns.. all very yum!"

"My wife and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary by dining at Tamarine and it was an amazing experience. The hostess congratulated us on our special event and sat us at a private table where we enjoyed exceptional service from the staff. The somelier, Mickey, was knowledgeable, friendly, and above all approachable - he made suggestions that were appropriate for our taste, meal, and pocketbook. Our waiter, Luis, was engaging, enthusiastic, and attentive; more importantly, he had a keen sense for when we needed his assistance but didn't hover over our table. Suffice it to say that the meal was outstanding and the portions were generous - especially given the caliber of the restaurant."

"Good food. Only thing that made the dinner less than a top score is that the last two times I have dined here, I was facing the wall at a two person table which makes it very closed in with the tables so close together and the fairly high level of oise. My friend was taking me to dinner to celebrate my birthday so would have been nicer to sit at a free standing table even though there are only two dining. Thank you."

"There's a nice environment in the bar and I would have spent more time hanging out there if I could. Food was excellent - the shaking beef was some of the best I have had. Great wine selections too. Our only complaint was that our server was overwhelmed and we had a very looonnnng dinner as a result. The service was really lacking on this, our first visit to this restaurant. I will go back for the food and give it another shot."

"I've been to Tamarine many times. The food was as good as usual. I definitely recommend the Calamari and Shaking Beef.

Not sure what was going on, but the service was terrible. The waiter was overworked, and we felt neglected. After asking if we wanted tap/bottled water, the waiter forgot to bring it to us. We had to ask 2x, and finally got a bus-boy to bring us water towards the end of our meal. Due to the poor service, we skipped dessert.

Be careful where you sit. I ended up with my back facing the main aisle. The waitstaff and other passerbys must have clipped my chair 30x. I've had a more settled dining experience on an airline flight seated in front of 4 year old kicking the back of my chair."

"Service was fantastic.

Food was disappointing, although presentation of the food was excellent. The noodles with the prawns were soggy and therefore I could not eat them, the flavor was too strong. The Bok Choy under the lamb chops somehow did not taste good. Mushrooms with snap peas were excellent. Desserts were excellent, especially mine, the beignets. Coffee is good to try once, otherwise, not something that either I or my partner would try again.

We had a reservation for 8:15 PM but were not sitted until 8:30. It was OK but the bar was full of people, and not a great place for us to hang out."

"Very enjoyable early dinner w/personable & attentive service. The spiced chicken wings, garlic prawns, and tuna tartare were very tasty. Shrimp spring rolls were somewhat bland, however, and needed the dipping sauce. We thoroughly enjoyed the clay pot black cod, lemongrass sea bass w/noodle salad, and shaking beef dishes and would order them again if we didn't want to try something different next time. "I've always loved Tamarine but I must say I was left a bit disappointed on my most recent visit. The food was good, as always, but the prices are a bit high for what you get--especially because they recommend family style dining. There are some great alternatives out there to this high priced restaurant with similar quality food just without the same great ambiance. I still consider Tamarine a great lunch option, but don't think I will do dinner there again anytime soon."

"We enjoyed this restaurant so much we went back the next night. The scallops with glass noodles is a fabulous dish. The sea bass was good also. The spring rolls were a great choice for an appetizer and the mushroom lemongrass soup was complex and tasty. Highly recommended!"

"Outstanding, as usual! The scallops of the Scallops with Glass Noodles were amazingly good: well-prepared and luscious. As a cohesive dish, however, I prefer crab with glass noodles: the crab seems to permeate the dish and bring it together a bit better than do scallops. The fried bread is unequaled anywhere. The duck with rhubarb was the weakest of the dishes, but definitely not weak. We didn't have time for dessert, but we will next time. Thank you for a lovely birthday lunch!"

"Best service I've ever had there. Food was delicious, especially the mushroom soup (way more complex than it sounds). The shaking beef was in chunks that I thought were too large. Best thing we ate was the sardine starter – absolutely heavenly. It was lunch and business so we passed on the wine, though we did read through the wine list cover to cover. Gotta come back."

"We were celebrating on weekday night and were surprised to find that the place was completely packed. Our server was very good, attentive funny and not at all in our faces. The drinks were amazing, I had the lychee passion fruit martini and my husband had the mojito. The tamarine wings were a let down, but the main course with the clay pot cod, lamb chops and empress rice were very good. The chocolate pudding cake was outstanding and left me wanting for more. Will definitely return for drinks, dessert and the superb service."

"I would rate this 4-star were it not for the music playing. In the beginning it was loud and it was rap! This is a fine excellent asian fusion restaurant, so what's up? The other reason for downrating it from our previous visit (5-star) was they were no longer serving a great specialty cocktail, the hibiscus manhattan. They do change their menu, food and drink. So be it, I just missed it. The service was excellent even though every table was occupied. Our dinner included shrimp cups (good but not as good as the shrimp fritters on our last visit), fine onion prawns, fine hoisin lamb chops and sweet potato fries. Dessert was excellent banana beignets accompanied by vanilla black tea. Enjoy!"

"The food was wonderful but expensive; the wine list was extensive, and bar prices were high as well.

I would not be able to afford this place often -- on very special occasions only. Total cost of the evening for three (includes tip and only 1 cocktail per person) was $200. I think that prices it out of most folks average dining budget."

"This is my eigth time dining at Tamarine, and I was disappointed that they remove any reasonably-priced wines by the glass from the wine list. The cheapest Chardonnay was $15 per glass. We ordered it and expected it to be very good, and it was a little "skunky" and seemed old (not a 2007 as listed). The food was great, but seemed more expensive than the last time I ate there in June. I like wine with my dinner, so I probably won't be back. It felt like a rip-off. The wait-staff was very nice."

"The food was good (as usual). The air condition was on so we were freezing. We arrived at 8 PM and we didn't get our dinner till 9:10 PM!!! The service was slow and not very good.
The waiter forgot to bring our tea. I asked him to bring the ck quickly ( my friend wasn't feeling good)and totally ingnored it and we had to ask another waiter to bring the ck!!!"

"You can always be sure that you will have an excellent meal when dining at Tamarine. We have eaten there several times and never disappointed.
