"Food is always great, good sized portions for a trendy restaurant...food is decorative but they are concerned with quality and quantity...not just food as object art you find on occasion. First time for my wife, but I had been a couple of times while in the middle of a transfer to Edmonton. Staff were very accomodating in re-arranging seating with last minute decision. Highly recommended for an occasion [our 39th] or just a lively outing."

"The only thing we liked about this restaurant was the atmosphere and location.
My partner asked if the chicken breast could be prepared without the skin and the waiter replied, "Yes".
It arrived with skin - all the seasonings were on the skin so simply removing it also removed most of the seasoning.
We would have appreciated being told that the chef wouldn't do this, giving us a chance to order something else. Telling us that it would dry out the breast is puzzling since I prepare chicken breast all the time without skin and I retain the moistness just fine!
My food was very bland."

"Another great evening out. The service was very good again, our waiter timed the courses just right which made for a dinner that didn't feel rushed. I would recommend the Asparagus Wellington appetizer and the Beet salad for starters. We will definitely go back and next time will try the patio."

"Excellant service!! Our server was very friendly, had excellent suggestions regarding the menu. The food was delicious, we were going to have dinner but got carried away with wine & appetizers, so we got a bit too full to try one of the fabulous looking entrees. We will be heading back to Packrat Louie's in the future to give that area of the menu a go! Love the restaurant location, it's a great place to go down to White Ave. enjoy a great dining experience, weather it be our choice of apps. & wine or a full dinner, do a bit of visiting with friends or family then head to the shops & pubs!!! Can't wait for the patio to open!!"

"2nd time we visited Packrat Louie's. Our first experience was exquisite. Food was perfect, flavourful and memerable. At our 2nd time, we were hoping for a similar experience, especially with the food. I ordered the same thing, truffle meatballs for an appi, and the pork chop for the main. The meatballs this time were awful, which is so too bad, as the first time, they were great. They were hard, dry and burnt. I sent them back. My main was good, but the chop wasn't seasoned, so it couldn't stand on its own. This pailed in comparison to the first time I ate it, which was flavourfully balanced. My husband's dinner was good and out desserts to follow were yummy. Would we go back: absolutely."

"Great restaurant, awesome food and really good service. Definitely recommend the calamari, they have a really interesting twist on an appetizer staple. The only question I have is why a restaurant that has $30+ items on the menu also has brown paper table clothes. They use them to stamp the dessert menu on the table but its still a brown paper covering the table, I was hoping for crayons."

"Packrat Louie is great, with delicious steak, seafood, pork chops, etc. However, I'm a vegetarian.
I was pleased to see that they did offer a vegetarian plate, but it wasn't spectacular. It consisted of layers of what must have been thin-sliced zucchini topped with cheese, and a few steamed vegetables on the side. It wasn't terrible, but it didn't have much flavour, and the price was a bit steep considering how cheap vegetables are. I should have gone with a salad.
The others in my party thoroughly enjoyed their meat dishes, though. I think that ultimately, this is an excellent restaurant for anyone who wants a perfectly cooked steak or delicious meat-based dish, but not a top choice for vegetarians."

"we had a celebration dinner with our contractor who was in from Halifax. They loved the restaurant and ranted and raved how much they enjoyed the food... I had the shrimp and scallops dish, fantastic, others had the halibut and ribeye dishes.. They absolutely loved it... Great food helps make a night a great success! thank you"

"We have been to Packrat Louie a few times in the past, and it has always been quite good. This time, the experience was close to perfect in all respects. The meal itself would compare favourably to nicer restaurants in other large urban areas in North America. Hopefully the kitchen is consistent in serving food of this quality, and for Edmonton, decent value."

"Absolutely a fantastic evening. The service was some of the best that I have experienced in a long time. We never went with out water, or drinks and our meal was perfectly timed. We did not feel that we were looking for our food but we did not feel rushed either. The meal was delicious from appetizers to dessert and the portions and quality were well matched to the price. At the end of the meal we even got to walk up and personally thank the chefs for the lovely meal they had so caringly prepared. I will definitely be going back and will be recommending it to anyone who asks. Thank you again to everyone at Packrat Louies for an amazing evening!!"

"Packrat's never disappoints me and this go around was no different. I enjoy seeing the menu change throughout the year and trying the new features. My friend and I were so happy with everything. He loved the roasted red pepper soup, even though he's not a pepper fan, and we both really enjoyed the truffle meatballs which had the right amount of truffle and an excellent sauce. The mains were fantastic. He enjoyed the grilled pork chop and I had the tenderloin. Both were tender and moist and cooked exactly the way we requested. Our server was great and charming which adds so much to the night."
