Club A manages to encompass the characteristics of a traditional steak house and new world modernism that is evident in both the menu and décor. "Crab cake and different slices of beef were excellent, wine recommendation (by the owner) was great (very good and affordable), service was very friendly and listening particularly thanks to the welcome and diner follow-up of the owner.
Some suggestions for improvement:
1. the sauces were too sweet (perhaps more suitable to American taste - I'm French) but the meat was so good anyhow that sauces were useless!
2. the mashed patatoes were a bit too salty. But the Boss assured it will be taken care of!

"The food is always very good and the manager kind.
However, our last experience was disappointing. We didn't like:
- to wait an hour before getting the NY sirloin on the table ;
- The waiter telling us "you know, medium takes more time to cook"... no comment!

We will give it another try as the first two dinners were just great."

"Beautiful renovation of the former Bruno's and transformation into an A-1 steakhouse have turned this venue into a destination. A happy Monday night full house crowd seemed wowed by food, hospitality and service. The Petite filet mignon (a hefty 10 ounces) was as succulent a slab of beef as you are likely to have. The side dishes were all delicious. Our fish eater (bronzino) declared himself full satisfied, and the classic desserts —cheesecake, tiramisu, profiteroles -- were demolished in seconds."

"All of the reviews are correct. The food and service were wonderful. The owner stopped by the table to greet us and made us feel very welcome. The only constructive criticism we have is that there is no smaller size steak for someone with a smaller appetite like my wife. All in all, you cannot go wrong if you spend an evening at this restaurant."

"I've been here around 6 to 7 times. The food is pretty consistent and always good. Service is spectacular and the ambiance is memorable. I was surprised they had live music playing as well. You'd hear the singing better though if you stayed closer to the bar.
I've been here for dates, with friends, Valentine's day, and Mother's day. Once in a while, I'd spoil myself with eating good steak food.

"The wait time to be seated was long (20-30 minutes). To make the matter worse, the bartender seems to be more interested in chatting than serve the customers waiting to be seated. On top of that, once the table was ready, the bartender said repeatedly that she "prefers if I settle the bill first" in the bar. Completely unprofessional.
The food was on par as you would expect from a steakhouse. We had bacon & calamari, salmon and filet, spinach & mac/cheese and tiramisu and cream puffs. The waiter serving was good and courteous and funny.
All in all, decent experience but the poor service left a lackluster initial expression."

"I have lost track of how many times I have dined here but EVERY time just keeps getting better and better! From the same welcoming greeting by Bruno(who is always working the floor and sometimes has his granddaughter Vlora and grandson Luan doing a walk through with him), to the friendly waitstaff and the most DELICIOUS steaks you can get in NYC, Club A Steakhouse is hands down my FAVORITE steakhouse in NYC. And with their extensive wine list with BEAUTIFUL and OUT OF THIS WORLD decanters to go with the wine and the warm family run establishment feeling, you dont feel like your being rushed or kicked out of your table like Wolfgangs or Peter Lugars. Its all about the food and comfort and making you feel like your a part of the Club A Family"

"One of the best places to have dinner, especially at the bar. The entire staff, including the owner, makes you feel like you've known for years. You can't find places like this anymore. The food is outstanding, especially their seabass, truffle mac and cheese, mash potatoes, creamed spinach and boned-in rib eye.

"This is our third time eating at Club A and each time our experience was first class. As my son likes steak I took him here a couple of years ago as a father son night out. He loved it. Took the whole family this time and every dish was good. But, if you like steak.....obviously don't order the chicken.

"We initially planned to visit Club A Steakhouse to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday, but It became an even bigger celebration after he popped the question earlier that day in Central Park!
Anticipating how much we planned on eating, we skipped out on appetizers and dove right into the main course and sides. I had the filet mignon and my fiancé had the prime NY strip. We opted for the pan-fried mushrooms, the truffle mac and cheese, and the garlic fries as sides.
The meat was cooked perfectly, and the sides were very sizeable, and everything was very delicious. Only downside? Our waiter disappeared at some point through the evening. Would have loved to thank him!
Great for celebrations of life events and romantic evenings out!"

"Simply put, OUTSTANDING!! Best New York strip and filet I have eaten. I've eaten at many of the great steakhouses in the U.S. and this ranks amongst the best. Family owned place, cozy, but most of all the steaks were cooked to perfection!! The owner was sincere, he cares and the food and service represents it. I will return each time I visit New York!!"

"The decor is great! I was there for an evening with my significant other, the atmosphere was really nice.
The food is good, but it wasn't the best steak I've ever had.
We also tried:
carrot soup - delicious!
king salmon - okay, but I wouldn't recommend it, it was too dry for my taste
mashed potatoes - great! Really good and delicate
creamy spinach with truffle oil - great! Really good (taste differently than usual spinach) very delicate
tiramisu - I wouldn't recommend it, too creamy and too delicate taste
cream puffs - okay, but I wouldn't recommend it"

"The best steak I have ever eaten, hands down. We have been to Club A Steakhouse several times now and the food is consistently spectacular. The wine is not marked up the way it is at other fine restaurants and it is served in a really neat decanter. The owner remembers us and makes us feel like VIPs."

"I have been coming here for years. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the owner, Bruno, is the consummate host. The service was friendly and attentive, without making us feel rushed at all. "The wait staff was friendly helpful and went out of there way to make the evening terrific...we were there to celebrate my birthday. The staff brought us "on the house" an appetizer of lobster ravioli....it was tastey fresh and let me tell you, being from Maine, it was the best lobster ravioli I had ever tasted, I had a steak that was so well prepared,tender and cooked exactly to my specification. We ordered desert and out came a sampling of tarimasu perfiterol and our chosen desert on a plate that said "happy birthday". We observed that many of the tables around us enjoyed the same. The owner came to each table to greet and ask about the food, this was a unique experience,,,"

"After doing a bit of research before our trip to NYC this restaurant looked promising and despite our high expectations we were not let down, the food, in particular the steaks were out of this world and cooked to perfection, the whole experience was top class from the service, the food and the atmosphere, the personal touch was an added bonus. "They have a $25 corkage fee and did a fantastic job serving (decanting, pouring, etc) our wine. It was our first time to the restaurant and we were all very surprised how good everything was. The service was friendly and top shelf. We highly recommend it."

"I've been to a lot of steakhouses, both in NYC and San Francisco, and continue to be impressed highly with the quality of ambiance, food, and service here.
Let's start with ambiance: nice mood lighting, slight red tinge to the lighting makes everyone look healthy and attractive.
The tables are spread out so you have privacy and quiet (relatively speaking), which is a real plus in Manhattan.

Service? It is about as good as it gets. Totally not pretentious, just the opposite! Very helpful, friendly, willing to split any salad or dish, ready to bag it to take home. Just great service.
And the food? Delicious! We had Canadian Bacon, Caesar salad, Sirloin steak, German hash browns, sauted mushrooms, lobster ravioli, and Brussel Sprouts"

"My husband and I went here for an Anniversary celebration and we were very pleased. He had a filet mignon (not dry-aged), and I had a t-bone (dry-aged). I had a glass of house wine-Pinot Noir, which was excellent, then we were brought complimentary lobster ravioli appetizer which was excellent. We got a baked potato and an order of creamed spinach to share. The spinach was VERY garlicky, but creamy and delicius. The steaks were cooked perfectly as ordered. The waiters were very attentive without being fussy. The owner came around as well, checking that we were enjoying ourselves. We were brought a dessert sampler, and then a lovely piece of mousse pie with 'Happy Anniversary' written on the plate in chocolate. Excellent!"

"Absolutely lovely experience at the Club A steakhouse. We had a Groupon for two and I ordered the steak tartare appetizer, the filet mignon and cream puffs while my date ordered the Canadian bacon, hangar steak and tiramisu. There was a $25 special for a bottle of wine, which we of course got - I believe it was a malbec and it went wonderfully with our entrees. The view of the neighboring area was beautiful, the place was classy, and we had excellent food and excellent service. One of our favorites now!"

"I recently dined here for the first time and I must say I had an amazing experience. I am an avid steak eater and I have been to all the top steakhouses. I truly enjoyed the entire meal. The ribeye was phenomenal! I especially enjoyed the warm family atmosphere at club a. Bruno personally welcomed my friends and I and we even got to meet his grandkids. I highly recommend giving club a a try and judge for yourself."

"A friend visited recently and suggested this place, took his advice, great choice for what we wanted that night...filet, salad, soup and wine.
Our only regret was that we didn't quite leave enough room in our stomach's for desert, that will have to be next time.
