"Everything was good, but nothing was great. Salads were very good, but a bit small for the cost. Service was good, but waiter messed up the final bill, by a lot (manager was VERY good, who fixed it). Decent value, and tasty food, but don't go here if you don't like or eat pork or shellfish -- it consumes about half the menu."

"The last visit I made to Redwood was several years ago a week after they opened their doors. I was unimpressed then and remain underwhelmed after my last visit. Our salads were so so, pasta w a sauce I could have made better and a sirloin that after 3 different attempts they could still not make med rare. Our server was nice, but the service itself mediocre. It got a little better when he realized the kitchen kept messing up our sirloins. Overall, not a place I will put on my list to frequent again. Great location, needs a better restaurant and some quality control on the line."

"This is my second time @ Redwood. The 1st visit was divine-the chef pairings were delicious and was excited to go back. This visit was just ok as they have a new chef and most of the foods are cooked with pork. As a non pork eater this made it difficult tofind something good to eat.what I did get was good but the overall visit was disaapointing. I will have to go back after they change the menu for summer and give it another try.
I highly recommen the restaurant even though my last visit was no the best.
Mike the gm(I think) came over at my requast and was most accomodating and informative!"

"We couldn't make it downtown, and gave Redwood a try despite past hohum experiences. The winelist was varied and reasonably priced-not easy in MoGo County. The food had vastly improved and was one of the better meals we have had in MoGo County in 2013. I had a tuna tartare appetizer and then brazilian tigerfish over a bean ragout that was well prepared with lots of interesting tastes. The 3 course price fixe option was a great value. While Redwood is a beautiful restaurant, for us the ambience was off. Even though we had a reservation, we were placed in a makeshift dining area behind the hostess stand-- like being put at the "kid" table at Thanksgiving. Luckily the food made up for the atmosphere and we had a great waitress."

"I will start this review off by saying that my husband and I have been to Redwood several times before for drinks at the bar and it was a lovely experience. This past weekend, I made reservations for 5 for a small but what I hoped to be lovely baby shower. I noted in the Open Table comments section of the res. that we needed an outdoor table. We showed up 5 minutes early and were told that an outdoor table was not available. The hostess said they were "first come first serve" and that the other half of the patio was reserved for a private event. It became clear that everyone was focused on the private event. Our server, while nice, was very very slow. I am very disappointed and the even that I planned was not a priority for the restaurant."

"Initially the staff seemed confused in seating people then on waiting on tables. Two of us arrived 5 minutes prior to another table yet we were waited on after them. Once they engaged, the staff was friendly and attentive. Food was good but their are many restaurants in the area that are exceptional. Was there for Sunday brunch. "Redwood is consistently very good. You recommend having a reservation. The mussels are fantastic so whether you order them as an appetizer or main course, you can't go wrong. The steak frites is very good. They cook their salmon to medium but for me its got to be medium well. It's still moist but not rubbery like it is when cooked medium. I would like to see their menu expanded."

"We looked forward to trying out Redwood...but were disappointed overall. Nice service, love the refillable water bottles, but the toasted limp, stale hot dog bun accompanying the mussel appetizer was inedible (needs freshly toasted slice of crusty bread or roll for dipping in a good broth). The pre-carmelized lukewarm onions added to the under seasoned mussel both was the next disappointment. All of the proteins were first quality, from plump succulent mussels to perfectly prepared flounder and hangar steak. The sides were all poorly prepared (too much chicken/pork fat in the beans and spaetzle, and the farro with veggies looked and tasted like they came from a freezer bag. we will not be back."

"We had Easter brunch. I wish they had ordered the pastries from somewhere better (obviously not made onsite). The bagels and croissants were kind of disappointing. The hot food was great, though. I loved the biscuits and gravy, especially. My bloody Mary was a little heavy on the horseradish, but the mimosas, tea, and coffee were good. The granola and yogurt was delicious - the yogurt was some of the best I've had. The service was good and friendly. Desserts were very nice. I love the outdoor tables."

"We were seated next to the silverware drawer. Our waiter was good, but everything took a looooooong time. We were all talking, so were not ready in the beginning to order. He was patient. But once we had ordered, everything took a long time -- 20 minutes before salads arrived. Another 20 or 30 minutes before fish tacos arrived. I had looked forward to eating here, but will not do so again or recommend it."

"My husband and I went for a date night dinner.We eat predominantly organic foods at home and try to seek out restaurants with the same,which is rather difficult. The service was wonderful and the food delicious and portions appropriate. Nice ambiance. The restaurant was a little tricky to find as it is not visible from the street. A parking garage adjacent to it made parking easy as Bethesda has very little street parking."

"Redwood is great for its ambiance. Outdoor seating good for drinks and people watch. The food and service was awful. Eggs benedict runny and horrible hollandaise sauce. The waiter took our order and was not readily available, unseen, until time to pay. Redwood is not in business for its food, it is in a great location and is very appealing for that reason only."

"Redwood is the perfect spot for Sunday brunch. The have soothing jazz music while you dine on good food, incluing salmon, nice soups and eggs benedict. The deserts are also great, although a little rich. The food on the al carte kids menu is tasty, especially the mac&cheese, although I wish they would bundle the protein with sides, rather than pricing separately (which seems their way to drive you to buy the buffet instead). The price is right for adults, relative to other local brunch spots. Highly recommended."

"Very accommodating restaurant. Took special requests on the food in stride. I've been here for their brunch before and while the food was nothing to write home about, the ambiance and ready flowing mimosas kept me and my friend on their outside dining area for a couple hours just people watching."

"Redwood is located within the Bethesda Lane walking Mall of Bethesda Row. The restaurant is decorated in a contemporary style with redwood and metals, in a way that is warm and inviting. They offer a lengthy wine list with a solid variety by the glass as well as specialty martinis, which my wife enjoys. Their French Onion Soup and Roasted Beet and Arugula Salad were both great appetizers. The Grilled Hanger Steak and the Mole Braised Beef Short Ribs were terrific; both entrees included a generous portion of vegetables which I greatly appreciate. Our Waiter was terrific with a thorough knowledge of the neighborhood, as well as the menu and wines by the glass. Dinner came to $75 per person with 2 drinks/person and tip."

"I'd heard great things about this place, and thankfully it measured up in full! We had a delicious dinner for two based on a deal through Gilt.com, a four-course tasting menu with a bottle of wine. The menu selection was perfect (not optimal for vegetarians, but perhaps they have an alternative vegetarian tasting menu if you need one). Everything was exquisitely prepared. I expected a somewhat stuffy atmosphere, but it was a more energetic and welcoming one, which was great. I also saw that they made table preparations for a group of 10+ people, which seemed to go over well. Overall, a gem! Polite and attentive staff, delicious food. We'll definitely go again!"
