"When you are outside the restaurant, you would never guess what's behind those doors. Everything is excellent, from the service to the presentations and flavors. The combination of several textures and wide variety of ingredients in each course surpassed our expectations (which were high from the start) I would highly recommend the wine pairing, since they go really well with each meal and you get a good description of every one of them prior to tasting."

"I've been to Atelier now 3 times. It is easily the best restaurant in the city and certainly amongst the top in the country. Although molecular gastronomy won't appeal to everyone, if you're adventurous and up for a splurge, you'll be rewarded with some of the most interesting and tasty food possible."

"The best food experience we ever had. We took the wine pairing and i would recommend to everyone. Makes the food taste even better. You are served a 12 course meal. The portions are just the right size not to big but big a enough fo you to enjoy each meal. I was happy and sad of getting my last meal. Happy because i was full but sad because the experience was so great i wanted to continue."

"the building & the interior is simply decorated, even plain. there isn't even a sign outside, just a number on the door indicating you are at the correct address. this restaurant is all about the food & service. It features a 12 course set menu that is changed every month or so. each course progressing from light tasty soups and salads to more robust meats and game - all served in small portions but don't worry, you'll be full by the end of the evening. we opted for the wine pairing feature which allowed for 2 ounces of 10 different wines arriving with each respective dish. The pairings were perfectly matched, the food & service was 5 star. perfect for special occasions.

"This restaurant was a wonderful special-event place for those with some spare spending money. Good for small groups, it was a cozy dinner as entertainment. Our meal took about 4 hours, it was a blind tasting of 12 courses with a wine tasting. Nothing there could be had any other place, and everything was prepared with thought and excitement."

"Innovative cuisine with beautiful presentation and complex flavours. An experience that is truly one-of-a-kind in Ottawa. Staff were very friendly, kitchen extremely accommodating to this GF guest. Overheard other guests with dislikes and allergies also being kindly accommodated in interesting ways. For example, instead of the requisit bread, I was given endless quantities of truffled popcorn. Yum!"

"Atelier far exceeded my expectations. I can with all seriousness say it was the best meal I've ever had. I'm a "foodie" who cooks far more than most and makes sure that all travel destinations and vacations normally include one of the top restaurants from the areas I visit. I've been to 1 two star Michelin restaurant and a number of one star restaurants and Atelier will stand out as my favorite thus far.
The ambiance is different and if you want something elegant this probably isn't the place for you. If you want a magnificent meal that is well presented, fun and entertaining definitely give Atelier a go. Five stars.
I will definitely be back on my next visit to Ottawa."

"L'Atelier provides a wonderful, special-occasion experience for people who enjoy food as theater. For if there is one word to describe the evening, it is "entertaining." We were treated to a 12-course blind tasting and each dish took the action up another level. Some notable scenes were Crusty the crab and Duck pond. For me, as it was my birthday, the climax came with my birthday cake... a cake like I'd never had before. I won't give away the ending in case you go on your birthday, too :). The wines were beautifully paired. We took the list home and were able to source several bottles of our favorites for our own enjoyment. The food is local, nutritious, delicious, imaginatively presented... a medley of fine dining!"

"This restaurant is just perfect! Food, wine, service, everything is great. If you love food, you have to try this place. The dishes are pieces of art, so I think it's fair to say you are paying for dinner and a show. So instead of buying tickets to a show then having dinner in an ordinary restaurant, skip the show and go to Atelier, you won't regret it!"

"Best restaurant in Ottawa! L'Atelier offered us the best meal we have ever had! My friend is a regular customer, but it was my first time (definitely the first of many!!!). He said this meal was the best he had at the restaurant so far. Everything was delicious, well presented, well explained, and the wine pairing was the cherry on top. The sommelier was very friendly, and knew his wines. Our waitress, Karine I believe, was new, but did not hesitate to go back to the kitchen if we had further questions she could not answer. She was very attentive to our every need, and made our experience very pleasant! Although pricey, I find that we had a true culinary experience well worth every dollar spent. Good job to the chef and the serving staff!"

"This restaurant appears to be all about sensory experience. There is no signage depicting the name / logo of the restaurant. The decor is minimalistic. Staff are dressed in black. The food is the star - and it is a worthwhile experience; however, it is not for those who dislike ambiguity and BE SURE to ask for prices so you are not astonished by the bill at the end of the evening."

"I had recently went to Beckta and had both their 5 and 8 course tasting menus, so I wanted to compare directly with what Atelier had to offer. Hands down Atelier won when it came to the food. All of the different flavors really came together to form a fantastic taste. The servers were extremely attentive, and the atmosphere was exactly what I wanted, and expected.
I also recommend, if you truly want to be surprised by what comes out of the kitchen, book for an earlier time, so you're the first customer to get everything out of the kitchen.
Ateliers Pastry Chef even made non-alcoholic drinks specifically for a few of us in the restaurant, so if you're not a wine person, I recommend getting them to whip you something up.

"The dishes were consistently interesting (or downright surprising!) and tasteful. Anyone who hasn't tried sous-vide dishes will be in for a real eye-opening experience. Service was prompt, professional and friendly. We'll return, and have already recommended to friends."

"This was our second visit to L'Atelier, and we enjoyed it as much as the first time. To be clear, this is a foodie adventure - you go to L'Atelier to be blown out of your mind food-wise, and chef Marc Lépine definitely delivers. What a great experience - I cannot wait to go back."

"Wonderful experience. Wine pairings were top-notch for the most part (one slightly off balance with choice of food). A very imaginative menu that really allowed you to experience the different tastes/smells involved. The service was exceptional as waste the sommelier. Not exactly a criticism, but it would have been nice to have some more information to take home after the meal. Although the servers knew their dishes cold, after thirteen services, not to mention the wine, it was nearly impossible to keep track of everything going on per service. Pricey, but highly, highly recommended for anyone who wants to push the culinary boundaries. We can hardly wait to go back again!"

"Truly the best restaurant in Canada. It's unique, interesting, and a wild sensation of textures and favors. Whether you're a foodie or just intrigued by molecular gastro, you definitely need to give it a chance for the three hour experience.
