"We brought our 3-year-old and 2-year-old for an early dinner. The wait staff was fantastic with our girls--bringing covered cups, catering to them first, and offering half-portions for their smaller tummies. Our waitress was also wonderful. She really knew her stuff and was so prompt with all of our orders. While not a "kid-friendly" place, I would definitely recommend for well-behaved kids who like to eat. Everyone was wonderful and we had a great night celebrating our special occasion."

"Perfect for date night, my boyfriend and I ensured our place at the restaurant by using opentable to make reservations. We arrived early and were able to be seated a few minutes before our reservation. The service was great. I ordered the swordfish and my boyfriend ordered the lambchops and they were both amazing. The greek salad we ordered beforehand was amazing too! Great wine list, and the restaurant is nicely decorated and very ambient!
Highly recommended!"

"Two friends & I met for lunch at Evvia, right at opening time (11:30). We chose our table, got a friendly welcome & beginning service...and then other folks came for lunch. Our table was surrounded by loud-talking men's groups (from 2 to 8) who outdid themselves in VERY energetic conversation & laughter. Food arrived & we ate quickly (it was all delicious!) but did not linger because we couldn't hear each other. I'm not sure there is a quiet table area in the place...so don't know if we will return, at least at lunch. Maybe things are quieter at dinner or late-night??"

"Evvia is the ideal spot to get your Greek food fix. You can easily make a meal of the small plates, but don't forget about the delectable rotisserie of the day (usually lamb) or the fish of the day. You might even consider skipping lunch, to make sure you have room for dessert after dinner."

Had the roasted lamb which was one lamp chop sliced up to look like you were getting a lot more of a "roasted" lamb carving they were touting as the special of the evening. Potatoes accompanying the lamb were much too on the lemon tart side. We had a good appetizer each followed by 2 portions of dry, fatty, roasted pigling drenched in lemon juice to the point at which all one can taste was the fat and the lemon, followed by a tasty desert. Two beers and the cheapest bottle of new world red wine on the menu ($48....) brought the total to $193. Include tip, and dinner for 2 was $230...
If the main course would have been REALLY memorable, maybe...The way it was, though? Ridiculous. Just another example of what the human herd spirit: this was, until a couple of years ago, an excellent restaurant. Now? Just another place where it's fashionable to be seen (since it's hard to get in, it must be good, right?)"

"This was my first time at this restaurant and only my 2nd experience with Greek food. I LOVED IT! The food was amazing. I created my own combo plate pairing up the moussaka and the lamb riblets (riblets on the appetizer menu). My mom had the lamb chops. We started off with a combination of dips and pita bread. And finished w/custard wrapped in philo. It was all delicious! It was very busy throughout the restaurant and bar. Our waiter was pretty busy but that did not effect his attentiveness with each of his tables. Great food, great service, exciting yet cozy atmosphere, and I can't wait to go back. Yum!"

"This is a perfectly good restaurant. The food is well prepared. The service is straightforward. What it's missing is a certain energy level and spirit. It seems more like a cash cow business enterprise than a place to get a special meal. Wealthy Silicon Valley types go in, drop a couple hundred bucks, and walk out. The San Francisco cousin of this restaurant serves almost exactly the same food, but there is a sense of service there and joy there that just makes Evvia seem dull in comparison. It's also a prettier restaurant and setting. Plus when you're done with your meal you can take a walk along the bay. I'd go up to San Francisco next time I wanted high end Greek food."

"My friend and I went for Mezethes only as it was already quite late. There was plenty to choose from and we were very happy with our choices, especially the Crispy Zucchini Cakes, which were divine. Very good olive was served. Although the sourdough that was served was excellent, something Greek would have been nicer. We had each a glass of white wine from Santorini, which was a very good recommendation from our waiter. Altogether, a really enjoyable dinner and we will be back for a full meal as soon as possible."

"We were first seated in the middle of the dining room, and before the waiteress even arrived, we realized the noise level was going to be way beyond "our less than perfect hearing level." One of our party requested that we be moved to a smaller table in a less active part of the restaurant, and we were quickly swished to a much quieter spot and from then on, everything and everyone was perfect: the service, the food, the ambience. "Consistently good food at reasonable prices. Grilled fish is always succulent and tasty and the lamb shank is a perennial favorite. Taramosalata with warm pita is a great way to start with the grilled octopus, which is delicious. One of the better restaurants in the valley."

"My son (10) and I enjoyed a wonderful meal at Evvia last Saturday night. The atmosphere makes you feel as though you are in a restaurant in Greece. Our server was attentive, helpful, and even took time to teach us a few phrases of Greek, when we asked for them. The mussel appetizer was "nostimo!" as was the lamb shank and lamp chops. Although stuffed, we split a dessert of what had to be the best homemade cherry ice cream and a warm chocolate cake. I would recommend this restaurant for a jovial special occasion or a fabulous date night."

"My husband and I love coming here for special occasions (anniversaries, birthdays, and when his mom is in town). We love the saghanaki (fried cheese...OMG...so good!), the arnisia padakia (lamb chops), and the chocoalate lava cake/sokalatina. Nowhere else compares to their chocolate lava cake! However, we discovered the filo dough filled with vanilla creme dessert (their most popular dessert) and have a new favorite. You won't go wrong here! The food, service, ambiance is the best!"

"I've been to Evvia twice now and each time it was a totally great experience. The food is excellent. I have also been pleased with the wine list. Great wine by the glass to complement the food. The service is very good. It is always crowded and I see why. I am looking forward to coming back."

"I'm not from the area, but was looking to treat my team at work to a special dinner. I found Evvia online and from the reviews I read, this place sounded ideal. Turns out the food and the service were impeccable. Everyone at the table devoured their food. The arugula pesto ravioli, with wild mushrooms and spring vegetables, was hands-down the best ravioli I’ve tasted. And the service *almost* overshadowed the food. We couldn’t have been better taken care of. 5 stars all the way!!"

"I made our reservation through Open Table. I made our reservation about a week+ in advance. The day before, the restaurant called to confirm our reservation, which I did. I specifically asked for a table where it was "warm" due to cool weather. When we arrived, we were offered 3 tables, all three of which would have been suitable for someone who hadn't made a reservation. Two of the tables were right in the "wind path" of the opening entrance door. The third table was almost in the kitchen with bustling waiters going past the table. We sat at the table in the "waiter path". We noticed a table that was opening up, and asked to be reseated, we were. After that, all was ok."

"This sister restaurant to Kokkari's in SF offers nearly identical menu, service, ambience and quality, namely first rate. As we've done in the past we made a dinner out of several items from the appetizer menu. This way we get to sample a wide-range of the menu selections. None of them disappointed and the wait staff was attentive without hovering. We actually got our food rather quickly this way. the desserts, baklava, chocolate cake and apple cake were all delicious."
