"Sunday hamburger and milk shake night! Yum! $20 corkage too high, but is now average for the area. But when you offer a taste to the sommelier, and he accepts, don't they usually waive or reduce the corkage fee? Not tonight at Grace!"

"Yummy affordable 5 course Winter tasting menu is a must for first timers. Filled with shrimp salad, scallops, dover and lamb plus dessert. Regular main courses are larger than normal quantity for this type of cuisine...more to savor. The service was exquisite, I never had to ask to refill our water once. Warm bread kept coming too."

"When we finally got to our table we were sat in a back area that was quiet and private. The bartender was great but beyond that the service was poor. We had to wait over half an hour to be sat despite having a reservation (while other parties were immediately taken to a table) and that was only after reminding them we were still waiting. When we got to our table there were at least 10 open tables in that back area - there was no reason to keep us waiting unless they just forgot. We ordered the tasting menu and were left waiting again - the first course - a small salad - took 20 minutes to arrive. Each course was slow in arriving - we had to flag down someone to get course #3. For $250 I would expect the food to come to me without asking."

"GRACE has been one of L.A.'s best restaurants since it opened seven years ago, and Chef/Owner Neal Fraser's food is absolutely amazing. "Overall Grace was exactly what I wanted for my business dinner. Fairly quiet and we were given a table that had some space around it so we could converse quietly. The food was very good. I had the sardine starter which were served over broiled tomato slices. Very tasty! My main course was the scallops which consisted of 5 large scallops done perfectly on a risotto. The risotto was more like a vegetable puree with a bit of rice here and there. So it did not add much to the meal.

The wine list was huge but leaned towards the very expensive. I chose the 2005 Pinot Noir “Solomon Hills Vineyard” Jules Harrison. Nice wine and at $60 is exactly twice suggested retail.

We shared the doughtnuts for dessert which were fantastic."

"My husband surprised me for valentines day, and I was very pleased. Wonderful experience altogether. "Although the restaurant was pretty enough, the rest of the experience was at best mediocre. The pre fixe menu was neither exciting or even very tasty. It felt very much like a business transaction with little feeling that the meal I ate was prepared by anything other than a machine designed to get me out as soon as possible. Definitely will not be going back, ever."

"Grace is a polished experience, but somewhere along the way all the hype drowned out the actual excitement. On the positive side, the service was top notch, the food when at it's best was sublime and even the less favorite dishes were certainly delicious, the decor was rather casual but nicely done. On the negative side, for 2 bills a meal should be truly memorable and this just never reached that level for me. The food was fresh and delicious but none of the plates were exactly inventive or distinct. I've had equally good versions in many other restaurants. The dessert was phenomenal though. It's certainly a wonderful restaurant, but within the past week I had dinner at three other places that were more memorable for less."

"The refined and understated decor has nothing to distract you from enjoying good food with good company. It's hard to put into words how exceptional we found the service to be, but I'll say that the little things all add up. The hostess and our server were both friendly and professional, not pretentious at all. The waitstaff were very considerate but not intrusive. My friends told me that the waitstaff had replaced my napkin with a new one when I dropped it while getting up. We all loved our appetizers and the desserts! My entree smelled amazing but it was not that flavorful. Overall I had a great experience, so I would return to try another entree."

"Grace is a great little neighborhood spot. The decor is very simple with dark accents throughout. The food and service were both outstanding. You MUST try the doughnuts for dessert. They were like biting into a little piece of heaven. The branzino was very simple but delightful just like the restaurant. Grace had a lot of grace and elegance from beginning to end.

"We visited Grace during the LA restaurant week. I had butter lettuce salad for appetizer, Jumbo scallops for entree and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The Salad dressing was a bit too heavy for me and the scallops were a little salty, but overall, it was creative and very nice. (It's just a matter of personal preference, but I like the dressing butter lettuce salad at "CUT" better). My husband had fish for entree, which was a bit smaller than a regular appetizer, but what can we say. It's a special LA restaurant week. The restaurant has a great ambience and nice interior. It was crowded and it was hard to catch the wait stuff. We would like to try one more time on a regular weekend night."

"It was a great experience for all. We enjoyed a pre-dinner drink in the bar. The ambiance was great. I am rarely IMPRESSED with meals when dining out, since I prepare gourmet meals at home quite often. However, each of the three courses was more exquisite than the next. The food achieved the rare balance of being fresh and light while offering bold and complex flavor. The wine pairings were thoughtful and well-selected. The service was attentive considering it was a full-house at 9:00 PM. I will definitely chose GRACE as one of my selections to treat out of town guests and business associates. One of the best qualities of GRACE is the "feel" and "taste" of fine dining without snobbery. I recommend this to all who enjoy great food!"

"Had a lovely dinner. The service was excellent and I appreciate that it lives up the the name - GRACE. It is simple elegance at this place, although I would have liked to have a little more room between me and my fellow diners. I was dining with a friend, but I would prefer a little more privacy if I were looking for a romantic restaurant. I enjoyed my meal, had the butter lettuce salad and salmon entree. Both were excellent renditions of traditional dishes. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious and a dish I don't find at restaurants often. I will go back to Grace, although I don't know that I will rush back."

"Food was good. Solid good. (FYI, the doughnut flight is a large dessert!) Great ambience with the low lighting/high ceilings. I liked their rolls (warm, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside). The wine pairings I got worked ok... the wines themselves were good but I didn't feel that they "paired" that well. But overall, excellent dining."

"I went on dineLa week. They had a special where you can pick one appetizer, one entree, and one dessert from the Entire menu, for $44. on the bill, we noticed they charged separtely for the appetizer, and dessert, on top of the $44. When we enquired, the waiter told us that some of the items had a "supplement" price, ie, $8. He said that that was additional charge if you ordered that item, and tld us he explained that charge to us before we ordered. He lied! We specifically told him we wnated to order off of dineLA, and he never explained the menu to us! When I insisted that he did not let us know about this, he angrily picked up the check, and angrily told us he will take those charges off. A pleasant dining experience ended badly."

"We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 to order the tasting menus. Each dish was very well done, no complaints at all about the food. Excellent.

Service - I still gave a 4 star because waitresses and waiters were at the highest level of kindness and politeness; however, the time it took for dishes to come out was a bit intolerable. We would wait an average 15 minutes between each of them.

This may be because Grace Restaurant had a very full night; I understand that, and therefore I am still giving very good ratings."

"This was one of the most memorable eating experiences I have ever had in the 35 yerars I have been in Los Angeles. The tasting menu with the wine pairing was absolutely fantastic. Just when you thought the meal could not get any better they proved your palate wrong, with bringing another superb course. One of the top resturants in Los Angeles and although not cheap much more reasonably priced than its competition including Melisse."

There is ample space between the tables, so you do not feel "jammed in" (as in some other restaurants). "We had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner at Grace! From the moment we walked in to when we left, the staff made sure it was a special evening for all. The holiday tasting menu was delicious and full of great choices, our table of 4 foodies were all very impressed! We brought two bottles of wine and were pleasantly surprised at the end of the night when the sommelier said the corkage was on the house, a nice touch. We had an all-around terrific evening, and are sad to see Grace move to downtown LA, but we will surely make the trip as Grace is one of our favorite LA restaurants - up there with AOC, Lucques, etc."

"The restaurant is beautifully decorated. I appreciate the fact that the lighting was soft giving it a warm and romatic feel but still bright enough to still see the menu. The service was great, our server was very attentive and helped us with our menu choice. The bread was outstanding. The food overall however fell a little flat. We also tried the doughnuts but were disappointed that the flavors weren't as bold or exciting as we were expecting it to be. Overall we weren't impressed with the food."

"Our service was impeccable and the wines very well-paired with the food, but no dish we were served was memorable. My guest and I each had butternut squash soup with toasted pumpkin seeds; he had the lamb and I had salmon with forbidden rice. While my salmon was well prepared, it was not what I would call memorable, and my date's lamb was tough and not as meaty as he would have liked. We had roasted pears for dessert, which were undercooked and too tough to penetrate with the soup spoons we were given. We awkwardly chased the tough pears all over the plate with our spoons, unable to enjoy them. For as much as this restaurant is raved about, I was disappointed and will probably not go back, finding it to be overrated."

"Pumpkin Ravioli and Salmon tartar were each superb. Wild salmon entree was "only" very good but not great. Venison was great. The dessert list this time around just didn't excite or impress us. Overall, this was not one of our best visits to Grace, but given that it was still worth every penny tells you that this is a great restaurant that should be visited and revisited."

"Had anniversary dinner on a Sat. night at 8:00 pm. Table was ready, service was adequate, food was decent but nowhere near worth the fee charged. Interestingly, we found that we received far less attention at our table then the table of two next to us. Could that have been because we did not order any wine and they were working on bottle #2? Perhaps, perhaps not. Makes one think."

"Definitely didn't deliver the punch I was hoping for. I tried the 5-course tasting menu. The sea urchin risotto was ok; an occasional taste of uni came through, but overall, it was rather bland. The pork belly was too heavily smoked, and not nearly as unctuous as it should have been; I actually had to cut pretty hard to get through it. The saddle of hare was uneventful, but the accompanying mushroom bread pudding and greens were absolutely delicious. The pork shank was a large portion, and again, too heavy on the bbq smoke; the rapini, however, delightfully bitter (it would have gone well with a nicely done slab of pork belly, actually), and the "home fries" were excellent. The "sticky toffee bread pudding" was ok."
