"I took my girlfriend to Forgione's for her birthday this week and not only was the food excellent as always but the staff went above and beyond. We showed up a little before five (our reservation was for 530) to a street that was closed off due to President Obama having a fund raiser across the street. The manager let us in and allowed us to have a couple drinks at the bar while we waited for dinner even though they weren't open yet. I can say that we had a wonderful dinner and the staff took very good care of us.

"This is the perfect restaurant to indulge in dishes that will take you to your happy place. The menu changes occasionally, but you will never be disappointed with the flavors, portions, or combinations of ingredients. The service is terrific and the restaurant's casual and stylish atmosphere makes you want to stay as long as you can. My husband and I like to order our own starters, share one as a 2nd course, and then have the mains. And you must save room for dessert - the bread pudding is not to be missed!"

"When I arrived with half our party the hostesses wouldn't seat us even though the restaurant was empty and the bar was packed. We then discovered the rest of our group was there for awhile. The food and wait staff were really good and I was almost ready to forgive the restaurant for the rude hostesses until I got an email from open table saying I never arrived for my reservation. Pretty interesting since the bill was about $450. I won't be returning or recommending them since New York has so many great restaurants without rude hostesses."

"We always wanted to check out the place and though that a birthday was fit. The service was impeccable from the waiter to the front of the house. They had a letter on the table for the special occasion welcoming us, the food was amazing and they made the night very special. I can't say enough good things about a place. Glad it's right in our neighboorhood and will certainly go again!"

"The staff at the hostess desk are clueless - the bar is wall to wall, I was 15 minutes early for the rest of my party, the dining area was empty, but I had to crowd into the bar area. When I did finally get the attention of the bartender, she was of no help in selecting a glass of wine, which was not her fault since the selection of wines by the glass is terrible. My glass was undrinkable. The waiter steered us towards "signature" dishes for appetizers and main course that were incredibly overpriced and no where near the expectations set by the waiter. Cocktails and wine selected at the table were good. Bottom line - over $500 for dinner for four including tip. Not worth it."

"I have been an Open Table user for over 8 years and this is one of the only reviews I would take the time to write! I am from San Francisco but travel to NY frequently. This was my first visit to Marc's restaurant (I tried to go last year but the restaurant was booked for a private party on the only free night that I had). I am a casual foodie...meaning I really enjoy scoping out new places and indulging in various menus, but I do not enjoy dishes that are too over the top and fancy. I decided on the tasting menu (foie gras, lobster, lamb, etc) and it was one of my top 10 meals of all time. The food, service and attention to detail is exquisite and Marc came by our table a few times to check up on us! I can't WAIT to visit again!!"

"Loved it! Fun upscale casual setting with bold, world class food. And the staff are wonderful! Even the one small slipup of the evening (we got an extra dish by mistake during our tasting menu, a bonus by any other measure!) was generously overcompensated for with complimentary wine. I can't say enough how friendly and sincere the staff were. I'll be back."

"Excellence!!! My husband made reservations for our Anniversary on April 20th, let me start by saying that my experience was phenomenon! Starting from the hostesss to the manager they were great! They sat us by a romantic corner which was ready with a letter from Iron Chef Marc Forgione congratulating us on our Anniversary, then our awesome waiter Jason set us up with two glasses of the bubbly (tasty) as he told us about the menu....now we choose the tasting menu OH MAMMA MIA did he steer us right!! from the Frios Gras to the Lamb I wouldn't be able to choose which one tasted better then the next....the Chili Lobster with Texas toast was to DIE FOR!!!!...the Banana Jameson was so deliciousssss! as was the Strawberry sorbet, etc..Again this"

"My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and everything was amazing. I made a reservation here with the sole purpose of having the Thursday special: the crispy pig's face. It was the most fantastic dish we've ever had. The octopus appetizer was delicious, and the massive ribeye special was spectacular. My husband and I tried 4 different cocktails and they were all perfect. There's no way to find fault with this place. Even our waiter, Jason, was very knowledgeable and attentive and funny. We have to come back to try everything else on the menu. My only regret was not asking to meet the Iron Chef and get a photo with him, but I didn't want to be THAT person. haha"

"I'm not normally one who writes reviews but I will gladly take the time to provide feedback on this gem. My wife and I were in NYC for my birthday and booked reservations ahead of time. Big fans of the cooking networks so quite familiar with Chef Forgione and his skills, so we were quite excited. The decor and setup was extremely inviting and relaxed. The service was spectacular. We asked our server for a lot of feedback on the dishes and he was completely honest with us in every aspect. Food was AWESOME to the point where my eyes rolled back in my head several times. Dessert was spectactular (Tiramisu rocks). To top is all off, Chef Forgione invited us to the kitchen to greet and chat for a bit. A truly specatular dining experience."

"Overall experience was great but we thought the "duck duck egg" and the waffle with quail dish were salted on heavier side - had I been drinking, it would've tasted better. "We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was absolutely incredible. The halibut was the best fish I've ever had. The complexity of flavors and textures were such a treat. From great drinks, to excellent creative food and tremendous service, it was a memorable experience. We got to see Mark Forgione in the kitchen carefully inspecting every dish that left his kitchen - and you could tell - because it was perfection. We will definitely be making another reservation when we return to New York."

"May be my favorite restaurant in NYC at the moment. Kampachi tartare was theatrical and fabulous, arctic char (which I never order) was out of this world, my son's fois gras and duck breast were delicious. Food is inventive without being contrived or pretentious. And everything tasted wonderful. They left plenty of space between appetizer and entree, friendly service, short-ish wine list but sommelier recommended a "cool" Greek red that surprisingly good and off the beaten path. I can't wait to go back."

"Restaurant had a great vibe.
Chili lobster was delicious, as was the banana bread pudding. We did try the chicken, and while good, I wouldn't say this is something that I would recommend as a must-have for others.
Getting the chili lobster recipe clipped to the bill at the end of the night was a nice touch...looking forward to making it at home!"

"AMAZING from top to bottom! I suggest going for the tasting menu and doing the wine pairing with it.
It is rustic and trendy in the heart of Tribeca. The wait staff were all friendly and so attentive.
The food is as exceptional as the chef himself. No complaints at all... simple divine!"

"Somebody screwed up. 3/24 was our reservation date yet when we arrived at the restaurant we were told that our reservation was for 3/31. Please explain how this happens. We were told by the hostess, who had a very cold and snippy attitude that "they have nothing to do with the dates in the web system". And basically too bad because no tables were available and come back on 3/31. We explained that this was a birthday celebration so waiting a week puts a damper on the celebration. We were offered the last 4 seats in the bar area which we accepted"

"As always the food was fabulous! But especially the Pig Face. When do you ever see that on a menu? We devoured it and the oysters and ended up not having much of our steaks, which were also great, but I ended up taking everything else home since my friends, who were also very impressed, were traveling the next day. So it was win-win all around. Where else would you find Pig Face as a special? Crispy skin and the most tender, juicy, flavorful meat. This place is something I always recommend to friends and will always be my top of my list. And the Chili Lobster - heavenly!"

"Very disappointed. Our server was cold & abrupt. And all dishes unimpressive. Especially at this point, expectations are high. Beet salad was subpar, cavatelli bolognese starter was more like bad inediblemac n cheese.

"Dinner at Forgione was exceptional. We dined on a Monday evening and the restaurant was busy but not packed. We ordered BBQ oysters and octopus appetizers. The oysters were just OK but the octopus was exceptionally good. Entrees were filet mignon and venison - both were excellent. Desert was strawberries and tatoos (they will have to explain this to you...also excellent. Overall one of the best meals my wife and I have had in quite some time.
Forgot to mention - Marc Forgione was working in the kitchen and came out into the dining room several times greeting diners and generally working the room. This added a very nice touch to the experience."

"Very enjoyable restaurant. The food was great, the service was awesome and friendly. I had the venison with the rye gnocchi, my best girl had the duck. We also had the Kampachi Tartare, and Scallops (as a pre-dessert rather than an appetizer) both also outstanding. The banana bread pudding was a great way to end the evening. And then got a great recommendation on an excellent bar 323 feet away."

"I love how comfortable the people and the place make you feel as soon as you walk in the door. From the very friendly girls at the door to our server Jason, they make it a great experience. For starters I got the Kampachi and my gf had the Chili Lobster ( one of us always gets this it is that good). The Kampachi was awesome. My gf went with her favorite in the Halibut for her main course and I went with the duck breast. Both were were great. Jason our server was prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable. It all made for a great birthday meal."

"This dinner was the second best of my life. The best dinner I've ever had was when I dined at Marc Forgione last year. The biggest problem I had was there was too much bread too early. The Foie Gras was of course served with bread and the lobster was served with Texas toast. By the time I finished the lobster I was full and I had four dishes to go in the tasting menu. The the Amuse-Bouche was especially memorable as Marc himself served and described it for me. How awesome ! The Thai clili lobster was the single best dish of my life. It was paired with a Pinot Noir that was just fabulous. What an amazing dinner !"
