"I meet a long time friend and we enjoyed the blue crab cake sandwich and ahi tuna salad. The bread is wonderful and the dipping sauce is to die for.

"We dine pretty frequently at Piatti's, mostly for business. The food recently has been lacking in seasoning and layers of flavor. The mushroom soup didn't taste like anything and needed salt and pepper to make it edible. The entree dishes were mediocre, namely the pork loin on special and the linguini w/clams, prawns and fish of the day (ordered minus the clams). I asked for just prawns scampi but the waiter wasn't sure the kitchen knew how to make it! So, I just modified the menu item to leave off the clams. I think they have had some turnover in the kitchen and the cooks aren't up to speed yet. At least, I hope that is all since I usually enjoy going to Piatti's for the food as well as the location and convenience."

"I've dined here a couple of times - the food is consistently good, the menu is interesting and the wine selection is good. The first time I came with a large group and the service was competent, but not remarkable. The second time was just my wife and I, and while the restaurant was busy, our server was curt to the point of being rude. I understand you're busy, but making me feel like I'm being a bother just by ordering is not cool. I have another group event planned here for next week and am hoping that this experience was just a fluke."

"We recently went there on a Saturday night (4/6)and everyone except myself had never been to the restaurant before. Everyone including myself was very dissapointed with the service and the food. The server made it feel like we were a burden. The salad 2 of our guests ordered were so vinegary tasting that it was inedible. The pizza according to another guest was terrible. I was very surprised since I'd been there several times for lunch but never for dinner."

"The service was excellent for lunch. I had a business lunch here and our waiter and the staff there was just outstanding. Everything came on time, water was always filled, conversation was never interrupted and we just had a pleasant experience. "My girlfriend and I visited Piatti on a whim, on Saturday evening. We arrived about 8:00pm and although I made a reservation, we did not need it. The dining room was quiet, maybe 8 or 10 other parties total, which we both liked. The server was outstanding. Even though we knew what we wanted in terms of both food and wine, he was very attentive and nothing but helpful and respectful. The menu, although very short and focused, had anything I could have wanted at an Italian restaurant. The appetizers, entrees, drinks, and service were top-notch. I drove past this restaurant every day for more than 2 years without trying it - I would highly recommend you don't make the same mistake."

"If I expected a nice quiet restaurant for dinner I was certainly mistaken! Not sure anymore if those exist. Restaurant was packed, noisy and space was tight. Next time around I will chose another restaurant that allows diners a little more space to enjoy their meal and surroundings. Server very friendly and attentive but at time too intrusive seems one person or another was at our table every few minutes."

"We celebrated our daughter's birthday at Piatti's primarily, because she likes really good, authentic Italian food. Piatti's is the only place in the Bay Area that I have been where Italian food does not mean food trenched in garlic and olive oil, which pretty much every other Italian restaurant stands for. The menu has the usual items, such as steak, chicken etc., but also a very respectable daily menu.
My daughter's pasta with tomato sauce was freshly prepared, which almost never happens. The portion was somewhat small, so we ordered a second one, which the chef provided for free. My wife loved her duck breast and I took the risotto.

"Went in expecting some good Italian food and was very disappointed. The food menu was very short with just 4 salads, 4 pastas and 4 or 5 pizzas. they seemed to have a quite lenghty selection of wines though. I did not try their wines on my weekday dinner. Their margherita was very depressing if it wasn't for the salad, we would have returned hungry from the restaurant."

Food was OK, but not memorable and the feel of the restaurant is casual with people (customers) moving tables and chairs around to accomodate late arrivals to their large groups. To a certain extent it seemed that the floor manager didn't have control of the situation.It could be the location as there are ~10 very casual restaurants in the same strip mall and the customers may be bringing the ambiance doen to the lowest common denominator."

"I have eaten at Piatti's numerous times, and I often take customers there because the restaurant is very close to my company and I love the food and the outdoor seating. After many good experiences, however, this past visit was disappointing. The restaurant was quite busy, which it usually is during lunch, but the hostess as well as the waiters seemed stressed and were quite impatient. We were barely able to finish our meals when a waiter already grabbed the plates. My fork was literally still in the air. I felt rushed, as if our table was needed urgently. Hopefully this is an isolated incident."

"I take colleagues to lunch here frequently and it's always good. Also held a company dinner for approx. 40 and the staff did a fabulous job hosting. Food was delicious."

"I have always enjoyed dining at Piatti's.
I was a regular at the Stanford mall location for many, many years. Now that it is no longer there and I live in San Jose, am delighted to find one in my new backyard. It was my first visit to this location.
Had a great crab sandwich, and tried the new straight from the barrel wine. Fantastic. Will definitely return for both the food and wine.
Nice setting, great food and wine, and service."
