"Was there for dinner with 4 other people on a Saturday night and the food presentation and preparation were both flawless. This s a really e pensive restaurant but worth every penny. All of the wait staff were friendly and explained each item you were being served. We had a great time and ill be back."

"Nice ambience and good service but they should be embarrassed by what they charge for the food given how mediocre it is. I started with a scallop that tasted like it had been sitting under a heating lamp for far too long and had the beef as my entree and it was tasteless-truly! My husband felt the same way about his salmon and said that while the sauce on his gnocchi was good, the pasta itself was not."

"We have been to many fine Italian restaurants, including Rome, Venice , London and Toronto. We would normally order a starter [ salad ] and a pasta dish, without a "secondi" and be fully satisfied. At Spiaggia, we were told the pasta dishes were small and would not be an adequate quantity on their own. So we opted for the Table d'hote - I think six dishes for $98. The servings were extremely small and while very good, at this price it was not what we had expected."

"My fiancé and I had the pleasure of having the tasting menu with beverage pairing. We were prerpaired for a grand evening, but the restaurant exceeded our expectations on every level. The ambiance was grand and romantic. The food was delicious and luxurious. The service was accommodating and attentive. We can't wait to return for another amazing experience."

"Quiet Tuesday; all of the excellent service of a Fri/Sat sans all the noise. Pasta tasting menu was divine - as we're the beverage pairs. From beginning to end the staff were attentive and knowledgable. Basil-ricotta rolls should not be missed from the bread plate offering. Give Atkins a night off - you'll be glad you did. On our way out we stopped to watch the chefs prepare and plate three dishes. Their artful coordination and professional handling of their tools and food was impressive. And, the kitchen IS SPOTLESSLY CLEAN. It was a final bit of confirmation; evidence of a well run establishment. We will return!!"

"The food at Spiaggia was great, but it could tone down the attitude a bit. It's a bit more full of itself than is deserved. Generally good service, but some gaffes justify the three stars. Wine alert - the wine list has some amazing wines but very little that is reasonably priced and most of the gems are too young. For example, why would someone pay $800 for a bottle of Barolo that is nowhere near approachable? Also considering what you're paying, the wine service was weak. Go for the food, but be prepared for other disappointments."

"My husband and I ate at Spiaggia on a Saturday night. We struggled to find the restaurant as it was inside an office building, but once we figured it out, we were ok. We both had the pasta tasting menu with drink pairings, which we thought was very good and the pairings were thoughtful. We did the tasting because it was the most cost effective option. As some other diners noted, it was really hard to find a wine that was under $100, which was disappointing. The restaurant has a pretty view, but I found the decor to be a bit dated. We also had to wait almost an hour after we were done eating to get our check, which was annoying. Nevertheless, the food was delicious!"

"The service and quality/uniqueness of the dishes was exceptional. This is a high priced restaurant however the food is outstanding in all courses, bread to dessert, and definitely 4 star and a must to experience while visiting downtown Chicago. "Split the antipasti and first pasta course and 2 entrees, plus 2 drinks each It ended up being $350 with not so generous tip because I have enough loans as it is. Antipasta course was scallops, usually an s at the end of a noun insinuates plural, but for your hard earned $33 scallops...you get 1 scallop. It's a nice place but extremely over priced and you end up paying for the name, not what you eat. If you want to pay for hype/a name it's your place, if you want a good, fullfilling meal I suggest another place"

"What a perfectly elegant restaurant with service to match. The food was delicious, and my parents enjoyed the prix fixe menu. Not a single complaint to be made. Had dinner a few nights prior at Cafe Spiaggia, and while the food was of a higher level at Spiaggia, both meals were delicious. If you want a quiet and romantic meal, Spiaggia is the pick."

"I've eaten at Spiaggia about once a year for the past 20 years and I would say their food has consistently evolved but always remained outstanding. Service though, can be spotty at times. For example, during this dinner, we were efficiently shown to our table but then we were left there for 15 minutes - no offer of a menu, water, or drinks. We just sat there. It is one of my pet peeves so I got up to complain when one of the head service staff noticed and duly got our table going. Perhaps a miscommunication but this type of lapse should never happen at an establishment like this. The other pet peeve is the "jackets required". I've been to most of San Pellegrino's top 50 of the world's best restaurants and NONE of them require one."

"This was third time for us to have a dinner in this restaurant. We think their service is getting worse than before.
Especially, the service level of waiter is really bad.
They did not even know how to put the knife and folks correctly. They do not even explain about food at the end.
There are a lots of good restaurant recently and they know what the service is.
The food is still ok but it was getting salty a little bit, especially at the end of the course menu.

We are kind of disappointed this time. I hope they will train the waiter and rethink about service."

"Very poor value for the price point. Pasta oily, salad without flavour, roasted suckling pig excellent. Service wonderful, however at 9:00 p.m. a small child was seated at the next table. She was squealing. Not appropriate when spending $660 for my dinner. Maitre'd told me that Spaggia was a family restaurant. No Thanks."

"We celebrated a special anniversary by both of us having the Truffle Tasting Menu. I also included the wine pairing. It was the most mouth watering food I have EVER tasted! Every course was better than the previous.

If you can only get one entree, get the gnocchi. It was AMAZING!"

"Our party of four ordered very different things from both the ala carte and the tasting menus. While there was nothing served to us that was terrible, nothing was served to us that should have commanded the prices that were charged either. Wine by the glass was $25.00 and seemed to be a very short pour.

The one of us who ordered the pasta tasting menu was the most satisfied, but, overall, it did not live up to the hype."

"We chose Spiaggia for our 20th anniversary celebration. The restaurant had printed a special menu with our names on it for the occasion and all the servers wished us a Happy Anniversary. The service, food and wine chosen by the sommelier were outstanding! We also had a special table overlooking Michigan Ave. and Oak St. Beach. It was a wonderful, romantic experience."

"I was expecting so much more from this place!!!
My wife had the pasta menu. I got a regular menu.
I would say that the food os so normal for a restaurant that had a michelin star...
I would not reccomend this place.
Keep your money and go for a real food experience."

"Our experience was outstanding. The Maitre de', Chad, was charming and tremendously accommodating. Service, superb. Food presentation and flavor outstanding. Had a premiere window table overlooking the street scene, the park and a view of the lake. Would sincerely recommend Spiaggia for a special dining experience. Can't wait to go again!"
