"The nautical theme at Admiral Risty is very charming, and a view of the Pacific cannot fail to please! The prices are rather high, but this is, I suppose, to be expected at a special theme restaurant. I had the wild caught salmon, which was nice, and my husband enjoyed his roasted chicken. I like to take him here for a sit-down dinner, rather than going through a crowded bouffet-style set up for Father's Day."

"We had not been to Risty's for about 10-15 years. We used to go 3-4 times per year. Were pleased to see the shopping center had had a facelift. The view is stunning, but they have crammed way too many tables into the restaurant. The clientele seemed very snooty. If they sense you are nor one of theirs, be prepared for disapproving looks, even from the staff. Maybe we were a little under dressed compared to some, but not out of place. The party at the table next to us actually glared when we were seated. The twenty-something gal at the next table would not budge to let one of our guests out to leave the table---that kind of childishness.
If they felt we do not meet their dress code or snob code, they should not have seated us."

"Always love the Admiral, this time our server was not as attentive as I expect in a high-end place like this. We waited a long time with empty soda glasses and he asked us if we wanted a refill, and then he made kind of big deal about the fact that the refills were free. Aren't they free at EVERY restaurant these days? The food was good but not as good as it has been in recent visits."

"Admiral Risty has been around for a long, long time - it has all the ingredients that bring people back time and again. If you want a modern bar scene, head up the coast to Redondo, Hermosa & Manhattan Beach ..... but if you want a good old-fashioned place to dine and relax, you will love the atmosphere here.
You can sit back and and enjoy cocktails and fabulous ocean views in the comfy bar/lounge; and most evenings there is relaxing music as well... but it's the consistently good food and service that make this restaurant a classic dining experience."

"A classic dining experience provided by a well known and established seafood and Chop house. It ranks right up there will all of the other classic So Cal establishments, but as an added bonus provides an excellant view of the California Coast sunset with a great view of Catalina Island to boot.

"Love the restaurant because the quality of food hasn't changed after all the years I have been eating at Admiral Risty. Great specialty Salmon dish and fresh bread. Only thing I didn't like was the corkage fee of $15.00. Other seafood restaurants I've been to charge $5.00, but it won't stop me from me returning for dinner again."

"Unless you are really hungry split an entree with your guest. Seafood is the specialty and the sunset view of the Pacific Ocean is worth the price of entry. We have been going to this local special place for forty years and never been disappointed."

"I ordered a flank steak sandwich for brunch. There were four bite size pieces of meat on this sandwich!! The menue did not say this sandwich was actually a fried, cheese melt with very few pieces of bell pepper, and literally no meat!! My 94 year old father asked me " Where is the meat?"!! I sent my plate back, which I have never done anywhere. No one from management came over to apologize. And I didn't order anything else. I won't be back."

"Went here for an early Mother's Day on Saturday. Service was outstanding. Food order was taken quickly, each course was brought promptly, and water cups were always full. Our party had Sea Bass, Salmon, Ciopinno, Risty's Flank Steak, and two kids' meals. All of the fish is fresh, and delicious. They give you 8 choices on how they will prepare the fish (Cajun, Poached, CharBroiled, Piccata, etc). The Flank Steak was marinated in Honey, Ginger, and Garlic, and was the best I've ever tasted.
The restaurant has a good view of the ocean, but unfortunately our table was back a ways from the windows, and it was a bit foggy that day, so there was not much to see.
We might come here several times a year, if it wasn't such a long drive."

"We had dinner at Admiral Risty. My Cesar Salad was perfect. I also ordered the Rack of Lamb which was the biggest order I have ever had, so much food! The service was amazingly fast and efficient without being intrusive. Everyone in our part ordered a different item and they all thought theirs was great. I sometimes forget about this restaurant as there are so many great ones in the area but you just can never go wrong with this place!"

"We'd been wanting to dine at Admiral Risty's for years and finally took the opportunity on Easter Sunday to do so. While it was overcast outside - the view was still amazing! Jimmy, our server was excellent!!! And he certainly made the entire experience exponentially better. The food was delicious! We made friends with the patrons sitting next to us - so very friend atmosphere overall and the service was wonderful! Highly recommend. They didn't serve their normal brunch for Easter so we're planning to go back for sure. There are so many other dishes we wish we could have tried. The portions are large though so we ended up taking most of it home."

"We were VERY disappointed! Had planned a special 76th birthday celebration, but it was diminished by poor service. Food was very good. Our server threw our entrees down, and disappeared. Had to ask for the birthday dessert. Waited over 30 minutes for the check. Asked for check 4 times!! Finally, got up to chase down the waiter to get the bill!. Not going back anytime soon."

"First visit. Pricy but the portions are generous. You're paying for the view (and the service which was warm, hospitable, and overall wonderful). The clam chowder was tasty. The filet was under seasoned and overcooked, but not to the point of inedibililty (I am just picky when it comes to steaks). I ordered med rare as it came med well. Wife ordered the trout and it came out perfect. The desserts were good. Mousse was hice and creamy. The creme brûlée had a great consistency, and the brulee was perfect but I wanted more vanilla flavor (would recommend they put flecks of am vanilla bean to punch up the flavor. I'd consider going back."

"Our waiter was not very attentive and difficult to understand due to his heavy foreign accent. He was sufficient, but a bit more conversation would have been better which would include an explanation of the food preparation prior to our ordering the meal and desert. Also, actions I would expect from this place, such as clearing out our table with a table cloth crumb scraper were missing from our experience. The food was EXCELLENT."

"Have been there before and will return for sure. Had a server named Martin this night who simply wnet above and beyond. The food is always exceptional but Martins service, helpfulness, courteys, and professionalism took the evenming from a good experience as always to a night to remember. Martin is an asset to Admiral Ristys and hopefully when we return in the near future he will be there to assist us again."

"Our waiter was excellent and really made it a nice dining experience. Also, the guitar player, Scott Grillo, set the stage for a perfect night of pleasant music. He is so personable. "As always, the restaurant provided a beautiful, panoramic (sunset) ocean view. However, though my reservation was made over a week in advance, I was disappointed to arrive at my reservation time to learn my window request could not be accommodated. We were escorted to a quiet, and still rather "view-suitable" table for two.
The waiter was great.
The "daily baked" bread offered tasted day-old. The baked clam appetizer was excellent. The best item ordered. It was our 45th Wedding Anniversay, and we had celebrated previous anniversaries at AR's on three different years. It seemed the quality of the food was lacking--but, I can truly say, the value of the meal was quite sufficient."

"Mature crowd! Not very kid-friendly. Food was good! The Flank Steak was fair but the lobster was very good. Parking is easy. Crowded waiting area. Requested a window view through Open Table but obviously the reservation was not reviewed as the host told me he had a table ready but it would be a while to get a window. Ended up with a booth but I was sitting in the aisle so EVERYONE was bumping into me when passing especially the wait staff. I understand that not all requests can be honored but why ask on the reservation? The host was just interested in getting my party of 6 out of the small waiting lobby. Wasn't a bad experience but it wasn't that great either."

"What a great place. My wife and I have been coming here for years. This is where we had our first date, our wedding reception, anniversaries and my 40th birthday celebration. Its nice to see the same friendly staff over the years, imo this speaks volumes about the working environment and translates to great service. "This restaurant with its beautiful ocean view has been around for many years. The bar is small. The service and ambiance are both wonderful. The split salad were crispy, tasty and large enough to be split again. The steaks were served exactly as ordered and well seasoned. While this was my first visit I am looking forward to my next visit."
