Spasso features Italian, Mediterranean cuisine and Tapas. Spasso has been a new favorite neighborhood destination located in San Carlos on Laurel Street. Spasso features an extensive Napa Valley and Italian wine selection, and a full bar with specialized cocktails are available. Our waitstaff are consistently friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. "we were a party of 4. my mother uses a walker. i had requested a table with easy access for her. we were seated earlier than our reservation time. the wait staff was attentive without being overbearing. the mother's day menu was smaller than normal but offered a great variety of dishes. none were over priced for the holiday. our orders included: spinach salad with chicken, canelloni, spasso salad and penne with chicken in a creamy tomato sauce. our meal was prepared and served very fast. no long wait due to the holiday. each dish was prepared very well. we finished our meal with creme brulee.. it was excellent.. another plus was that there wasn't a price-fixe menu. i would recommend trying spasso's anytime."

"We arrived with 4 kids and 2 moms, expecting the lunch menu "with some extra items for Mother's Day". I had told our party to expect brunch. My bad. It was a dinner menu, with no satay, no burgers, fewer tapas, and mostly entrees that kids aren't too crazy about. (Not the menu on the Spazzo website). The food was quite good, so it wasn't a total bust, but I was very disappointed that it wasn't what we expected nor was it advertised as such. I checked the menu online and called the restaurant to check before we went, so I really tried to do my homework. I even stopped by during the week. In the end, I felt bad that I dragged another family out for a meal they didn't plan for so I picked up the whole tab. At least that made me feel better."

"We love this place...the food is always really, really good. Their menu has a lot of choices, with appetizers, salads, tapas, entrees, etc. I usually like to get a small bite and a salad and their tapas are perfect! Their cocktails leave a little to be desired though...."

"Met friends there recently for drinks & tapas/appetizers. Spasso has a great selection of those items, and we had a good sampling of the menu. We chose an outdoor table, which was perfect for talking and enjoying a warm pleasant evening. Both the food and the service were very good."

"The atmosphere is friendly, as is all of the staff. Our party of six had a delightful dinner. My husband loves thewarm cabbage salad. We enjoyed the pastas and fish special. For dessert we shared the bread pudding and creme brule. The service is attentive and helpful. It is a bit noisy, but we really enjoy eating here."

"This trip to Spasso was with business colleagues who were in town from New Zealand. We ordered a bunch of small plates and had drinks before they had to return to SFO for a night flight. Polenta cubes, crab cakes, piquillo peppers--these are some of the tastiest things on the menu of small plates. But we eat at Spasso often and have never had even a mediocre meal--it's all been stellar. Great food, delicious drinks, and the nicest, prompt service."

"Spasso was such a nice place for my wife and I to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary. We each had a nice martini, shared a warm cabbage salad, enjoyed perfectly prepared Halibut and Skirt Steak, and finished off the meal with a wonderful cobbler for dessert. We were at a nice table by the window and were able to quietly enjoy a one-on-one conversation. The service was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience."

"We love this restaurant. The service is always friendly. Sitting outside in the CA sunshine is always great. The black pepper pasta, the chicken parm, and many of the small plates (the polenta cubes and the piquillo peppers in particular) are delicious. "food very good, but a little pricey. 5 little scollops for $28 special of the day. Very crowded tables lined up along the wall all 2 tops. The tables for 4 were much better. Was a very cold and windy night and we could feel the cold air everytime someone can in the front door. Overall a very good place for good food, well prepared by a chef, not just a kid cooking meat. I will go back but it will be a while. I would try this place anytime. Give it a try and judge it for yourself, I would give it 4 stars overall."

It helped that we had gone during lunch time to speak with the chef about the menu (did a preset menu), as well as talk to them about the overall experience we wanted to have. That made all the difference in the world because the service was terrific! Food was excellent and the service was great.

"The waitress came up twice to take our order and when we hadn't looked at the menu yet, she failed to come back again and I had to flag down the bus boy to get her to take our order - maybe 30 minutes after we arrived.
The service was attentive at first but since we were slow to order, the service became slow. (Perhaps we brought that on ourselves.)
The food was OK but not great. I've heard good things about this restaurant and feel perhaps my friend and I ordered something (crab cake sandwich) which is not one of their better dishes. The dressing on the salad was tasteless and heavy. I will return, based on the good opinions of the restaurant from others, but this dining experience was not the best."

"We had reservations at 730pm and didn't get seated until 800pm. It was really crowded with no room at the bar because people were eating their meals at the bar so needless to say I wasn't happy! When we were finally seated at our table the owner brought us to appetizer dishes, a fried calamari and bruschetta. That was a very nice gesture and we appreciated it. The food was very good and service too. The restaurant is very small and so that is probably the problem with seating but if it wasn't for the wait I would have rated it higher. All in all it is a very good restaurant and I would recommend it to my friends and I would go back. Just be prepared to wait!"
