"I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and we both loved it! Both of us were new to Nara, and the staff was extremely helpful. It was my girlfriend's first time trying sushi, and our waiter made sure to suggest the best finds for newbies. We would love to go anytime, including just for lunch! The food was wonderful, and displayed very nicely. The sushi rolls were very filling! I would highly recommend!"

"We went to Nara's to celebrate a birthday. Some members of the party were not sushi lovers. by the end of the night they were converted. We asked our server to pick appetizers for the group and she did a wonderful job. I highly recommend the Korean short ribs. After the appetizers we had and shared a wide selection of rolls. All were delicious/interesting and with complex flavors. The sake list is quite extensive and fairly priced. Try the Horin."

"Food was awesome lots of unique choices and very fresh. The atmosphere was a little noisy but there were events going on in the area so its was pretty busy that evening."

"The food and service was great..so was the view..had a window table. I was a bit hesitant to go as I don't care for sushi which my son had said was very good there. But the small plates were great.I would definitely go again."

"This was our second visit to Nara, and both times the food and service were excellent. We shared a Sashimi platter and a sushi roll. Fish was melt in your mouth fresh, and a nice selection. We will definitely return for a special occasion."

"The food was alright. The prices were way too high for what they delivered. 7 dollars for two egg rolls and their specialty rolls were 12 to 15 dollars and only had three pieces. General sushi is one to two dollars more than what I usually see elsewhere. Nothing blew my mind, or my taste buds. Dropped way too much cash for ok sushi. The Dreams of Summer roll was 15 dollars and actually delivered its worth, but it is seasonal and only had a small amount of actual fish."

"I went to dinner with a group and the service was poor and the food was so-so. Maybe this was an off night. I've has lunch there and it was good, but this visit was not. The server seemed less than enthused to be there and two entrees came out, but the rest if the party had to wait almost 15 minutes to get their food. It just wasn't a good dining experience."

"Crossroads Roll was really good as well as the Forbidden apple roll and spicy yellowtail. Can't go wrong - all beautifully presented. Our waiter Josh was very knowledgeable and friendly."

"Best sushi in KC, hands-down. Chef Koji is amazingly creative. They have a great beer and sake menu. This place reminds me of the best sushi restaurants on the West coast. The robata grill offers options for people who don't care for sushi."

"There was live music - which we were not expecting it made it a little too loud to have a conversation for what was suppose to be a romantic dinner for his birthday - a little uncomfortable sitting at a table where the people next to us were so close they could reach our plates."

"Excellent Sushi!!! But very loud!! There was a party of 17 across for us. It would be nice if they had a room for those things. The table next to us asked to move because they kept bumping their chair."

"Good food-very fresh! Service was good-very friendly. A modern spin on sushi and Japanese dining. A little loud for my taste but it was in a popular Sat. night destination area. Overall, great!"

"We're not sushi fans but our 28-yr-old son is, and this was his requested restaurant for his birthday celebration. Really, really loud at all times. Could still have conversations but not quiet ones. Non-sushi entrees were good but not great. Tempura appetizer was very, very good. Our son thought the sushi was great. What we tasted was good but, as I said, we're not sushi fans."

"Great atmosphere in a old building in downtown. Service was attentive and friendly. Food only so-so, Rolls sounded better in their menu descriptions. Delivery on concept was mixed."

"My husband and I went to Nara before atteding a performance at The Kauffman Center on a Wednesday night. We lucked-out because Wednesday night is "Ladies' Night." Our sushi was extremely delicious (we ordered off of the Ladies' Night menu) and extremely cheap! I ordered a delightful martini and my husband had a nice draft. We made our reservations with OT before time, so we had no trouble getting a seat. However, the service was pretty slow. We probably wouldn't have minded a slow turn-around time had we not had to be at our next stop. The live music was really enjoyable. We will definitely be back when we have more time! I'm glad we found this restaurant!"

"Excellent neighborhood establishment! Great food, atmosphere, and service. A few blocks walk from power and light. My wife and I are from out of the area but will be sure to make a return trip to Nara when we visit next."
