"It was my first time for dinner and I doubt I will return. My meal alone was over $60 , some of which was the glass of wine for which I was charged $3 more than I thought it was priced. The service was adequate but disengaged, the food - everything, even the vegetables - was overspiced, it was very expensive and the food was not great. The bread pudding was very dry and tasteless; the waiter did not take the charge off nor offer me a replacement selection. It was noisy, even though there were only 4 tables occupied.
I love this place for lunch, even though it is also noisy then. They have the best quiche in town. I recommend this as a lunch restaurant, but not for dinner. They have a few tables outside for dining as well."

"For anniversary dinner my wife and I ate at Room 39. At 6:15 on a Friday night we were immediately seated. There were only three other couples in the restaurant at the time. Our waitress was attentive and polite, although somewhat unkempt. We noticed that the wait staff were not dressed alike and one appeared to be wearing street clothes. We started with the rabbit tureen, which was excellent. Then we went to the main course. My wife had duck breast and I had octopus. Both were generously portioned and had a very nice presentation. I was somewhat disappointed that both dishes were served at just a few degrees above room temperature. The wine list is small but nice. (Bottles are marked up 300%. This alone will keep me from taking guests.)"

"Service was good, pleasant waitstaff. Grapefruit juice with lime was a nice touch. Scone was delicious, pancakes with goat cheese ad strawberries were wonderful and the two of us ordered a biscuit after eating our meal to try it, and we loved it!! The scrambled eggs with chunks of ham was very good. We will go back and recommend it to our friends. Your restaurant was really the one we never went to out of all of the places to eat in Mission Farms. We will go back for sure~"

"My husband and I have dined at the Leawood Room 39 location a couple times and have previously had good experience with service. On our most recent visit, we had a terrible experience with the manager who was terribly rude to us and actually stomped away from our table.For the price point, we would expect to be treated in a friendly manner and unfortunately we do not plan to return to this restaurant again. There are plenty of other places where we can be treated with respect."

"As usual, we had a fabulous meal at Room 39. There are lots of great places to eat in KC, and we choose to eat here every time for a reason. I am not a soup and salad kind of girl, but I could be here. The roasted beets in the salad are my favorite. The fresh, local ingredients create elegance in the simplicity. Can't wait to go back."

"Took clients for lunch. Everyone was very happy with their entree and commented on how fresh the food tasted. I had the lettuce wraps and carrot soup which were both excellent. "The atmosphere is visually appealing, but every sound bounces off the hard surfaces of the room making it a noisy, clattering environment. The service was excellent, friendly, personable with attention to detail. The house salad was fresh and light but skimpy on the veggies that were its signature. The bread and butter was deliciously fragrant and addictive! I could have made a meal of them--oh, wait, I did! The entree, a rice dish, was an over-cooked, over-salted disappointment. I was famished but could only manage a few bites as the sodium level was through the ceiling. The server was so intent on boxing my leftovers that I didn't have the heart to tell him I why I couldn't finish it. Sadly, the box went home to the trash can."

"I am a very frequent diner at Room 39. That is why I chose this restaurant for my birthday dinner. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience this time. We were there for 25 minutes without speaking to the server. She was busy with a large table (that arrived around the same time we did). I got up to speak to the manager who was getting drinks at the bar. When I approached her and explained (in a very nice way) she was extremely defensive, saying the bartender had a full bar. She was not apologetic in the least. She did however send us a new server, Rita, who was delightful and took care of us, even comping a few small items on our bill. I think they were understaffed, but that's no excuse for rude behavior from the manager."

"Had a reservation and got seated promptly. Service was slow due to two servers and a house manager for the entire restaurant. Server was indifferent. Food was good not great. One dinning companion ordered scallops which were old and restaurant tried to cover it up by salting heavily and over seasoning. Our server never informed the house manager about our issue. A diner next to us who ordered scallops also had bad/old scallops. Food was creative, but didn't hit the spot. Wouldn't go back again."

"We took advantage of the 4-course dinner which enabled us to try a number of different dishes. There was a lot of flexibility as well. We could order two appetizers or soup and salad and entree. The food was delicious and presentation was pretty.

"Food was terrific as well as the service. Charming place. Unfortunately, the accoustics made it to be a NOISY place. It is a small and intimate restaurant, so you are placed closely to other diners which means lots of chatter. It's worth it, though, for the great dishes."

"I have previously loved everything I ordered at Room 39. This experience the food was mediocre. My gnocchi was burnt, the scallops were a bit fishy. There was bacon in everything, which was interesting at first and lost interest at the bacon ice cream. Fair, I may give them another chance."
