"We normally have a nice experience dining at Viceroy but on this particular occasion the service was slow and our pancakes arrived not cooked all the way through. The staff seemed preoccupied with setting up for the mother's day buffet, but I was also there to celebrate mother's day and did not have a positive experience. Hopefully this was just a bad day for them."

"I brought my mother for an early mothers dsy brunch because she was going to be out of town. Food was ok but definitely nothing to write home about. I went mostly for the atmosphere at the patio which again was ok not great. Wouldn't rush back. I do like it for drinks in the evening though."

"Excellent food and service. Relatively quiet and romantic. The only problem here is the parking. Parking is $12 for 2 hours and $5 for each hour thereafter, with NO validation. So you have to rush your dinner and get to valet before your 2 hours is up. Parking validation should be included!! This ruins a perfectly good evening!"

"We ordered a bottle of wine and a number of small bites. The food was all good, some of it was fantastic. The best pork belly we've had in L.A. Crostinis were delicious. Staff was excellent."

"There weren't many people there for lunch on Monday but the Diver scallops on crab risotto was delicious. we sat outside in back of the hotel and it was tranquil. Love the Hotel decor!"

"We have been to Whist on several occasions for drinks and have always appreciated the great ambiance and drinks. This was our first dining experience and it was very good. Whist has apparently started doing a tapas-style small plate menu which was quite tasty and enjoyable to try a few different menu items. Our server was the only downside - stuffy would be a compliment. This guy was very unfriendly and almost snooty. Said about 10 words to us the entire night and made for an awkward interaction every time he approached the table. Great restaurant...service on this night - eh?."

"The Viceroy is one of my favorite spots. Right by the beach, and it's a great place for a date, business meeting, or a group going out for the night. I love the style of this place, and the options of having the dining room, bar, outside patio, or poolside cabana. The food, drinks, service, and ambiance is excellent. My only complaint is that I would prefer if they would expand the menu to include a complete selection of full size entrees. I had a table full of 6 hungry business men. We were frustrated with the portion size. No one really felt like they got a full meal, but it felt like we paid for several full meals. If they can simply add a selection of full size entrees or family size plates to the menu I'd come back more often."

"My first time at Whist. There was apparently only one server for the whole dining room. He worked hard, but as the room filled up he was stretched thin. A personal peeve of mine is Whist doesn't serve bread, you have to order cornbread from the menu. While the graphic on the tables was amusing a tablecloth was needed. The place mats were a plastic weave of some sort (yikes!) and the utensils were standard diner cutlery. Unappealing considering the elegance of the decor. The apple cake for dessert was boring. Also, we were told when seated that a birthday desert would be free, but the server charged us and we had to correct him. The halibut was very good. There was just something "off" about the whole night."

"Our first small plate experience and it was very yummy! Portions were not so small IMHO but more like large appetizers size. The beet salad was delish. The roasted brussel sprouts could have been a smaller portion just cuz they were so rich and again delish. Had the braised short rib and was expecting it to have a bone but it did not..which was a good thing and delish. Also had the pork belly which was soooo succulent! And also delish. The service was excellent as well. With each new dish an explanation in detail was always given. In the end...Great food and Great service"
