"Another excellent experience marred only by a minor disapointment with the chicken. It was slightly overcooked. Everything else was marvelous. We talked to the manager for ten minutes and it was a grand experience. Prairie Star remains one of the two or three best restaurants in the Albuquerque area."

"We have dined at Prairie Star several times. The location, menu and service have in the past provided a possessive dining experience. We brought out of town business associates to the restaurant hoping for a lovely evening. This will be the last time I depend on the restaurant as the the food preparation was exceptionally poor, the waiter was snooty and I left embarrassed re. my selection of restaurants."

"As a returning customer, I was very disappointed with our last meal at Prairie Star. The first problem was my glass of pinot noir (red wine) was served chilled, very chilled. That is not how red wine shuld be served and I sent it back to the bar for a replacement. Second, by the time we had finished our appetizerr, the server had not brought bread to the table and we had to ask for it. And third, I ordered my steak rare and it was served medium to meduim rare. An added disappointment os that they had just changed their menu and the meals now offered are no longer unusual. It is the typical chicken, steak, pasta, fish. They used to have quail, pork chop and lamb chop and these are no longer available. It will be a while before we go bef"

"We usually go here because we can consistently get a great meat at a reasonable price. It wasn't great this time, although we will go back. My "medium rare, please" salmon was fully cooked, medium at least. My husband's butternut squash ravioli was switched to gnocchi, without him being given an opportunity to chose another item from the menu. They were out of their frozen (!) ravioli, and were in the process of changing the menu. The manager did comp the desserts, which we appreciated, and gave us $10 off next visit coupons. However, it was not up to it's usual standards, making me re-think going out to dinner in the future."

"Wednesday Night is our out to dinner night and Prairie Star always delivers a menu worth sharing. The chef has some specials on Wednesday's so even if the regular menu isn't to your liking the menu has lots of wiggle room.
Ask for Dennis when you make your reservations and you wont be disappointed!"

"Perfectly-prepared, beautifully-presented food served by a helpful but unintrusive waiter. Extensive wine list, surprising for New Mexico - they carry Williams Selyem pinot noir, usually a reliable litmus test for a serious wine merchant. We had the pumpkin bisque, the quail and the smoked beef tenderloin - all outstanding! The views of the surrounding countryside and the majestic Sandias in the background made the experience the more enjoyable. Bravo!!"

"My husband & I went during restaurant week & both enjoyed our meals. His steak was cooked as he likes it (blue) and my chicken breast was a good sized portion and flavorful. Great sweet potato and jalapeno soup & the creme brule was excellent. The courses did come quite quickly, so if you are looking for a leisurely paced meal, it is recommended that you advise your server."

"We have been to Prairie Star many times and enjoy it each time. One of the best parts of the experience is that we can actually hear ourselves and our table mates during the meals. "We love Pairie Star, especially for special occasions. The service & food are always excellent, and the restaurant is in a very secluded spot surrounded by hummingbird feeders and wonderful views of the mountains. And on Wednesday nights they are currently running a really nice special that gives the choice of one of two appetizers, one of two entrees, and a shared dessert, plus a bottle of really nice wine, all for about $30.00 per person. Can't beat that! Five-star food, five-star service. It may be a bit of a drive for people in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, but definitely worth it. Especially if you stay at Hyatt Tamaya, where you can get the shuttle to and from the restaurant. One of the best in town."

"Went on a Wednesday to celebrate GF's b'day and was surprised with a $60.00 for two dinner special. It was just perfect. Got to see the sunset change the Sandia into a wonderful red glow from our window seat. Food was wonderful; made this just a great celebration. "Prairie Star metts the criteria for a fine restaurant. Each detail of service and food prep is carefully attended to. The availaility of excellent wines at reasonable price helps make the dining experience hihly pleasant. My wife and I had awild mushroom appetizer which met my standards nicely. The Grouper we both had was prepared well and presented elegantly. With a glass of Austrian White and Washington Pinot Noir as well as excellent Hazelnut Flavored Icecream, the less than a hundred dollar tab was a welcome surprise. Top marks to the staff and owners."

"We used to really enjoy Prairie Star, because they have great Wednesday night deals, a fun wine bar, interesting food items and a great wine list.
We went for Valentine's Day, so there was a prefixed menu, but paid way to much for what we got on that night. The service was alright, atmosphere was fine (except for the cheesy elevator music)and food wasn't bad-but it definitely wasn't memorable. For the amount of money spent, we feel cheated."

"Wonderful scallops. I've also had the lobster which is great too. Good selection of wines. Most of the food has a New Mexican twist which I could do without, but what I had was wonderful. My husband loved it too. He had salmon one night and loved it. Very romantic anniversary dinner."

"Awesome Views from the main dining area. The scallops were cooked perfectly. A great light and flavorful dish served with pancetta, yukon gold rounds and tomatoes. Great staff here and our server was very knowledgeable and went into detail about the wine and sourcing of the food. The apple-fig tart was a good concept but a little too dry and in need of more fruit."

"Have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Food is always fresh and delicious. Wonderful selection of wines.
Dining area has a quiet, peaceful feeling. There is a fantastic view of the mountain from a window table or out on the patio.

"We had a table by the window with a beautiful view of the mountain. The main course portions were small which can be a plus or minus, but the food was very good. The sweet potatoe jalopeno soup of the day was delicious!"
