RockSugar Pan Asian Kitchen
RockSugar Pan Asian Kitchen is the first restaurant of its kind in L.A. An upscale casual destination from eminent restaurateur David Overton and Singapore-raised, New York-trained chef Mohan Ismail (Spice Market, Tabla, Blue Hill), RockSugar showcases the cuisines of Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and India. Drawing upon memories of family meals his mother made, chef Mohan folds in his vast culinary experience to bring together the exhilarating tastes of a half-dozen Southeast Asian nations. Dishes are served Asian family-style to create an atmosphere that encourages sharing & conversation. RockSugar, which takes its name from an ingredient used by Asian chefs, features a full bar with an extensive wine list and exotic cocktails and an onsite bakery where it creates fresh-made desserts that infuse French flair with Asian-influence. "This restaurant was a special treat. The thing that stands out most about Rock Sugar is the impeccable service, from the front desk to the table service to the pickup of take-home items. All of the staff seem to work as a team to make sure patrons feel special.
The crème brulee was the best I've ever had!"

"This place is fine. It's nothing special, but it is not terrible either. The decor is extensive. The service is inattentive and slow. They have a good lunch special for two. If you are going to see a movie at AMC century city mall then it is not a bad option for dinner. I would not go out of my way to go to this restaurant."

"The ambiance in this place is truly unexpected if you are in the Century city mall. Grand entrence, fun bar area and large indoor outdoor seating. It is something that I would expect to see in Vegas because of how grand it is ( in a good way) a must try, and possibly frequent before a movie for an enjoyable date night. The Sake Dragon cocktail is addictive, along with all the pan asian dishes that they offer!"

"I eat at Rock/Sugar several times a month for business lunches. Their prix fixe menu is great. The service is always friendly, the food tasty, the atmosphere lovely and who can resist the crunchy rice and sesame puffs you are greated with when you sit down."

"I've been here many times but brought "foodie" friends from out of town and they loved it! We all ordered separately and then shared, service was fast and friendly, it was a hot day and we sat on the patio which was not as noisy as indoors although not quite as cool. "The most beautiful restaurant in LA, food is very nicely prepared generous portions, the only but is; always check your bill because its the 3 rd time that there is a difference and always in favor of the restaurant, the manager should be more careful with this matter. Once is a true honest mistake, twice perhaps the waiter was not paying attention but 3 times? C'mon check it out!!! Don't you agree?"

"Came for the ambiance, decor and food. Only got ambiance, decor and food. Service is what it would take this place from a 3 or 4 star to 5 stars. Waiter forgot my drink. Was halfway into appetizers until I was finished giving him the benefit of the doubt and asked him for my where's ny drink. Then he said he forgot it at the bar. So it was just sitting there for a good 10 minutes. Cool. Should have asked for another? Idk. He just seemed busy, I didn't feel welcome and we got 2 appetizers, two entrees, and one drink. Food was great though small. I told waiter it was our first time, he didn't bother recommending anything. Whatever. I'll probably come back if I have someone who is into decor. But for service there are plenty other options."

"I took my friend here for his birthday and asked for a dessert at the end. This request was not acknowledged by the restaurant. Also they gave us a table right next to the bar and kitchen and when I asked to be moved the request was again not acknowledged by the hostess. "We tried the chef tasting menu.
Thats a perfect way to tray a bit of this and that.
Portions were "normal" so after the 3 round you already had to fight...so keep space in your stomach ;-)

"This was my first visit to RockSugar. We went for a friend's birthday and we were definitely not disappointed. The service was excellent. The server explained that the meals were served "family style" and suggested that we order an appetizer and at least a couple of entrees. We took her suggestion and there was plenty of food for the three of us. In addition to excellent service and food, the ambience was very terrific. I would definitely recommend RockSugar and will return again soon."

"Having frequented Rock Sugar many times since it's opening, I was very disappointed the last visit. Service was horrible as we waited nearly 25 minutes to order after sitting down. While pork belly appetizer was notable, the rest if the meal was average. From watery pad Thai noodles to dry Chilean sea bass, the restaurant has lost it's mojo. There us too much strong competition in the area to eat an expensive and very less than average meal at Rock Sugar. Rocks are a fitting description if the food quality and sugar is no where in the minds of their servers."

"This restaurant is so beautiful that I couldn't stop taking pictures of it.. The bar was fun. We were seated fairly quickly so our drinks were taken over to the table. The food was excellent and came out in an orderly fashion by very polite and professional staff. Our waitress helen, was most helpful and sweet. She helped in the celebration of my friends birthday.
We had a great time there. This was my 5th time eating at Rocksugar."
