Tom Colicchio’s Craft was awarded three stars by the New York Times and won the prestigious James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant. In 2010, Tom Colicchio won the James Beard Award for Best Chef. Craft is recognized for its commitment to the use of the finest seasonal ingredients sourced from family farms, dayboat fishermen and specialized ranchers. We prepare these pristine ingredients simply in order to showcase the essence of each ingredient. At Craft, Executive Chef James Tracey, Chef de Cuisine Chris Lavey, Pastry Chef Abby Swain and the hospitable staff ask diners to build their own a la carte menu or choose from the seasonal seven-course tasting menu.
"Planned a food-centric weekend to NYC and chose Craft as one of the destinations. Started with the Crispy Bacon and Pickled Ramps which was a mistake. The flavor was excellent but the dish was not what I anticipated. Expected more ramps enhanced with bacon. The fat of the bacon was too heavy and affected the rest of the experience. Rabbit loin was excellent and the gnocchi probably the best I've ever had. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her short rib (though the bacon & ramp dish made it tough to get through) and her risotto was outstanding. The best she said she's ever had. Cocktails were inventive and delicious. We did not have room for dessert."

"I recently dined again at Craft and my experience was just as perfect as each of my previous visits.
The entire staff is amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable, and so accommodating. This first rate hospitality is equally matched by the skill in the kitchen. Every single dish we had was outstanding. Besides laying claim to the best Pomme Puree in the world, the Rabbit, Chicken, and carrots were all absolutely delicious.
A manager was even kind enough to offer me a recipe card for the Pomme Puree. Everyone went above and beyond.
Craft is easily one of the top 5 restaurants in New York City. It is worth a trip for any reason you can come up with!"

"We have been to many "top chef" restaurants in the NY metro area over the years and our experience here was truly enjoyable. Great service from the moment we walked in. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating in all aspects. All of our dishes were fantastic (appetizers, entrees and sides) . The extra nice touches were the complimentary small appetizer and dessert dishes they provided as well as a very tasty banana chip loaf that they gave us as we left the restaurant. Very classy! One of the best things we found was that while the restaurant was full and vibrant, we were actually able to have a normal conversation with our friends due to the great sound acoustics in the restaurant. We will be going back."

"This was my first visit to Craft and I was absolutely delighted with the experience. The ambience was wonderful--big tables and wonderfully decorated--very chic and elegant. I kept telling my dining companions that I never wanted to leave! The service was superb--we were waited on with care and attention but without being smothered. The food was delicious, simply but elegantly presented. The portions were just right. The amuse bouche was a tasty surprise, the bread was fabulous, and the main entrees were marvelous. I had the rabbit loin with fresh asparagus (I thank the waiter for his vegetables recommendation). The dessert was even better. Then as we left, we were given small loaves of banana bread with chocolate chips. Wonderful!"

Not only do have incredible drinks and dishes (have to try the crispy bacon w/ramps if it is still on the menu) and staff, it was mentioned it was my birthday on the reservation and they printed my name on the menu! "Recommended by trip advisor, a group of us for dinner. Immediately realised that the wine prices were outrageous. (Noticed that no-one else in restaurant had bottles of wine on their tables!!) However,service very good and majority of the food was excellent. I had octopus followed by armish chicken, our party had a variety of dishes. No service charge added so gave a tip of $55 which the waiter complained about directly to us as this was equivalent to 10%. We all felt that this place is over priced and over rated."

"We went to Craft to celebrate my father's birthday, and it was an excellent experience all around (even for my grandparents in their 80s). The ambiance was festive (not too uptight like some nice restaurants where you feel like you have to be hushed) but still quiet enough for our older family members to be able to hear and participate in the conversation. The food was AMAZING (as always - we've been before), and the service was excellent. Thanks, Craft, for a wonderful evening. Dad says it was the best birthday ever!"

"Food is ok, not special. Served in separate serving dishes for you to then move over onto your plate by whatever means available (spoon, knife, forklift), resulting in waiters constantly hovering about to remove the empty service dishes in the middle of your meal, once you'd served yourself. Our party included four elderly parents, and our waiter was impatient with them, even tapping the table in front of one of them as if to say, pay attention. Our table was situated under an air conditioning vent, which meant that not only were we cold but the food instantly became cold upon being delivered to the table-not news to the restaurant, which provided pashminas to the ladies, but our waiter argued with us when we told him the food was cold."

"We came in on our last night in NYC (visiting from the Pacific Northwest) The hostess, the manager and the wait staff paid attention to every detail and gave us special attention. "Went for a birthday dinner with my parents and it was absolutely amazing. One of the best dinners I've had in the city thus far. Scallops were cooked to perfection and every waitstaff that I came into contact with (from the hostess to the person who poured my water) wished me a happy birthday. "We ordered the tasting menu & I was greatly surprised by the portion size. I am used to smaller portions for the tasting & while my husband was able to finish each course, I sadly had to stop eating most of my courses in order to make it to the end!
The short ribs were THE BEST I've ever had! I believe that was my favorite course!"

"I would recommend NOT attending this restaurant as it is far from TOP CHEF quality. If the owners of the restaurant knew the level of service and quality they would rethink their strategy. The service was slow and awkward for most of our section of the restautant. When our appetizers where served the menus where not taken, so we put them a the side of an already small table. When our main course arrived, we recieved our sides first and had such a gap in service that we finished our sides before our entree arrived. When the entree arived, both of our dishes were not hot. When we advised the server the they brought our dishes to be heated. All that was done was they resauced the dishes. They came back cold again."

"Unfortunately, half the courses in the tasting menu ($130 per person) were either lackluster or sub par: Bland and boring or far too salty. One might do better choosing from the main entrees and side dishes. Or ask the excellent staff for a recommendation. The ambiance is good and the service excellent."

"Fantastic dining experience. The entire wait staff was extremely attentive and made us feel very special especially since it was a celebratory dinner. The food was great. We had the american wagyu culotte and various sides included bok choy, mashed potatoes, risotto, and flava beans. The wagyu was cooked exactly how I wanted (medium rare) although a little salty for my taste and the mashed potatoes were deliciously creamy. I highly recommend the risotto - great flavor and cooked to perfection. Enjoyed all the desserts especially the Chocolate Pretzel Tart."

"With a stellar wine list and impeccable service, Craft stands shoulders above the rest. My one small complaint would be the rather too concentrated sauces used with the meat dishes that resulted in rather too salty to eat morel mushrooms with the aged beef. I am not a big fan of over salted food which I find endemic in restaurant culture."

"I was in NY for a short birthday visit and have always wanted to try Craft. Well it was great! Our wait staff took great care of us, and when they found out it was my birthday, gave me a cute birthday cake, that was delicious. Our choices varied from the agnolotti to the bacon with ramps for first course, then rabbit, wagyu and short ribs for main dishes accompanied by gnocchi, risotto, cauliflower and Swiss chard, all were excellent. The for dessert we had read the reviews and agreed to try the donuts, and pan perdue. That was all wrapped together by great beer and cocktail selections. I would love to go back and will make it a point to should I ever be in the area again. Thank you Craft!"

"NOM! NOM! Yum. Craft is worth every penny we spent enjoying a lovely evening of culinary wonderment. Having watched Tom Collicheo on Top Chef, I felt pretty confident this wouldn't be a typical celebrity chef experience. Happily the food delivered in addition to the whole experience.
The dining room is gorgeous with leather accents on the walls along with wood and industrial style lighting. My husband and I commented several times that we were able to hear each other perfectly even though the joint was jam packed.

"I booked for our 7th Anniversary and asked for private, quiet seating. Somehow, that meant to somebody "right by the front door and next to two tables of 8." "I went here with my husband as a gift from my father. Absolutely one of the best meals of my life! The staff was amazing and attentive. "Arguably the best meal I can recall having - anywhere. The pan seared / broiled halibut was phenomenal and the wine listing is monumental. We went for our anniversary and they really went above and beyond to make it memorable including a special menu with our names mentioned and an anniversary desert plate. "We decided to give Craft a try on our recent visit to NYC. The dinner was to be a birthday celebration dinner on our last night in town. Our entire experience was fantastic. I had let the restaurant know it was my husband's birthday and they had a special menu printed for him and he was able to bring it home. Each dish was fantastic- the flavors were perfect. The pastry chef sent out a small layer cake along with our dessert, very nice touch. The entire staff made us feel special and our entire experience was fantastic. The extra special muffin on our way out was wonderful. We WILL be back!!"
