"I have been coming to the Old Mill for many many years and love the setting and the service, and usually the food. On this particular occasion the food was not up to par and certainly not worth the money. I was disappointed. I will be back for the brunch and tea which have always been good. The service was great- as usual."

"We found the Old Mill to be quite pricy. Too expensive for what we recieved in return.
Disappoint with the Friday Night DJ and dance. It was pretty much all the same music with the same beat.
Will be a long time before we return"

"Loved the entertainment! Glory Days is a fun time with great music. The people attending are all BRUUUUUUCE fans so lots to chat about! Our table was added into the middle of the floor where it NEVER should have been...it was like we were an afterthought. The waiters bumped into my chair at least 10 time during dinner. Not their fault, there was no room for them to manouveur around the "afterthoughts" That's how both my husband and I felt. Fortunately, we had good-natured peole on both sides of us who didn't mind putting up with a little inconvenience because we were listening to Springsteen songs."

"Although we've dined at the Old Mill before, on this occasion the meal was one of the best my wife and I have had anywhere including previous meals at the Old Mill.
We were not at all rushed, allowed to order and enjoy our drinks and order our meals when we were ready.
The entrees were well prepared and presented and the taste was wonderful. The scalloped potatoes with bacon were a delight. Although my wife didn't feel hungry enough to order a salad, the very tasty (think one of the dressings was a chutney) and well-presented salad was brought to our table with two extra plates, and my wife couldn't resist. Same with dessert.
The staff were very attentive without being intrusive.
A wonderful dining experience throughout"

"Very enjoyable entertainment and ambiance. I would rate this restaurant as fine dining but find the servers not up to par. They are very friendly and accomodating but not polished (etiquette is lacking). Would definitely go back however, great night out!"

"The dining room is very dark, feeling more like a dungeon. The Old Mill in general could use a major face lift. The buffet lunch was good value but we had to ask if they were going to put out more food, e.g. roast beef when it was only 1 pm.
I had been there for dinner about 2 months ago and it was not a pleasant experience. The waiter was very rude, our beef was overdone and when we complained to him he walked away and another server brought us our bill.
We only returned to The Old Mill for the buffet lunch when we were invited by friends to celebrate my birthday.
On a positive note, being able to make a reservation online is a great idea."

"We had our wedding reception at the Old Mill in 1988 and mutually agreed that our 25th anniversary dinner should be celebrated there too.
The Old Mill does not have the variety or selection of larger smorgasbord style restaurants but the overall presentation, quality, and rich taste of the food is far superior.
We go there once every few years and only for special occasions so for us it remains the "go to" location when a noteworthy event takes place in our family."

"my wife Shirley and I enjoyed our 50th wedding anniversary at the Old Mill we danced to the big band sound of Tommy Dorsey tunes ate a lovely meal and spent our night at the Hotel in a suite fit for royalty....a very lovely upgrade at no extra charge.... thank you so much....I've been dancing there for forty five years from my days as an Arthur Murray Dance teacher and I've brought many groups of twenty or more there as we did at other locals such as the Ports of Call, The Walker House with its Franz Josef room so all in all my wife and I recommend the Old Mill to one and all...thank you."

"My family and I enjoyed the Sunday dinner buffet. A variety of fresh salads, soup, cheese, fruit, and hot food were available. There was plenty to choose from, even for a picky 3 year old (5 and under eat free). There were three large tables full of a variety of freshly prepared salads (pasta, grains, and veggies), a table with soup, cheese & breads, and a lovely buffet of hot foods and carving stations. The dessert table was lovely as well.
Our waiter was excellent and very attentive, even with busy service. The hostess attempted to act snooty and aloof, she seemed a bit displeased to be there.
As a family dining with a very well behaved 3 year old, it's great to find a family friendly environment in a nicer setting."

"We were seated promptly in a bright section of the restaurant, which we appreciated. Dimmer areas of the restaurant not so good for older diners. The staff who attended our table were very efficient, and the woman in particular very friendly and engaging. The food was excellent with a good variety, and the person staffing the carvery was warm and personal. We were celebrating a special occasion and this was just the place to do it. It did get a little noisy when more people started to arrive, but there's not much you could do about that, I don't think."

"Overall I love the Old Mill. I have been there many times. The entertainment was the best I had seen there. I happen to know one of the people in the group but I am making this statement strictly unbiased. The whole dining room was captured in the excitement of the music and dancing. Clearly they did not want it to stop. I enjoyed the food and the location of our table was very convenient for viewing the entertainment and getting up to dance. The afternoon manager was very personable.We were four ladies celebrating our various birthdays and really enjoyed ourselves. We stayed in the inn that night and wanted to go for a night cap but clearly that is not offered at this location. We had to get room service to bring wine to our room."

"Attended the Vinyl 95.3 live broadcast dance on March 22. Had a great time and would come back for this dance again. Last fall we attended a "Groove" night and it was not good. The difference between the two is night and day. The music for the Vinyl dance and the DJ interaction with the crowd was so much better, it really can't be compared. The music and the DJ for the "Groove" night was terrible."

"WE hadn't been to the Old Mill for maybe 6 years or so. We were still thrilled with its ambience & character. The service was excellent, especially the warm greeting at the entrance to the dining room. We enjoyed the Fleetwood Mac tribute band- they were five star. Please continue to book quality entertainment.

"The Old Mill really is a lovely place for a week-day lunch. Great ambience and good food. We decided to try the Wednesday brunch, having been told by a server that the food selection is of a better quality and more varied than Tuesday's, hence the higher price. We did find the food to be more varied but of the same quality and not worth the extra expense. We will continue to enjoy lunch on Tuesdays."

"When we arrived the atmosphere was great, quiet and sunny, and looked out to the courtyard. Within 10 minutes, two groups showed up to eat their meals (buffet) and conduct two independent meetings. Suddenly we in a conference room. The room became noisy and unpleasant. The romantic lunch for two was completely undermined. Not likely to return again."

"We went to the Old Mill for dinner and dancing on one of the big band concert nights.
Pros: Great old building, good band, big dance floor.
Cons: Service was bordering on rude (This made my guests uncomfortable and given that we were celebrating a birthday, this was unfortunate.) Only one vegetarian choice of entree and no flexibility. Also, I can't eat garlic and I was told anything can be made without garlic. I like mushrooms, so I ordered the Chicken with Red Pepper Gnocchi & Woodland Mushrooms. What I received was a plain baked chicken leg and vegetables. Not the same dish and not worth $26, but didn't want to spoil the mood further by complaining to the staff."

"The food and wine is much too pricey... and when paying, one of our party was charged twice as the machine ran out of paper during his transaction.
The music was initially fine then became progressively much too loud... we tried to ask the DJ to reduce the volume but he was safe under his head phones so did nothing.

"If you don't already know, the Old Mill really is an old mill. The dining room is beautiful with lots of dark woods and stone floor (a bit uneven). On Sunday evenings, there is a buffet which we tried for the 1st time last night. There was a great selection from cold lobster to mussels to roast beef and lamb. The food was delicious and with the variety, you can't go home hungry. The service was quite good, with our plates cleared very quickly. You definitely need a reservation since it was very busy. This restaurant is a favourite of ours and we will continue to go back."

"Excellent presentation and portion size for each dish. The beef cheeks were incredible. We went on a night when they had big band music and dancing. Sitting on the side of the dance floor kept the volume lower than if we were right in front. A thoroughly enjoyable evening."

"My family and I have been to the Old Mill a few times, mostly for brunches. It's the ideal restaurant for everyone and the atmosphere was perfect for my deaf/autistic daughter - she was comfortable. The architecture of the building is superb. The salads and desserts were delicious and the main meals of chicken and steak were enticing. We have been to the Old Mill for wedding functions and I would highly recommend it especially for the ambience and service. Not to mention the Spa - all professional people. Thank you."

"We have been to the Old Mill several times and this is the first time we have experienced poor service in the dining room. The waiter appeared to being running to keep up with his tables. He brought us our desert menu at 8:04 and only returned when we finally flagged him down at 9:00 to take our desert and coffee order.
We were here in December for a groove night and really enjoyed ourselves, however the music this time around was not as good and we found ourselves leaving early."
