Standing out like a fresh tattoo on a burly forearm, The Vault Restaurant serves mouth-watering martinis, delicious wines and fabulous food. Once inside, you will be greeted by an eclectic, lively room, a diverse menu and tantalizing cocktails, including “the best Caesar in town.” First built in 1948, The Vault retains many of its original features, including the concrete bank vault.
Outside the private vault, guests are seated in the restaurant’s lounge or dining room, surrounded by an eclectic décor, including bicycle frames, ornate mirrors, and a female statue residing above the bar! The funky style combined with live jazz or blues music and you’ve got yourself a hip and quirky restaurant, with a cool, laissez-faire vibe. The Vault’s diverse menu features Northwest cuisine, offering dishes that are simple, yet rich in flavour.

"Its was ok, I wasn't overly impressed. I was anxious to try the restaurant cause of the story of a bank, now being a restaurant and the convenience of the location. But the tables were too close together and the waitress was very friendly but I felt that we were rushed through our meal. Especially for the price of everything!!
Nothing to spectacular....wouldnt recommend it."

"Went to celebrate my birthday at the Vault and once again had a great dinner! Their Ceasar Salad is so wonderful and the fact they will split it for you so generously is a treat.
We have been there so often and keep going back due to the service, the food and the value.

"we were nervous when we arrived as we were led to our reserved table right at the foot of the small stage just as a man arrived and started tuning his guitar. However, once he started to play the noise level was not overbearing infact you hardly head anything from the stage, most of the music was filtering out of the speakers up near the ceiling so conversation was still perfectly possible. The food was fantastic and the dessert was amazing. The wine suggested for dinner was beautiful, although it did arrive while we were still sipping our predinner drinks and eating the appies. All in all it was a fabulous night out for our anniversary."

"The curry penne was so delicious and the chocolate peanut butter cake was amazing! The service was not great. She didn't tell us the special or bring us bread. Overall it was great! The awesome food made us forget the service"

"Definitely a place for foodies! The food has been fantastic every singe time I come here, always cooked perfectly, nothing is weighed down with too much sauce or over-powered with seasonings. Everything is always fresh. I really like that they seem to use local products, including their pop selections. A very unique and relaxing vibe in the restaurant as well. Also, they staff is very friendly and welcoming too without being overbearing.
For a sure a neighbourhood gem in the heart of Cloverdale."

"I have visited the vault many times because it is local. The food
Is good and I like the drink selection but the last few times our servers have not been good.
I was there with a group of 6 on a Friday and it took 20 minutes just to get a drink, I think they should be better prepared on a Friday evening. Our waitress also got our drinks wrong."

"Server was pleasant and checked back regularly. The food specials - flat iron steak and halibut were very good as was the braised ribs which is a regular menu item. The peanut butter pie was outstanding! Live music was a nice touch. Parking was a bit of an issue as it seemed busy in the neighborhood that night. Decor is very cool! We would go back and also recommend to friends. Fun evening."

We had DELICIOUS food, served by a STELLAR server and the bartender mixed some great cocktails too. I had the scallops and prawns salad, and friends had the stuffed pork, a striploin steak, and the tiger prawns. The food was rich and flavourful. The portions were generous and our service was fast, perhaps because it was a quiet Monday night. The ambience is a great mix - you could go on a date there, or meet friends - it's very comfortable and we found street parking quite easily on a weeknight. I recommend it - you should go!"

"We have been to the Vault many times and have enjoyed it immensely. However,the portobello mushroom ravioli was not good. I tried to enjoy it but could not even get more than three bites down. The sauce tasted like jarred Ragu sauce and the artichokes in the sauce were not good. The waitress was fantastic and did her best to help and did not charge us for that particular meal. The braised shortribs were delicious. Chili chicken tenders were a tiny bit overcooked but still tasty with the aioli. We also had the lettuce wrap appetizer and although I would not order it again there was nothing wrong with it. It was just not my favoutite."

"Great food, good value, so-so service. Why do they have a musician? He couldn't be heard properly and people talked louder to overcome the tunes. Made it too noisy for comfortable conversation."

"We have been here before as it is in the neighborhood . Unfortunately, the section we were in was overwhelmed due to a party of 14-16. The young lady was struggling and the chef and bartender were slammed. She was smart enough to slide our entrees in and grab the drinks herself. But we skipped an appie and first because of the crowd. It was a birthday celebration for us so could have been better. Our bread came half way through the main.
I did phone ahead to remind them but that seemed to have been lost.

The server also should not refer to females old enough to be her grandmother as " miss".
Service quality and quantity is an on going problem at this location . High turnover? Poor training?"

"THE VAULT IS SLIPPING IN SERVICE AND QUALITY OF FOOD.
I requested a window seat when I booked on-line for a 5:00 reservation. However on arrival the waitress seated us beside a long-table of party-goers, even though window seats where available. I again requested a window seat which was later granted.
In the past the food has been exceptional. This time my steak was fatty, too rare and not tender. Also I requested extra veggies in lieu of potatoes which was NOT granted. The veggy serving was quite small in fact and with a good portion of my steak being fat (which I cut off), I left feeling quite hungry."

"The place was very crowded and loud so conversation was almost impossible with my dinner partner. Food-wise, my seared ahi tuna was melt-in-your-mouth perfect but the seasonal veggies that accompanied were very over-cooked. Also, my dining partner ordered the 9 oz New York and his veggies were the same as mine (over-cooked). When he asked for a baked potato, the waitress told him that garlic mashed was his only option. She was sweet but the high noise level (due to the very loud, mediocre live music) made it very hard for her to do her job properly...If that had been my first visit, I don't think I would recommend or go back. Fortunately, I am hooked on their ahi tuna. LOL"
