Atlanta chef, Jay Swift, brings his passion and creative interpretation of seasonal comfort food to 4TH & Swift. Occupying the space that was formerly the engine room to Southern Dairies, the restaurant retains many of the original elements. Exposed brick, concrete and beams are updated with contemporary accents such as warm woods, rich fabrics and brushed white metals. At 4th & Swift, Chef/Owner Jay Swift has created a new level in the evolution of the dining scene here in Atlanta. Jay’s culinary focus is one based on the advancement of Southern cuisine; for Jay Southern is less about reinventing regional classics than inventing new ones using regional and local products.

"I had no idea what to expect when making the reservation, and my experience definitely surpassed my expectations. The restaurant is open, but has an intimate feeling once seated. The food was well prepared and an appetizer and entree was just the right amount of food. The waiter was very pleasant, and we never wanted for anything."

"This was my first time eating here and it was great. Ask for a booth when you make the reservation if there will be 2 of you. I would definately go back. Try the Smores."

"Eclectic menu; the mushroom ravioli and the veal schnitzel entrees were both good. Portions are moderate sized. All sides are a la carte - a little pricey for these, but they were tasty. The deserts are definitely out of the ordinary and excellent."

"We had the brussel sprout salad with reduced apple cider and fish fingers as starters. Both were delicious. I am not a fan of brussel sprouts because of their bitterness, but these were only mildly so, and tender crisp. My friend had tilefish and I had scallops for our entree. Both of the meats were well prepared. I would have wanted a less creamy sauce with the scallops, but the taste was fine. I wanted to try the three little pig entree, but both my friend and I were put off by the pork belly. Our waiter disappeared for a good 40 minutes of the meal, which took away from the experience. The chef, however, did come by our table and seemed genuinely interested in our experience."

"The food was excellent, although the kitchen was a tad on the slow side. The service was very attentive and knowledgable. The wine list was suprisingly diverse and reasonably priced. A cool ambiance good for a romantic or business dinner."

"My mother always told me that anticipation is always better than participation, but not in the case of 4th & Swift. I had been anticipating dining at this restaurant for months, and it met every expectation! The food was exceptional. For starters, my Mom ordered the brussel sprouts and I had the rissoto. Both were exceptional, but the brussel sprouts were really out of this world! Truly a delectable delight! For our main entrees, my Mom had fish, and I ordered the scallops. I certainly ordered the better dish, although she enjoyed hers. The scallops were infused with butter and burst with taste in my mouth. We had smores and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Overall, the service was superb. Top 5 best restaurant experience ever."

"Wonderful dinner! From the first course to the last the food was wonderful. We especially enjoyed the mussels and brussel sprouts. Very cool restaurant! Our server was very knowledgeable about the food and the wine list. This was my second dining experience at 4th & Swift and I would happily return again. We went on a Tuesday night and the restaurant was at most 35% full so I can't truly speak to the noise level. The food is expensive so if that's keeping you away look out for the next restaurant week they participate in and try it out!"

"I love the cocktails at 4th & Swift. Your mixologists really have it mastered. The blend of ingredients all meld together to form perfection.I had the tequila cocktail laced with maple syrup...terrific.
The food was very good and the service was non obtrusive and attentive. I ordered the crispy brussel sprout app which could have been cooked a tad more and then I had the mussels. The mussels sauce was better than the mussels themselves. The mussels almost had the barnyard taste that pushes them over. Dessert was superb. I ordered the sticky toffee cake (bread pudding). Truly amazing texture, taste and perfect with my coffee. I was never asked if I wanted any more coffee... ah the little things. Thank you , I would come back."

"I am more into old-fashioned grandeur and elegance rather than chic and hip, but seedy old warehouses. Since the closing of the Dining Room at the Ritz Carlton there is simply no grandeur and elegance left in Atlanta. Moreover, you usually have to dine with a very slovenly crowd.
However, I really like this place and it ranks in my top three. In a town where there is very little of interest on most menus, the food here is both distinct, inventive and excellent. Management is very thoughtful and service is just fine."

"this restaurant is still a secret, i'm sure, otherwise we would have been there sooner. the food was excellent. The wine & martini's perfect. The dessert's too die for,and the service impicable. This was better then the woodfire grill. I am sure we will be dining there frequently."

"I enjoyed it. Both of my experiences there have been good, but not outstanding. Some food items were a bit cold and our seat was a bit drafty. The doughnut dessert was the best part of the meal. Yum! I still don't think they deliver on the high price entrees. My hubby got the steak for $37 and it had to be returned for being too cold. The scallops were good but could have been warmer."

"I had looked into the restaurant when they first opened and put it on my list. So when the opportunity to go arose, I was very excited. It definitely met up to the excellent reviews that I had read and to my expectations. Service was great and the food YUM-O! We are not huge eaters so we decided on a small plate each and one large plate. All of the selections put very interesting combinations together. I had the crab cake and my partner the boneless short ribs. Both were excellently prepared and served. The large plate we decided on was "Three little piggies" which lived up to the rave reviews that I had read. The rolls are to die for here!!! I would love to have them every night...and I am not a regular bread fanatic."

"4th & Swift never fails to deliver on delicious, creative small & large plates, knowledgeable wait staff, clever cocktails (the Earl Grey infused gin? Fantastic!), and hostesses that remember what coat you were wearing! We live in Chamblee and a trip to 4th & Swift is worth the drive - even during Friday night traffic. Kudos to the team!"

"The food was terrific. An extremely varied menu, and some very interesting food couplings (cauliflower & swordfish!; brussel sprouts & apple). The atmosphere was very subdued and there was no presense of loud sound (typical of the warehouse type restaurant). The only down side was the service. The waitstaff was practically non-existant and dinner took 3 hours to be served. Fortunately we were not in a hurry."

"4th & Swift is one of those unique dining places where old meets new and the eccletic atmosphere is truly a wonderful experience. Not only does Chef Jay Swift prepare and present his food offerings in such a outstanding way, our service in the bar area this particular evening was one of the best we have experienced in our many outings in the city in quite some time. Special kudos to our server - Prayor - she was fantasitic in her warm welcome as well as her efficient and constant attention given to our high bar table of three."

"Decided on 4th & Swift for my girlfriend's birthday. They met every service expectation. I requested that the staff wish her a Happy Birthday, as she enjoys the attention. Upon presenting my name and reservation time, the hostess turned and wished a Happy Birthday by name. Our server, both upon greeting us and at the end of the night, did the same. The food was very good. I thought the menu had a good variety of options and was appropriately priced.

The only thing I would have changed was our seating location. I like the two person booths, but they are located on the backside of the bar. The bar patrons' conversations carried at times. To top off the night, Owner/Chef Jay Swift stopped at our table to check on us. Kudos!"

"The food was very good. Had the short ribs for an appetizer...excellent. My husband had the swordfish and I had the scallops for our entrees. Both very good, although I thought the scallops dish was a little richer than I normally prefer. Our server was excellent!"

"We loved the small plates (cheeses and the Brussels sprouts and apple salad), but the entrees themselves were merely average. I had the duck breast, which tasted richly but was of a gummy consistency. My wife had the "three little pigs," which was an above-average dish in flavor and texture, but marred somewhat by the dry sausage."

"The food was amazingly fresh. We both had seafood, and the dishes (mussels, scallops, and fish special) were all very good. Since it was not very busy, the service was on target, as would be expected; she also knew the menu well, and made good recommendations. Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert, so I can't comment on that. The ambiance is very nice, and perfect for couples: request the small intimate booths for two, if you can."

"We wanted to go out and have a special evening and weren't disappointed. We were seated at a booth which was quite intimate. The risotto and the beef apps were yummy. Our main courses consisted of the duck and the "Three Little Pigs" which is a staple on their menu and they were both fabulous. After eating both of thoses courses we didn't have much room for dessert....needless to say we had a great time and would definitely visit again!"

"We had a wonderful drink at the bar with a great bartender and one of their superb special cocktails. We then were seated in a romantic alcove since there were two of us and were immediately met by the waiter. The menu changes daily on some items, so we decided to try a few of their small plates; all were excellent. I had a large plate, The Three Little Pigs, which was also memorable. The wine list was varied and reasonable. The service was great and the head chef, Jay Swift, even came by out table."

"Excellent!! We had split the lamb and had a few apps, all were wonderful.

The bartender was the best, he put the lamb on two plates for us and even brought a bithday cake out for my date with 'Happy Birthday" written on the bowl (I didnt even have to ask him, I just told him it was my dates 40th birthday). He also kept our drinks full the entire time which is a tell tale sign of a great server. Gosh what was that bartenders name, he really was spot on!

"Overall it was good, but I ordered one of their risotto dishes and they served me the wrong one and it was not very good (no risotto should have raisins in it). "I've been wanting to eat here for a while, and it was pretty much what I expected it to be. Great seasonal food. There were a couple things that I thought needed work. Our shrimp were a little overcooked, and the pork shoulder confit was a little dry. But our entrees were great, no complaints there. No issues to not make me return. One thing I didn't expect was that we all left full. Three of us shared two appetizers, each had an entree, and shared a dessert, and it was more than enough food so portion size was fantastic. Great restaurant, great spot."

"Our experience at 4th & Swift was amazing. Our server, Gabrielle, was phenomenal- he was very knowledgeable about the wine list and helped us pick a great selection. The food was out of this world. We shared a few appetizers, had the mussels and crab cake, both were on par with some of the best we've ever had. We also had the grouper, duck and cod for entrees which again were outstanding. Jay came around to the tables, which is always a very classy gesture on the part of the chef. Dessert was great as well. My personal favorite was the s'more, with graham cracker ice cream, flour-less chocolate cake and scorched marshmallows was so good I nearly licked the plate."

"Our dining experience @ 4th was exceptional from start to finish. We ordered several appetizers from the bar menu & fought over the last bite of each. Our entrees were delicious and the perfect portion - nothing was smothered in sauce and everything was very fresh. Our waiter (chris) brought a special little dessert for my friends fortieth birthday which was the perfect ending to a perfect meal. Even though we took our time & maybe stayed a little too long, Chris never made us feel rushed. "AFter all the great reviews and talk about 4th and Swift, I was really looking forward to a wonderful experience, and was sadly under-whelmed. The ambience was terrific, specialty drinks were great, and wine servings generous. The service was amazing as well. Wish every restaurant in Atlanta had such great service. The food, however, was not terrific. I felt sad that the Sapelo clams gave up thier lives for my chowder, since it was too salty to eat. The other meals at our table were just OK as well. "My wife and I dined early on a Saturday night here and were thoroughly impressed with the entire experience! Service by Lauren was outstanding...very friendly and helpful, though not intrusive. The butternut squash soup and cheese plate were both delicious starters. My wife was pleasantly surprised at the brussel sprout appetizer and I loved the Oyster and mushroom risotto. Her crab cake was very good, but she's a native of the Chesapeake so it's a tough standard to meet! I had the "three little pigs" entree and while the pork loin and belly were outstanding, the pork sausage was somewhat dry. Perhaps avoiding slicing it open too long before plating would preserve what should be a very juicy creation. Try the Petit Syrah half bottle! Great!"

"Nice place. Went to it during a conference visit in Atlanta, mostly due to its 15 points in Gayot, which was an accurate rating. The wine list is smallish, but well thought out with lots of interesting bottles at reasonable prices. The food was all good. I had the "Three Little Pigs" as my entree, since it seemed to be rated the restaurant's signature dish. I thought it was quite tasty, but not so much so as to qualify as a signature dish. I had the short ribs for an appetizer, which was delicious, though the meat was not as soft and succulent as I've had elsewhere. The service was very good without being overwhelming. I would be happy to go back again and sample a few other items off the menu."

"I was really looking forward to having dinner at 4th & Swift, however was disappointed with a few thing. Our table was not ready when we arrived on time, however when we sat down, 20% of the table were open. The place is nice inside. I like the atmosphere and the service was good. The reason I gave 2 stars overall, was the flavor of the food. I had the Duck, my wife had the scallops and they were just OK. I hate to compare others to somewhere like ecco, but I naturally do. I didn't think the food stood out, and that is why we go to restaurants. They had a great bourbon selection. I would go again if someone was paying for it, however I can see spending $200 for 3 people if the food was just OK."

"We had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner at 4th & Swift. We had an early reservation (6:15) and it was incredibly quiet. The service was excellent; our server helpful and the sommelier didn't treat us like wine idiots (which we basically are). They warmly welcomed our two teenage kids. We will definitely be back!"

"Great ambiance, service and food. On a rainy, windy Christmas Eve, everyone from Valet to hostess to server exuded service. Especially notable was Joseph, our server, who provided just the right level of service including having our car waiting for us when we exited the building - no waiting in the rain. The sustainable menu offers a variety of creative and tasty choices, the room is beautifully decorated and comfortably quiet. I highly recommend trying it for yourself."

"Four of us dined at 4th & Swift and everyone in the group enjoyed the meal. We started off with the meats and cheeses and they were excellent. We all agreed it seems to be one of the few places where it is worth ordering. This appetizer is accompanied by small add-ons such as mustards, pickles, apples, and raisins that are a nice touch.
The crab cake appetizer was good and the risotto with fried oysters and mushrooms was also very good. Though, while appreciated, it should be noted that the risotto is a very generous portion.
Four different entrees were ordered: lamb, steak, "3 little pigs" and the bass. All of the entrees were at least "good" with the lamb and three little pigs standing out."

"My group--The Culinary Club visits a different restaurant each month. We truly have the ability to compare different eateries!I found the service great--all the way from the valet, to hostess to the server. The bar staff was good as well.The setting and interior decorations were contemporary and pleasing.The only issue: this is a loud restaurant. I suspect the concrete surroundings just bounce the sound off the walls. We were seated next to a loud table of 8. There are restaurants that are louder, but this one was in the top 5 of the loudest restaurants we have dined in over the last 9 yrs. The decibels make it hard to have dinner conversation without yelling! Which continues the cycle of loudness.However, I will return."

"I was a little disappointed given the reviews that I had read. I had the skate wing which was very greasy and too rich to finish. My friend had the duck and was very happy. The server was very pleasant, but never asked how the food was and the table was cleared before she returned or she would have noticed that I did not eat but about a 1/4 of my meal. For the price, there are much better restaurants in Atlanta."

"We dined very early to catch a theater performance, and we requested to be out the door by a certain time, the waitress was very attentive and went out of her way, asked for our valet ticket so she can get the car ready while we're completing payment, and the car was waiting for us at the door, there were very few diners at 6 PM so the place was quiet however the tables are arranged close to each other in an open room, so I wonder about privacy and noise if the place is full. the waitress gave excellent service, very knowledgeable about the menu, and confident in her recommendations, the martini was excellent, the Charleston wreck fish was cooked to perfection, and the caramel pudding sinful, I'd like to return to try the other items."

"My experience at 4th & Swift was quite mediocre. My assessment of the service as fair was quite generous, as my waitress was clearly making only the most superficial effort to be hospitable. For example, after we received our entrees, she came to the table and asked how everything was. I began to respond but when I looked up she was already four steps away from the table. As far as the food was concerned, it was hit or miss. I had the duck, which was good but not great, and the portion was very very small. My date, on the other hand, had the halibut, which was a good sized portion and quite delicious."

"My husband ate the sweetbread appetizer that he thought was good, along with a vegetable plate. I ate scallops that were delicious, but the greens got stuck in my braces. The wine was delicious as well. Our wait person was very knowledgeable and helpful. Overall a great dining experience."

"Disappointing is the best way to summarize our experience. Food was not very good. Service was adequate. Ambiance was awful. The restaurant seating places patrons very close together which is uncomfortable and makes it impossible to have a quiet, intimate conversation. Will not be going back."

"Our meal was incredible! I have been there several times for cocktails as I like the atmosphere, but this was my first experience dining. I had the fluke with Parmesan risotto, Brussel sprouts, veal meatballs, and finished with the sticky toffee pudding which was out of this world. Our waitress was very informative and steered us toward all the right things."

"The food and service was excellent. They have a great setup and the atmosphere is great for dates and special friend/family occasions. "The ambience and service were great. The food was pretty disappointing. The crab cake and shrimp appetizers were fairly flavorless although well cooked. I had the fluke entree. The fish was well cooked, but the risotto was essentially just watery rice. My dining partner had the lamb which was well cooked as well, but the potatoes were overly sweet and the greens were overseasoned."
