"If you're looking for a unique dining experience, this is the place to go. They have a very eclectic menu - we did the Tayim price fix and got to try a little bit of everything. I highly recommend the crispy lamb tongue and seabass crudo. We ordered the duck hearts as well - and while the meat was of good texture, it didn't have a ton of flavor. We had the ground lamb and ground duck for dinner and both were fantastic. My only complaint is the wine list is EXTREMELY overpriced. We ordered a "reasonably" priced wine for $68 and enjoyed it quite a bit - so we looked up the price later and it was under $20 usually!! I know there's a huge markup for alcohol, but I couldn't believe the price difference."

Hummus and salatim, all different and tasty. Especially loved the Hummus and the Laffa bread.
Cauliflower was a little too salted for me, but fine for my companiera.
Lamb's tongue just a little too crispy for me - almost like bacon. I would have liked to appreciate more of the softness of tongue. I like crispness in general, but I had to cultivate deep presence to tune in to the tongue essence.

"First, I have to thank Anthony Bourdain for turning me onto this place. After watching the lamb shoulder on my TV screen, I knew it was on my bucket list. Our entire table got the chef's tasting menu for the lamb shoulder and we're so glad we did.
For the main course, out came the whole lamb shoulder. It was brined for 3 days and then slow roasted. The meat was so tender they just gave you a pair on tongs to pull the meat off the bones. The brining really brought out a unique flavor that I never had before. By far the best lamb I've ever had. We barely made a dent in it and probably had about 3 lbs of meat that we took to go.
Overall, a great meal and plan to return if I come to Philly again."

"My husband and I went to Zahav this past weekend for his birthday. Besides having to wait 10 minutes past our reservation for a table, we loved it there! The food was excellent and so was the service. I would recommend doing the tasking menu ($34 pp). You get to try lots of different dishes that way. I recommend the fried cauliflower, the hanger steak and the hummas! SO GOOD and very reasonably priced."

We've been coming to your restaurant since you opened. We were very dismayed on Wednesday night when it came to ordering wine. We are collectors and have a cellar of nearly 1300 bottles and always enjoy the diverse list you present at your restaurant. Unfortunately on Wednesday you were nearly completely out of wine. After ticking down more than SIX different choices, we had to "settle" for what you had left. And, in the end we had to order three DIFFERENT wines because you had no additional inventory on each. Who is buying your wine? And, to hear the waiter and sommelier tell us this excuse again and again that "our new order arrives each Thursday" was insulting to say the least!"

"Overall this place is solid. Most of the dishes we tried were good. Really liked duck hearts appetizer. Plate of meze and hummus with the warm bread was good and filling. The food doesn't seem to match the space or the music selection. But it worked for me at that time. It just seems busy and happening. I believe the chef himself was actually in the kitchen that day, which is always cool to see."

"Our visit to Zahav was to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had a great time. We were expecting a more traditional atmosphere , but it was more upbeat. We were surprised by the 80's club music, but that added to our experience. The menu was a bit adventurous, hearts and cheeks not our thing, but we both found items that would be perfect for our tastes.
We absolutely loved the hummus, we had two different kinds, the traditional and the Turkish. We ended up ordering the same dishes for our "mezze" course & our server suggested trying some different options to better our experience, but being our first visit kept with them.
It was a great evening & we will be back - possibly for drinks and more hummus at the bar."

"We arrived on time for our 8pm reservation but they didn't have a table ready right away so we had to wait about 15 minutes to get the table something that didn't even bother us and we didn't say anything. The hostess apologized for the wait, the manager offered us a complimentary dish, when we were leaving the person who we believe was the manager came over once again and apologized for the delay in getting us seated.
We wanted to go to this place for a while now and especially after the Anthony Bourdain show, we saw the person who I believe was the owner based on the show in the kitchen working and helping run things. The food was absolutely delicious but we were blown away by the service and attention to detail, highly recommend!!!!!!"

"The music choice was bizarre, I was hoping for something more authentic, and so loud I had trouble hearing my husband and the server. I actually don't know if I'd go back again because of it, it really took away from our night out not being able to have a conversation without feeling like we were shouting at one another. The humus was outstanding, but nothing else blew me away. Although my water glass was never empty, thanks to the extra staff running about, our actual server wasn't very attentive. I realize it was busy, but I'm not sure why I wasn't offered another drink and my husband was."

"Our group of 4 had a wonderful time. We were very indecisive as everything on the menu looked good and there were several tasting options that you could also choose from. Our server, Michael Vincent Ferrari, was especially patient with us and recommended a wonderful wine that we could all enjoy. After finally getting our strategy of how to attack the menu together we were pleasantly surprised to be treated to some of the dished we had debated about complements of the chef. We found out later that Michael Vincent also cooks at the restaurant. He was fantastic and made us all feel special, ensuring that we had a wonderful dining experience."

"Many people commented on the great service, but I found it a little TOO attentive. A couple times several people asked us the same question within two minutes of each other. It was a little overwhelming. But that's hardly somethin to whine about. We were well taken care of! We loved the bread and hummus and salads and the flavors were modern but authentically middle eastern. A wonderful spot! We can't wait to return to try the lamb shoulder!!"

"Unbelievable food and service. Service was attentive without being intrusive. We did the tasting menu, and were so lucky to be able to taste so many of their wonderful dishes. The tastes and textures were so vivid, my son who just came back from Israel said it was exactly like being back there!
The lamb, which we were lucky enough to be able to order without 24 hours notice, fell off the bone. We hardly needed to chew! And the crispy rice and chickpeas added such a wonderful textural contrast to the soft meat."

"Zahav is a superior restaurant. The food is consistently terrific & the way it's served is fun -- the salatim (salad) sampler to start with should be a requirement -- it's that good & different. When the little bowls come out, you might worry that you won't be getting enough to eat, but the evening rolls on & new plates arrive, & by the time dessert comes, you find all you can do is taste it. Specialty cocktails are really interesting, too. Unusual combinations that you won't find anywhere else. Can't wait to go back!"

"The food at Zahav did not disappoint. Very tasty options and the small plate serving sizes allows for you to try various items on the menu without being overwhelmed with large portions. Our only comment would be that the music selections were a bit strange for dining (Beastie Boys??) and in the beginning of our dinner we found we were shouting over the music to be heard. We will definitely be back. The Haloumi, beets and lamb meatballs were excellent."
