Koi Los Angeles is a sophisticated blend of feng shui and modern elegance. Illuminated by candlelight, the natural and intricate details of the restaurant create an elegant dining atmosphere, while the Zen inspired design of earth-toned colors, sleek design, fireplaces and waterscapes all create a stunning atmosphere of harmony by combining subtly luxurious materials with nature’s elements of water, air, fire and light.
At Koi, chefs deconstruct traditional Japanese preparations and respectfully re-imagine them, by infusing modern California accents. Sushi chefs and the kitchen staff derive their inspiration from each other resulting in creations like the signature Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna, an addictive version of the classic spicy tuna roll, featuring warm grilled rice topped with a thick layer of cool, savory tuna); the Baked Crab Roll, for which succulent fresh crabmeat is wrapped in a thin rice crepe paper dotted with sesame seeds and baked to perfection.
"A solid pick that has aged gracefully. It's a better deal than Nobu across the street. An LA staple that may not be as seeney as the past, but I think that's a good thing. The food has always been solid anchored by the original crispy rice. Well priced. Lovely staff that always seems to care. A step up from the college Izikaya crowd on 3rd."

"Koi is a different restaurant than it was 5 years ago when we last visited. On a Saturday evening, the place was only about half full with none of the buzz that we experienced on our last visit. And there's a reason for it. While the food was flavorful and the patio setting warm and inviting, the portions were small and after a tab of just over $300 (for 4, including 2 non-drinkers), we left not completely sated."

"I went with my wife for a regular Tuesday dinner and we love Koi. It was our first time there. The valet is a bit pricey at $8 and the initial service took at least 10 minutes before our drink orders were taken. After that, it was solid clockwork and delicious food served as ordered with nice presentation."

"The food was pretty good but a little pricey for what you get. We got to the restaurant earlier than our reservation time and were told we would be seated right away. There was no compunction that we were there early so we may be waiting for a little while, instead they took people who walked in including parties of 9 and seated them before my guest and I. I don't know if it was due to not being as dressy but still the only real reason I would come back is because our server Anthony was outstanding!! Keep up the good work!"

"Fantastic Japanese food. The crispy rice with tuna is outrageous. The sushimi was perfect, roll was fantastic, excellent desert menu. Best sushi/sshimi going!"

"I had never been to Koi before, but went to dinner with some co-workers while traveling in LA. I have to say that I will be back. The food was amazing and all of it suggested by our amazing waitress. Don't let the snobby ambivalent hostesses deter you... once you're past them the other people on staff are amazing!"

"I booked the table at the last minute and wasn't completely thrilled with the view of the kitchen. Fortunately the service and the food were outstanding and I quickly forgot wanting a better table!
Try the rib eye "bites" and the seared scallops.... excellent. And our server was congenial, efficient and fun. We had a little too fast and then a little too slow from the kitchen, but again, the food took the center stage when it arrived. We are absolutely returning whenever we are in LA."

"Usually the servers at Koi are so friendly and you feel they love sharing their love of Koi with you. Tonight felt rushed and our waiter seemed upset that we wanted to order additional food??"

"My experience at Koi was Good, unfortunately the food was Good, I had high expectation, possible from the reviews people wrote and their recommendations. I followed the review recommendation and I just think it was okay, but the plates that people did not recommend was terrific for example the "Salmon carpaccio", that was one of my favorite dish. The service was great, we had a great waiter, but overall it was a good experience and I would come back just for the "Salmon carpaccio"."

"New York or Los Angeles, KOI stays one of the best in its category. It was very quiet the evening we went because it was Super Bowl evening and people were obviously staying home after the big day."

Had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation which was not a good way to start off my dining experience. Other than that, food was good. Overpriced, but good."

"Food was good but way over priced... Our waiter was rude and ignored us most of the night and then yelled at a cleaning staff in front of us. Overall, it was an experience but I probably won't be going back again."

"The food and service was generally great. Just a few of my pet peeves that drive me crazy. Waiting for someone to take my drink order. I believe from when we first day down, it took 10 minutes. Then, plenty if buss boys around and had to keep on asking for my water to be refilled. I normally would not mention anything, but expect not to ask when this restaurant is marketed as ax nicer restaurant. But overall, I would return. May have been an off night."
